  • let n, m be two consecutive integers. but then m=n+1. the difference of their squares is m^2-n^2=(m-n)(m+n)=(n+1-n)(n+1­+n)=1(2n+1)=2n+1, which is an ODD integer for every n. this how you should have solved that exercise, making counter-examples is not incorrect but it's not the shortest way.
