  • hes playing are you afraid of the dark shred version lol

  • look how bored he looks in the window frame. haha

  • yeah man, vibrato bar, 23 years, time i got used to that thing! i like his subtle use of it, no 80's dive bombs and lizards down throats and stuff

  • shred genre i do have time for say Dime, Friedman , Halen, i been exploring Vai too, i must admit, he has amazing feel too but, its just like wanking to me sometimes, i think iv'e learnt that the simple hook is key, i guess its from doing funk and hip hop, blues, reggae etc etc though i love old thrash metal.... any way thats my 50p's worth, just my humble opinion... thanks for posting btw :D cont...

  • just wanted to say, i'm a guitarist who kinda generally hates shred (for shreds sake)

i very much prefer soulful power, say B.B. King, Niel Young, Slash, Hendrix,... i like mistakes and expression but thats my point, Shawn Lane has incredible expressiveness too... almost a B.B. King touch, in slower moments while the rest of the time he sounds twice as fast as other shredders and twice as musical, though sorry, instrumental guitar tracks bore me... fantastic player though, in the

  • his tremolo technique was remarkable, among all other things of course:)

  • It's incredible how Shawn Lane could play that so relaxed and everythin,a true genius, unique guitarrist, the best of best.

  • R.I.P

  • hahaha, petruccifan57, you are right...! it doesnt sound like the start of are you afraid of the dark....

  • He deffinately left material worth thinking about.

  • the best ... ROck in peace indeed shawn

  • Trooch uses that first melody in one of the solos to 'In The Presence Of Enemies, Pt.1', hm.

  • Yeah, that's the first think I noticed.

  • Holy shit, it's the same melody, tremolo bar and everything. O_o

  • RIP= Rock In Peace

  • "it kinda hard to execute cleanly" then he plays it perfectly and is clearly disssatisfied.

If you wanna be good, you gotta be very critical of your playing it seems.

  • you kinda do because then you force yourself to make it sound better

  • The beginning of this solo (without accompaniment) reminds me of the intro/theme to the show "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"...takes me back to my childhood.

    *sigh*

  • "and i bend up, a bit, like a portomento(??)"

    what does he say there?

  • I that is one of those things usually found to the left on the keyboard. You use it to alter the pitch of notes.

  • he means bending into the note

  • ''It's kinda hard to execute cleanly''

    ....Completely nails it

    What an astonishing player!

  • can you say jazz...?

  • His sound is so Warm!!

  • he reminds me of ralphie may, the comedian lol. what an amazing player.

  • it's the way he talks huh

  • Amazing...Shawn will be missed greatly...

  • yeah...he really is missed...

  • apart from the fact shawn lane would of been able to sell concert tickets if he performed live. Not to mention being 'god' status on guitar.

  • Tremendo ataque y definicion, sin dudas uno de los mejores. R.I.P

  • "Keep working on that & it'll come easy to you over time".

    LMFAO!

  • shawn you rock

    R.I.P
