I am learning new things every time I watch this. I thought I had absorbed everything but there are things I am not doing that could help improve my game. Thanks Paul.
I just got the trainer and how do you exactly train with grippers? Do you just squeeze and hold for a duration of time and do multiple sets? Could someone please explain.
Not trying to knock anyone but "setting" the grippers is cheap. It's okay when you are trying to get your first close on a new gripper but you're basically just closing it with both hands.
Very good video Paul! I often use this video as a reference when I try to explain how to set a gripper. And big congrats to all the certs and stuff that you are up too!
thanks for the vid, cant wait for my 6 sets of heavy grips to show up. people always say that I have a crazy handshake and now I should be able to do some serious crushing.
I would like to personally thank you for your tutorial video. As a result of some information from this video that my boyfriend and myself previously overlooked, we both were able to overcome grippers that had stumped us previously.
Awesome video! Kind of confirms what I've been doing, and some good tips on setting it in the palm... I was one of those guys who let the handle slide a little when setting it... not anymore after seeing your video.
@slayertopnotch - yes basically, but I may have a slightly different application/variation than him ... not 100% sure though as I've never seen how holle sets, but it's probably close
Thanks Paul. It's great to be able to learn from one of the best there is. Watching you close the #3 and #3.5 was awesome but what really made me laugh was how you were closing the #1 in the demo. You made it look like a cheesy plastic gripper. Your hand strength is simply amazing!!! Off to practice now.....
Best video on the web to show how to properly set a gripper, but i heard the guy that made it is a little light in the loafers. Probably just a rumor.
its so frustrating trying to set grippers, i measured my hand from bottom to end of middle finger at 7 1/2 inches, am i disadvantaged with setting the gripper or is it still possible to with hands that size?
having smaller hands does create a disadvantage to closing grippers, however that is why the parallel set came about to even the playing field between big and small hands. setting is frustrating to a lot of people, even after watching the video you have to pracirce alot and it will begin to feel more comfortable. GL
Awesome video man. Thanks to gymnast for pointing me in the right direction. Drop me a line sometime on the board. I am new to gripper thing and I would love to pick your brain if you are interested. huntca
I was having trouble closing#2 , and after watching your video try it this morning ,it went flying and did two reps same close and maybe hold it for 8 sec. thanks man it really works can't wait to 2.5. you rule!
The dog-leg is suppose to be in your palm ............. if you're left handed, it will be face down to the palm, but if it's in your right, it will face you
i saw your #3.5 close.. VERY impressive! when are you going for the certification? either the #3 or #3.5.. go for it!! you got huge hands i would like :( do finger grow in size the more you work them on the grippers?
Great video, Paul, very helpful - I'm going to have to practise getting the handle to stay in the crease of my hand and keeping it from sliding towards the thumbpad, I've just tried it; it makes a lot of difference!
lol.. @4:00.. the thumb stretching.. I do that alot and from the very begining. I had no idea why I did it. It just felt like it was helping the set. Good stuff on this video Paul. A+

thanks a lot, Paul! Taught me a bunch of the finer points I don't realize when I just watch someone set a gripper.
All of my training up until now has been no-set. I'm hoping this will add the extra kick needed at the end of the ROM.
