I agree, it's a great movie. 4 stars for sure, but I was never a big fan of the theme song. The music is good, but it needs new lyrics. The words sound like it was written for a child.

@JessOnTheRun The reason Goldfinger explained his plan to the mobsters is because the scene is a plot device. Without it, how the hell are we to know what's going on? It's not "wasted". Storywise, Goldfinger was just showing off. As for the Solo scene, the guy wanted his money back. He was standing there when Goldfinger's boys were putting the gold in the Lincoln. This is to make him think that everything is on the up and up before they murder him. What follows is a typical gangland murder.

EVERYONE, hear this: at 2:25 you hear the original voice of Gert Fröbe/Goldfinger!! Gert Fröbe spoke very little English, so Michael Collins dubbed his voice. Director Guy Hamilton instructed him to speak quickly which would assist the looping. Reportedly though, Fröbe was acting in some English which reduces the awareness of the dubbing. Fröbe's own voice is also heard when meeting with the mobsters, when he says, "Except crime!" :D

Excellent trailer. This is one of the best next to another great Bond Trailer, From Russia With Love. All of the old school vintage Bond trailers are mint, and even the new Bond trailers don't disappoinnt. If I was a milliionaire, I'd buy the whole James Bond collection on DVD in one fell swoop. I love James Bond, and I have beaten both of the PS2 games I owned: Everything Or Nothing, and From Russia With Love--plus an old PS1 game Tomorrow Never Dies. Awesome!!

IIRC, that flavor of the month had butterscotch and honey as one of the ingredients.

Goldfinger wasnt that good of a movie... way too many illogical scenarios, wasted film time, etc. Sorry, but Guy Hamilton ist a poor director... Terrance Young created the screen Bond and his films are far more superior.

@JessOnTheRun The reason Goldfinger explained his plan to the mobsters is because the scene is a plot device. Without it, how the hell are we to know what's going on? It's not "wasted". Storywise, Goldfinger was just showing off. As for the Solo scene, the guy wanted his money back. He was standing there when Goldfinger's boys were putting the gold in the Lincoln. This is to make him think that everything is on the up and up before they murder him. What follows is a typical gangland murder.

FRWL is obviously superior, but to say Goldfinger is a bad movie just because of one scene is ridiculous. That's like saying FRWL is bad because of that "red wine and fish" idea, or the fact that Grant doesn't kill Bond right away. And substance? There's no substance in FRWL either.

But in the finished version he has always been asked about the nonsence of the scene and "I shake my head in remorse from the rather silly final cut".

(I will no longer discuss politics, because the original discussion was on film, you coward). A survey in the 90's found that 80% of the movie-going public saw Goldfinger. Rottentomatoes, which compiles movie reviews, gives Goldfinger a 96% fresh rating. Only FRWL is ahead, but, as I said, that film is better. The AFI has honored it four times.

EVERYONE, hear this: at 2:25 you hear the original voice of Gert Fröbe/Goldfinger!! Gert Fröbe spoke very little English, so Michael Collins dubbed his voice. Director Guy Hamilton instructed him to speak quickly which would assist the looping. Reportedly though, Fröbe was acting in some English which reduces the awareness of the dubbing. Fröbe's own voice is also heard when meeting with the mobsters, when he says, "Except crime!" :D

Excellent trailer. This is one of the best next to another great Bond Trailer, From Russia With Love. All of the old school vintage Bond trailers are mint, and even the new Bond trailers don't disappoinnt. If I was a milliionaire, I'd buy the whole James Bond collection on DVD in one fell swoop. I love James Bond, and I have beaten both of the PS2 games I owned: Everything Or Nothing, and From Russia With Love--plus an old PS1 game Tomorrow Never Dies. Awesome!!

You can hear Gert Frobe original voice on this trailer only, when he says the line "Choose your next witticism carefully, Mr. Bond, it may be your last". He was dubbed in the movie.

Damn, I so remember this movie, first one I ever watched on free TV in March 1993...and here's the weird part:
That same month, the ice cream company MAGNOLIA released a "flavor of the month" called-I'm not joking- Goldfinger! and the ad featured a Connery Bond-looking guy slipping through a museum trying to get a cup of Goldfinger ice cream locked in a glass case. IIRC, that flavor of the month had butterscotch and honey as one of the ingredients.

Goldfinger wasn't the best Bond movie in the series but was really good Action/Adventure movie.
Sean Connery, Honor Blackman, Gert Fröbe and Tania Mallet were really impressive
