@genie0390 Generally the idea behind it is a social concept which is that disproportional wealth in-equality leads to in-equality standard of living which will lead to an unstable society. IE. it started off fair but because having resources allows you to gather more resources more easily than if you didnt, over time people who started off in a better position will get exponentially and disproportionatly more wealth.

@genie0390 Fair Share in terms of progessive income tax system which is what most of the western world use, it means that each individual person shall have their income proportionally affected in the same manner. That is to say, if you tax someone who earns $100wk at $50wk, and tax someone who earns $200wk at $50wk then one person has $50 to live and the other has $150. This is unfair because one person is being disproportionally taxed, they started out with 2x income and ended up with 3x money.

I manage my own funds, including retirement, and make all decisions myself. I wouldn't give one dollar of my money to an investment banker or fund manager. It's is not so hard to invest carefully. Those bastards make 20% from your money and tell you your fund made only 5% and keep the rest. Always have, always will. Plus when they lose it all they don't really lose it all. The company is supposed to make money. If it does not and goes bankrupt, someone should be held responsible. Still they cannot hold one guy responsible for a company that owes millions if it's publicly owned -- the lenders take the hit as the concertized risk of their investment if the firm goes bankrupt.
To trick the customers out of their money, they make them the unwitting lenders by just taking their money and buying a shit not worth investing with their money. Then they take the hit.

Just about anything really but basically the idea is that these guys take huge sums of idle money (recently savings accounts) and put it to work where people theoretically need it (buying a home, starting/expanding a business, destroying competitors businesses, you get the idea). Then when that venture hopefully goes well, the investor gets his money back plus some extra for helping in the first place but if it doesn't.....blah. Am I understanding your question?

Cenk is right about those leverage calculations, that's how these people actually think! My professor used to be a Wall St guy and he says all the time why use your own money when you can leverage and make 10, 20 times as much. Using an account holder's money is a regular practise.
What's done is the money is taken out for less than a day for gambling, if they win, they put the money back and keep the winnings.
If they loose, they usually have a fund to cover losses.
So MF global fucked up so bad they couldn't cover the bad bets and put the money back in the accounts.
Only an idiot thinks their money is safe in a digital account rather than a vault.
