The ability to live longer healthier lives is good, but at some point we will outgrow our planets ability to support the population. Do we let the fat and lazy be a burden on a government run health care system? In our society of excess, that would be an unsustainable solution. Or, do we continue to let the cold hearted capitalistic method keep our population in check. Either way, nature will eventually decide for us. It's just a matter of how much time till that happens.
As a company, shouldn't you be aggressively expanding into developing countries? Talk about a market with growth potential! At the least anti-malarial drugs are needed now. Imagine these markets eventually having millions of middle-income citizens. They will want/need the same pharmaceuticals as advanced nations have enjoyed. Good info-graphic presentation. Shows how preventative care needs to be emphasized and how senior care will create massive opportunities for health professionals.
Great video highlighting some of the problems of health care. But we need solutions to deal with it. Check out this vid /watch?v=dNPZI4gLhT8 . He has some interesting ideas on how to solve the healthcare cost crisis.
@Tzendon Interesting philosophy. I'm the exact opposite. I'm more concerned about my life experience here and now while I am conscious of my being. I prefer to write my own destiny and let that story be my eternal soul's legacy. 'In the end all that matters is what you've done.' (yes, that was the line from the Alexander trailer...it neatly sums up my life philosophy)
There is a really strange thing about this medical business.
In the 1980s there was a program on PBS about developing computerized medical diagnostic programs. But now we have $300 computers that are more powerful than those mainframes from the 80s. Where are those diagnostic programs to put on these great computers? When do we even hear about them now?
The medical profession has shoved them under a rug.
Eating a plant based diet and avoiding vaccines would cut diseases down by a huge margin . Dibetes is curable on a vegan diet in less than 3 weeks , yes even type 1 . Cancer cannot spread in the body of someone who practices alkalizing diets .
@MindofaJedi having done the vegan thing on several attempts, it's not the healthiest diet. Animal protein is a fine protein/nutrient source for omnivores. Good diet=Mostly veg's incl small amounts anim. protein. Total avoidance of animal protein would not drastically cut disease. It is the consumption of refined edibles preserved for a long shelf life, not wellness, that contributes to easily preventable diseases/conditions such as endocrine/metabolic issues, autoimmune issues, and cancers.
whatever, the human race will just along with all other races on this planet reach its leveling point where the population growth will cease and it will begin to decrease very slowly, and that point is around 8 billion, and consider this, there is 25billion square feet of land in jacksonville, Florida, you could fit 6 billion people in a space that size atleast twice, and its stupid to say we dont have enough to support these people, if people would just live healthy there wouldn't be an issue
@CrazyBoyStudios Actually, humans have an expotential growth rate, this means that once we reach the tipping point, it all goes to hell. If this happened at around 10,000,000,000, only 4,000,000,000 will survive what happens at most if God was in a good mood that day.
More vaccines=More prescriptions ,Health care = affordable with less vaccines recommended! Now more vaccines recommended = more illnesses, more prescription drugs prescribed, more trips to the doctor, side effects from vaccines and prescriptions=more tests need to be taken. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out! People will live longer??? Yes my grandparents and parents & I may, but we didn't get alot of vaccines and prescriptions. We have no clue on lifespan of children now
Ha. The True Question is you never quite fully answered was "How do we take care or 9.5 Billion People?" We are talking double or even triple the amount of what we spend on healthcare alreeady.. and we don't even have money right now. It also means that pollution will increase by like triple.
Powerful ad and I hate ads. But this is right on. The current healthcare system in the US is based on treating symptoms and not the underlying cause. There is very little incentive for preventive care. That is what the Novartis ad is saying. Preventive care. And to say that we are not now a global community and responsible for our neighbors is not accurate. If that were not the case, then why is the US military so active around the world?
i think advances in medicine are ruining the world, a lot of people should be dead right now, either by disease or each other but hey, survival of the fittest doesn't apply to humans, so our genetics don't advance well
This video is full of LIES. These Pharmaceutical companies make TONS of money off of us by pimping doctors and scaring us into using their products. Many of these so called vaccines are poisoning us with heavy metals. They know what they are doing so they lobby congress to pass laws protecting them against law suits from people damaged from their poisons.
no thanks, i dont like vaccines. i would rather die, than to get even further on the autistic spectrum. if somones sick, i keep my eyes open and stay clear.
The only important thing this video brings up is the fact that poor behavior is the reason for the high cost of health insurance. Yes, let's further socialize an industry based of bad behavior, punishing those who live their physical lives responsibly! Great!
So, out of 9.2 billion, more than 2 billion are Seniors. Is that alot? How many would you THINK we could take care of? Does that # take into account all those that will die when their benefits are cut? Or the ones that can't find a Dr.?
We are headed to picking winners & losers, that's where we are headed.
Now, let's all eat right, exercise & try to live right so we also can one day be put on a list of the costly when we reach those 'Golden Years".
global health care!hahahaha, who can and how can we pay for all of that. not gonna happen, it's simply impossible. it would take every dime we all have and doctors would have to work for very small wages. i love everybody and wish we could save the world but cm'on. it cant happen
Health care must be global. Mission trips can only do so much the military can only do so much. Global health means global reform, which means help on all fronts. We have to relize that we are all humans regardless of what we were born into. Everyone deserves a chance of life.
@Janelikesphysics agreed, if people would just eat better, exercise more they wouldn't need prescription drugs, or lots of medicine. I suffer from lots of sinus infections, but let me tell u when i eat better man they are much less frequent. Eating healthy and natural foods really do help.
Let me be the first to say: well done, Novartis, for opening this channel up to comments. You're now doing the right thing (preparing for the full spectrum of responses that you will inevitably receive), no longer the easy - and pointless - thing (shutting down comments altogether). For that, I salute you.

Where are these statistics from? Without sources at best this video can be labeled sensationalistic and yellow journalism.
