  • Thanks dude^^ you made me really thinking of why I smoked. I stopped on the 1.1.09 and well, I got more money, I can breath free and I'm feeling better. Still I'm craving cigarettes and espeacially when I'm really angry and I'm losing control, but I know it's better to be smokefree for my health. I hope the cravings will stop and I can be smokefree forever.

    Cheers and greetz from germany.

  • You're totally right - it is easier said than done because finding out what the real reason is for your smoking habit takes some work. Not a terrible amount of work, but definitely some. However, if being smoke-free is really something you value then it's worth it. Finding out the reason why you smoke, and remember it's never cigarettes, it the only way to stop for good without stress and cravings.

  • When you find the cause of the habit, the desire to smoke becomes weaker - it almost disappears. There are sometimes still some associational links - like as you said with friends or with a drink - but these are very weak as long as you've dealt with the core cause. As for concentration and weight management - smoking has ZERO benefit in these areas. Having a smoking habit lowers your concentration because of the addictive properties of nicotine and then restores it to normal after a cigarette.

  • As for the weight myth - when you smoke it keeps you occupied so you are less likely to snack because you have something to do with your hands and mouth. That's it. A lack of cigarettes itself does nothing to your weight, you just have to form new healthy habits to give yourself something to do with your hands afterwards to avoid replacing smoking with snacking. The really good stop smoking programmes give you all you need, the poorer ones are too simplistic and ignore these important details.

  • yes your are right in this. Though I have to say it is really hard, if your friends are smoking, or if you used to have the habbit of having a cigarette with something like coffee or a beer. I don't know, all my head is telling me to smoke in certain moments, for example when im really angry or stressed.

Is smoking actually good for concentration and weight managment or has it ANY good attribute?? Serious question.
