  • I love this scene but never understood how they didn't know who each other was when they first met. McClaine had to say his name for Hans to realize who he was and with Hans' accent McClaine should of known who Hans was.

  • lov ethat scene! :D:D

  • i saw die hard before harry potter and as soon as i saw snape in the film i laughed so hard the whole cinema looked at me

  • HANS BUBBY

  • didn´t alan rickman play lord helmet in spaceballs?

  • It was Rick Moranis (the guy in Honey I shrunk the Kids).

  • he totally loses his fake accent at 2:47

  • Ooops! :P no bullets :D

  • ahh geil alan rickman redet deutsch XD

  • oh man. I just watched Harry Potter for the first time with my girlfriend and Alan Rickman who played Hans Gruber in Die Hard played a role in H.Potter as some Professor Snape. I keeped bugging my gf, who never watched Die Hard, that Severus Snape is actually a german terrorist named Hans that want to take over the hogwarts acadamy. She got annoyed by it. After Harry Potter we watched Die Hard to show her my "prove" She couldnt stop laughing suddendly seeing her Snape as my Hans Gruber

  • I miss those days when germans were evil :(

    Germans were the greatest villains.

Take Indiana Jones. What would Indiana Jones be without nazis? Yeah... It would suck! Like the new Indiana Jones movie!

I want to have my german villains back!!!

  • And also Goldfinger. Don't forget him.

  • Actually, Goldfinger was british. In the movie he was anyway.

  • "I'm an exceptional thief Mrs. McClane, and since I'm moving up to kidnapping you should be more polite!"

  • I almost die laughing at Hans american dude act! XD

  • "Clay.....Bill Clay"

  • Hans Gruber: "I know who I am, I'm a British dude, playing a German dude, disguised as an American dude!"

  • when I saw that movie the first time, I was 15 years old, and I fell in love at once with Hans Gruber. I think I was the only one in front of the TV to be upset that he dies at the end. Hans was, is and will be, the best vilian ever and my fav character in the four movies !

    Thanks for the vid' !

  • Hans!... Boobie!.... I'm your white knight!

Sorry I must have missed 60 seconds......

I can give hime to ya..... :D

  • LoL i hated that guy... Hans RULEZ THE WORLD!! or at least this building ;)

  • Oh that was one of my favorite parts.

  • Hans is my favorite bad guy ever with Shooter McGavin and Ledger's Joker!

  • I am going to count to three,

  • There will not be a four.

    WAR "Shoot the glass!"

  • Welcome to the party PAL!

  • OH MY GOD THE QUARTERBACK IS TOAST!

  • well well well........Hans...

  • "no bullllllets... what you think I'm fuckin stupid Hans?"

  • Hans Gruber anagrams into "bras hunger"

    (and they do)

  • When the tension between Hans and John is just awesome in this scene!

  • Best Die hard villain ever! Tim Olyphant and his twenty-some 'cold stares into a zooming camera' did not convince me in LFODH.

  • I was looking for this scene, thanks for uploading!!

  • Clay.....Bill Clay.

  • Hit it again.

  • Hans...Bubby

  • I'm Your White Knight!

  • Alan does a great American accent! (Especially since he has such a strong British accent naturally.) What a classy gentleman...

  • best villain ever

  • ahhh no bullets!

  • "ahh ahhhhh!! you're one of them aren't you???"

  • you smoke...(laughs) yeah.

  • when hes puting on that voice he sounds like Big gay al!! lol lol

  • "Clay....Bill..Clay.'

  • Omfg. Wow! I'm slow. I did not know that was Alan Rickman. Maybe cause he looks so...sexy there! xD! I knew there was a reason as to why I loved his voice.

  • Great scene from the 1st Die Hard!

Still my fav among the 3... that and I can't help but oogle Rickman in this one. God he was such a sexy stud in his 40s. *__*

  • Total stud, and a great actor! I still can't believe how good he was as Hans, when this was only his first film! Amazing! Most brodway actors wouldn't be able to pull off the switch to film, but it seems Mr.Rickman can do it all...

  • He still is a sexy stud, even in his 60's now. ; )

  • how many jim rome emails end with a clay... bill clay!

  • WAR "Shoot - The Glass!"

  • Husker....WAR, making million dollar deals for breakfast, and dealing with this Eurotrash.

  • sorry. giving Gun without ballets is the answer.he did notice.

  • McClain dose not notice Hans's pretending?

    or,Is he pretending not notice?

  • Awesome + funny scene.

  • haha his german is just like my englisch; it sucks.

  • best "terrorist" in all die hard movies.

  • The nameplates say "Clay WM" what could WM stand for. The W could stand for William right so that is for some fucked up reason shortened to Bill in America. So that should make McClain trust Billie boy here right? I'm not sure if I'm getting that clue.

  • *sigh* i think im obsessed with die hard...

  • *sighs as well* Me too.

  • haans got me edicted from the moment i saw him. *is also obsessed with snape*

  • I'm so obsessed with this movie. I taped it and forced my friend to watch parts with Hans in it. ;) He's just so amazing!

  • AWESOME HK P7 ^_^

  • great movie, i love the Die Hard series

  • takes4evr to load

  • What exactly does he say after "you know that game with the guns that shoot red paint" ???

It sounds like he says "it seems so stupid to you" but I cant tell. I need to know ASAP.

  • "probably seems kind of stupid to you" in regard to him holding actual guns

  • I love the ambient indutrial music at the beginning. It reminds me of either Half-Life or Deus Ex.

  • awesome! but like the end when hans gruber is killed by john McClain by a shot is great how john McClain put that pistol behind his back.

  • Great scene duo.

  • was he speaking german on the walkie

  • I think it's '33rd floor. Come. At once.'

  • wow.....wat a fantastic villain with awesome accent.....i love this villain.....its still my favourite movie.....

  • It's the Voice of God, no it's Snape, no IT'S HANS GRUBER!

  • lol god he's an english guy impersonatinq a german guy impersonating an amarican lol that was probably well difficult

  • Wow, as many times as I've seen this, I didn't realize it was Alan Rickman. I'm too used to him as Snape lol.

  • Wow, as many times as I've seen this, I didn't realize it was Alan Rickman. I'm too used to him as Snape lol.

  • gRUBER LOOKS LIKE A DEADLY SNAKE.

  • I got sooo confused when I first saw this part. Then he sarted talking about signaling for help, and it all snapped into place. He's very convincing with an American accent, though of course it must have taken him weeks of training. Love this guy!!!

  • The first part is one of my favourite parts of the movie :3 It makes me smile every time =p

  • his accent with german cover with american slur said it all...... even with his tone while hiding the german accent not bad for this english actor.. 1988 die hard alan rickman also see robin hood prince of thieves 1990

  • LOL!

In the german Version his name is "Jack Gruber" and he is american!

  • It was the first time I saw Alan Rickman, when this movie was release, by the way. Dude I was 16 years old LOL.

  • I love Alan Rickman in this movie.

The first time I saw this movie, many years ago, it blowed my mind completely. It was truly awesome.

  • Rickman rocks! he had to have the director jump first off the building before he was convinced to do it.

  • 33. Stockwerk! kommt! Sofort! sounds good

  • How come you didn't have the rest of that scene it was LOADED with action and violence

  • Alan Rickman's American accent makes me smile. :3

But yeah, he's also damn fine. Let's not forget that bit. Never forget that bit. Haha.

  • Bruce Willis!

  • just kidding

  • This is filmmaking at its absolute finest.

To see an excellent tribute to Hans Gruber:

    youtube dot com / watch?v=6zMXRH5up98

  • I was thinking about this later, my comment may have been misunderstood. I didn't mean that the Tribute to Hans Gruber was "filmmaking at its finest." I was referring to this scene in the movie which was one of my favorite scenes. Alan Rickman is such a great actor, I wish his character could have stayed alive in the end so he could've been in spin-off films as the same character.

  • Hans Gruber is my favourite character(next to McClane). Hans is so smart and all those other Germans seem so professional. If only somehow Hans survived that fall(fell into a rose bush and went into a coma) and comes back for revenge especially since McClane killed his brother. Couldn't he just go to prison like normal thieves/murderers/kidnappers? Why did he HAVE to DIE? Alan Rickman did some wonderful acting here.

  • fell into a rosebuh lol, it would be cool if he came back with loads of thorn scars

  • can someone tell me how mcclane found out that hans was a terrorist. what made john give him an empty gun.

  • I believe it's because the W Clay on the directory worked on the 29th floor not the

    30th floor like everyone else.

  • I kinda though about that too, but itd be wierd, cuz the whole building is owned by nakatomi, and the party was for the members of the whole corporation, no? why would the party only b for the 30th floor

  • Die hard forever Says it all in the name, John mclain is legend... yipie kiyaee you mother fu..ers

  • One Of the best bad guys ever! Also I like Athony Hopkines in slilts of the lambs and. Danzel in training day.

  • Haha I love Americans pronouncing german names =) It sounds really funny ^^

  • "You were saying?"

That man never ceases to entertain me with his wit. Alan Rickman does brilliantly as Hans Gruber, and this plot is absolutely amzing. I love this movie!

  • I love Hans, sexy sexy man.

  • aaaaaggh no your one of them !!!!!

  • classic classic classic!! my fav movie ever!

  • McClane: "Oops. No bullets. You think I'm fuckin' stupid, Hans?"

    *elevator ding*

    Hans: "You were saying?"

  • I rented & watched this movie for the first time yesterday just to see Alan Rickman's performance. For many young women like myself, he is the true hero of this film :)

  • i full heartedly agree:)

  • I second that! Even though Hans doesn't have any bullets, I find that scene with him stepping on the cigarette, pulling out the gun, and talking on the walkie talkie incredibly sexy.

  • When I was a kid, I ALWAYS used to daydream about being the character "John McClane", and being the hero like the character is. :)

  • Love Alan Rickman !

Thanks for this vid ! One of best moments in the film

  • lol i loooove this clip... ive never seen the movie tho... now i wanna kno what happens next :(

  • Do it, it's an AWESOME movie.

  • It really does look awesome. When I rent it, I'm renting it purely for Alan's amazing performance. Btw, does anyone know what "WM" on that board means when Hans says he's Bill Clay?

  • It says Clay on the board that's where he finds the name "Clay". I think it has nothing to do with "WM".

  • Thanks. :) I was always curious what role that board played.

  • I think it's supposed to mean William.

Yea, no lie, I never understood that part...

  • Damn! I got it- I think! Thanks! So WM stands for William and Alan says he's "Bill Clay" so McClaine assumes that the supposed Bill Clay is a fraud and is up to something, knowing the building is being held by terrorists. Thank you!

  • Well, William --> Will --> Bill

And what I like about Die Hard is that the bad guys are so good that I both do and don't like seeing Bruce Willis kill them.

  • You can say that again. I actually REGRET seeing Bruce Wills kill them off...I sometimes wish I had just stopped watching after all the wonderful action and humor between them...but alas, no, I could not resist! *dramatic faint*
