The reason for the negativity of the Black album was never the musical content, it was the mainstream success that allowed posers to listen to our "secret" band that only metal heads knew about. BUT, i still dont like it and as far as i am concerned justice was the last GOOD album. Its just my opinion. So i kind disagree with you that it wasen t the musical content...for me and my friends, at the time..it WAS the music we thought was getting weak. and it was...and did get weaker.

I agree with the demarcation of old and new Metallica being the Black album. It was different and my perception has been more positive over the years (and not just because Load and Reload was so bad). The tours (Justice and Black) were both old school feeling. What I was referring to was the extent the Black album got from the guy below. Saying that it was worse than the Pixies and Soundgarden on any day is extreme. Bought it same day and thought it was cool. So?
