Smaller Airbuses that fly now in Croatia to Germany are half empty ... and Croatian airports are not busy at all ... United Arab Emirates ordered these planes , but they are SUPR RICH ... Croatia does not seem to fill this descritption... This is just a fantasy .

A380 costs around 270 milion USD, I doubt many smaller airlines will get one, only largest airlines can afford few of these, say BA, Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, Air Swiss, Iberia, SAS and so on... Small airlines like Czech, Austrian, Croatian or even Adria can only dream of getting one, no capacity or need for such extravaganza. cheers,

not sure, what you on about, but every major airport in Europe can accommodate A380, in Croatia these are Zagreb and Dubrovnik Airports, not sure about Split,
As to JAT, Croatian Airlines has deal with Lufthansa (strategic partnership) and since Munich is only 350km away...
Delta Airlines is looking to add Zagreb as one of destinations in 2010/11 connecting New York and Zagreb directly with potential for Dubrovnik Airport to be added as well. We'll see. cheers,

I see, well, he was wrong, A380 can land in quite a few places in ex-yu... Ljubljana, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Belgrade, Pula.
A380 needs minimum of 2700m long runway, or preferably 3000m long runway.
Another preference is for the runway to be Cat IIIB, if that be the merit only Ljubljana and Zagreb could accommodate A380, not sure if Belgrade has Cat IIIb runway. .
BTW, Zagreb Airport has plans to extend its runway to 3700m with in next 5 years. Current runway is 3250m long.
Delta service would be a year round thing, twice weekly, but this still needs to be negotiated...
JAL has only charter during summers, last summer it was 16 flights, year before - 8, perhaps in 2010 it is going to be even more, we'll see. 120 000 Japanese tourists visited Croatia in 2009, threrefore service has space for expansion.

Intercontinental flights are very expensive to run, and such new destinations can take up to 18 months to bring first profit. Zagreb-Sydney is something we will never see, as even JAT never flew from Zagreb to Australia back in the days of Yugoslavia. That and a hundred economy class passengers isnt going to make flights profitable. Wouldnt mind seeing JAT, Croatia and Adria cooperating and seeing maybe Belgrade-Zagreb-New York a few times a week :-)
ne decki, CA nece kupiti A380 u sljedecih 40 godina sigurno ako stanje ostane kakvo je. U slucaju da udjemo u EU, napravi se nova zracna luka zagreb, otplatimo 200 milijardi duga koliko dugujemo clanicama, otplatimo kupljene Airbusove i vratimo ovaj jedan SA-u i skupimo nekako te novce za A380, sluzio bi samo za dijelove A320-ma jer bi ga bilo preskupo odrzavat tako da... (a pricam samo o jednom A380)
Eeee barem da je to stvarnost. :(
