We've moved our grand four times. Expensive, but totally worth it. (There's NO WAY I'd have a 25k instrument moved any other way!) Now, I'm just trying to convince Vern that we need to lease it out, instead of having it live in {shudder}theSHOP/entry{shudder} under the carriage house . . . he's not convinced yet, but he doesn't know how serious I am about it.
Holy Carmina Barana... unaware of the camera, couldn't help but notice when the big guy farted at (1.23) this enables more horsepower, and at (1.30) Thats what I like to see... big ass removalists using their head hahaha!
I shouldn't laugh really, I gotta move a friends baby grand in a cuppla weeks, thats why I watched this lol.
Looks like these guys had one hell of a time but they got the job done. I have been in the moving trade a long time and this is not an easy thing to do. DID YOU EVEN TIP THEM FOR BREAKING THEIR BACKS OR WAS IT JUST THE TYPICAL THANKS. So many people want the hardest thing moved to the most unbelievable places and don't even tip when a job is well done. But when a waitress servers you a dinner out comes the tip
I work for Don Pinard piano moving in ottawa canada.. Got a 9 foot american grand steinway coming off a stage and up 36 stairs at the national art gallery tomorrow morning!!
There's actually a technique to get a piano up a flight of stairs with one person. My grandfather could do it when he was younger. I never learned how, so I couldn't tell ya.
Doesn't look like that hard a job to me. I think the big guy is working too hard. My biggest guy is only about 220 lb and I'm about 210, on the small side for piano movers.
I always handle the top end, and my two associates work the other. I pull with a strap around my waist.
I'm 62 years old and I've been moving pianos for 30 years. Still do it six days a week and nothing hurts.
Two of us skinny movers just lift up 800lb pianos and hall them up stairs around landings, down halls, and it never touches the ground until it reaches its destination. But we are kind of ripped and all...
Haha, thats the way to do it! Throw down blankets, put your shoulder into it, and push that sucker up the steps. Thats pretty much how we do it, but our technique differs a bit.
Oh, and I couldn't see that well from your vid, but it looks more like a 5' - 6.5' piano which only weight around 600lbs at most. Only 8 or 9 footers weigh over 800lbs.

@Semiautomaticshooter Couldnt agree more some people are just very unapreciative of movers hard work.

So, I guess you have to weigh half as much as the piano you're moving?

Lol the grunts really brought attention to the weight of the piano. Why don't you just buy an electric keyboard for $100 at sears?

Here in oz we strap the piano up and down the stairs, so much quicker than using those girly sleds

A. When you are inside on mable floors you put down blankets, not outside with crappy wood stairs.
B. Why are they still using an antique skid board, have they not seen any modern equipment from premier moving ??
C. The second guy was why too far forward, how was he going to affect the balance and help out the bottom man ?
D. Why didn't they put a block of wood under the headboard to keep the dollie from tilting up? Let that sucker hit you in the knee one time.
give them one week with me...
