The loss of life as a direct result of the invasion and occupation from 1950 to 1976 has been estimated as follows: 173,221 Tibetans died in prisons and labor camps; 156,758 by execution; 342,970 by starvation; 432,705 in battles and uprisings; 92,731 by torture; and 9,002 by suicide.
Note that these statistics refer to a period of 26 years, not just the 1950 engagement.

Genocide to me means the complete or near complete extermination of a ethnic or racial population. The only modern genocide I am familiar with is the Holocaust which killed at least 6 million Jews, which nearly depopulated Europe of Jews.
How can Tibet be a victim of genocide if the population has almost tripled since 1950?
Thousands of Western tourists go to Tibet to see Tibetan culture every year. How is that possible if Tibetan culture is under "genocide"?
