Excellent video, thanks for bringing back so many good memories. Best MMO ever. As you say, the skill system was fantastic and why are RPG's now so linear in their skill system. I played Ash the man on Solclaim from Dec 2000 to Dec 2005. Long live AC.
I played Hope-Slayer in 2000-2004ish then sold the account on Darktide.
Also, great review on possibly the greatest MMO in history. I miss the glory days I can go on and on about cherished memories I've had on this game but I'd rather not bore you guys. That being said, this really is the best online game ever created, best story line, best game mechanics and the graphics aren't that bad considering it was created in 1999.
Honestly I think they were trying too hard to make AC2 like other MMOs of the era. AC was and always will be in a category of its own, in style and in execution, and AC2 should have continued the soul of that endeavor rather then trying to be more, frankly, vanilla. I enjoyed AC2 I admit but they bungled it pretty hard (first the ultra nerf that meant taking on lvl 20s, at lvl 40, was rough... then the crafting revamp that was awful).
@Archengeia Hey I also wanted to say I watched all 5 sections to your AC review this is an absolutely great review, well said on majority of AC's gameplay. There's one section of the game you did miss though and would have liked to hear, it's the PVP system / mechanics of AC. That to me was the most entertaining and unique aspects in all of gaming. Every other game fails in this department while AC prevails. Other than that, bravo on the review very nice.
2:50 ya totally well said there was asheron's call when it first came out then each month with their patches they would change it and some changes were good but others really altered the game into the XP hunt level up game instead of story and exploration.
World of Warcraft forced the player within borders restricting travel to areas they design whereas Asheron's Call was this huge open landmass from the very moment you enter. I remember in AC running across temples and ruins from the lost civilization (Empyreans) and wondering if there was anything more to it like pyramids
If i could chose a place to live in a game it would have to be Dereth, you have the lifestone so you could come back to life and the world looked so diverse like our own.
Great review.

I'm sure you've been asked this at some point - what is your opinion of Asheron's Call 2, and why do you think it failed yet the original continued?

I fail to see how the length of a person's hair has an effect on the the way they speak
