@69avocado Disassembling a Sebenza does not void the warranty. CRK even supply the Allen key in the box when you buy one from them. I think they will even reassemble it for you for free if you can't get it back together. You just have to pay shipping.
The only thing missing is when you put the knife together is to properly align the blade with the handle so the pin smoothly goes in without forcing it. this will align the frame lock perfectly. if you scratch the handels chris reeve will referbish and make it look like new
Ya know what, I never really liked the method shown in the video. You get oil/grease everywhere, your washers get scratched up, the washers, fall off when you try to insert the blade into the handles, so much can go wrong.
okay firstly, patreols, your right i should not call people i dont know idots, so i appologise for that remark to anyone it was intended for. and kudos to you for bringing that up. secondly i tink knive purchasing is very personal but there are so many really good bladxes for around the 70-100 buck range this just seems a bit daft to me. i understand paying for quality but 300+ dollars for a knive seems daft to me.
Hey dude. Some things, you can't know before experiencing them.
Driving, sex , be drunk..and owning a high end knife.
A 100$ knife is nowhere near a Sebenza.
I have several good and very good knives.
While they all feel high quality : blade deployment, edge retention, sturdyness etc, the Sebenza feels better on every aspect (expect edge retention of course, many 150$ knives are s30v or other premium steel) and you can realize it only when you hold it and play with it.
1InsideMan, have you ever handled or used a Sebenza? I have owned dozens of benchmades, including the Pinnacle. And agree with you. The two knives are not even in the same league as one another. The Benchmade is a blatant rip-off of the sebenza, but they fell way short. Of course the price fell way short too, but the Sebenza is my longest lasting knife. I have spent well over 50k on knives in the last 10 years and the Sebenza has outlasted them all. Including a fixed blade Busse Combat knife!
Can you deny the excellent feel and usability of Benchmade's axis lock? I would imagine most people that know knives would agree that it is a great innovation. I'm not taking anything away from sebenza I'm sure they are great overpriced knives (as is with customs). Just don't be so fanboyish. Many knife companies have excellent knives. Just because you spent 4x as much on a sebenza doesn't make it the one knife to rule them all.
The slinging the blade open resets the lock to make sure it goes over far enough. However, after the one "sling," setting the blade after cleaning, it should not be done until the next cleaning or dis-assembly. It is hard to sling open a sebenza anyway due to the superior ball detent. It helps keep the blade closed until you are ready to open it. I use this exact method of dis/re-assembly every time and the knife is one incredible piece of equipment. Best tolerances out there keep it up Chris!
The people who have trouble with their knife after assembly is because they either put the washers on the wrong side. Which they will know right away or the assembled the knife improperly in one way or another. I have owned a dozen or so sebenzas and they should all go back together perfectly, if not disassemble it and reassemble it right away. You don't want to force the knife open if it is correct the action should be like butter every time. And only sling open the blade once after cleaning.
Great instructional video! The closest knife I have is my Benchmade Titanium Pinnacle which in my opinion is the poor mans Sebenza. You get a chance check out my blade videos. Keep em coming!
Very nice vid and very clear aswell. Even though the Sebenza is meant to be taken apart and cleaned, I have seen a few posts on forums where people indicated they had trouble achieving the standard "vault like" feel, after putting the knife together. This will definitely help as a visual aid. Good job!!
I love taking stuff apart and putting it back together. Especially knives and guns!!! Great video man!

Funny how this is the "official" way to do it.

I prefer the sandwich method, the method in the video will get your hands all greasy and it gets everywhere.

you are an idiot if you buy this knife! 300+ dollars is insane. buy 5 crkt m16 aluminum handled knives and still have change in your pocket!

Some peaple just don't get it... And 90% of them did not have the knife in their hands. But that's how the internet works I guess...

Yeah, and you'd rather buy twenty Fiat 500's (and only be able to drive one at the time) than buy a Ferrari, right?
... Don't be so quick calling other people idiot, when you're clearly one yourself!

If you compare it to others knives, the price is right.
All are overpriced.

don´t grab your phosphor bronze washers like shown in the video (sliding over the table)
You would get them dirty from dust sitting on the table.

I agree, axis is something else. Also, Benchmade has great knives.
Sebenza is not my thing, Strider is. It's a question of taste i think.
Lots of good knives out there, will never find the perfect one but it's fun to search for it:)
