It's so weird to see Mifune playing a non-samurai role. I've only seen Throne of Blood, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, and Rashomon. I have to see this and Stray Dog next.
I saw Ransom, and the influence is quite obvious. For instance, the scene where the police arrive disguised as department store delivery men, done very simply yet subtly by Kurosawa, is dumbed down and made overly obvious by the Ron Howard film.

I believe so. A lot of movies were influenced by Kurosawa.
