When I was thirteen I was so in love with phantom of the opera, that for my birthday I got the cds... cause i had almost worn the tapes right out, a t-shirt with phantom of the opera on it and my cake had it on it... but the best gift was my mom took me to the city to see it!! With Paul Stanley!! it was amazing!! We were third row back from the front right in the middle, so when the chandalier came down.. it fell right over us!! You could feel the heat of the fire on the stage on your face!!!
I wish Mr. Stanley had been cast as the Phantom in the film. I'm certain he would have been nominated for an Oscar. He's an outstanding Phantom. I was luckyt enough to see him in the role one night.
I've never seen Phantom of the Opera..always wanted to but Paul sounds great and looks the part...I don't think his artistic talent should be limited to the group and painting I think this is great just wish I could see him&meet him lucky one on here that met him
Don't know if he cut his hair, it's a wig, or he usually wears a wig, but it's a bit of same that he didn't keep his familiar hairstyle. That would have been awesome.
@timfortune9 He had cut his hair...Saw him twice in this show in Toronto. Love Kiss..but wasn't expecting much from him here...but he did Great! Got to meet him outside the theatre before one of the shows :o)
Can't see him. But, YES, that's definitely Paul! I saw another upload where it's supposed to be him singing Music of the Night. But it sounds nothing like him.
Paul Stanley has no formal training in opera or singing musical theatre at all, but he sings with so much feeling and I think he does a great job singing this considering his lack of training and experience! sure, hes not technically as good as professional opera singers- but I prefer feeling over technicality!
Great job, Paul. I'm a long-time Phantom of the Opera phan myself and I was very impressed - especially since his non-musical theater background (although KISS was closer to this sort of thing than most bands - heh).
I would loved to have seen GENE as the Phantom, though (ROFL). Now THAT would be "interesting" :-P
I do have to ask if you got permission from the production company to film this? Otherwise you do know they could file for copyright infringement. I work for a performing arts center and I am constantly having to tell people they can't take pictures or film of the production or scenery.
@KingMKLA , Take it easy, man. Millons of paul stanley fans now will watch the "phantom of the opera", because of this video, like I just did. If you issue who filmed this AMATEUR video, it will be not good . It was a very good marketing.
@drmms Wasn't trying to be harsh, just honest. Legally it is copyright infringement if they did not have permission from the production company to be filming it.
@KingMKLA hows about you mind your own fucking business !!! he is a paul fan and took this footage so that other fans can enjoy it. the worst he has done is make people happy. the PRODUCTION company has already made their money, i dont think a bad quality recording will set them broke !!
by the way i seen your channel, your just a FAT fuck with nothing better to do...and by the way you look gay, the type that takes it like a bitch !!!!!!
@mammo8369 One. There is no need for that foul language. Two. I was merely stating a fact. I wasn't trying to be harsh or vindictive, just trying to protect them from possible legal processes as the show is still touring, though with different actors.
I was & am a lifelong KISS fan & I saw Paul play the Phantom in Toronto. I was shocked by how well he did. There are a couple of moments here & there it seemed like he was rocking out. Watch part 3 of this 7 you'll see what I mean when he scream "FOOL" he says it not in a operatic way, bu tmore of a Rock & roll style. Still overall I loved hi mas the Phantom & wish they had professionally filmed a performace to make a DVD or something.
He sure has his usual power to his voice, I find Crawford lacking power in comparison (in that song at least, haven't heard the whole play - still reading the book, don't want spoilers)
O.o... He just left her there D: He is suppose to catch her when she falls and take her to the bed XD But Paul as The Phantom kicks ass. First time i've seen this adn its awsome
It was okay. He sounds kind of like Michael Crawford at some points. But he needed a vocal coach to help him with the "be!". I forget what note it was but that needed some major work
as a moderate KISS fan, I don't think Paul sounds half bad in the role. he's got one strong voice. it's the girl playing Christine I think is all wrong... her voice is too weak and modern/pop-sounding.
not a bad job, but he drops a real clanker at 7:45

Only downside to that video is the mono sound...

Sarah Brightman is the one and only Christine. She sang with Paul in her album Symphony. A duet of both of this song would just blow me away!
