  • great job. But what I don't understand the difference between Task based learning and project based learning. Isn't it project based what you have done with your students ?

  • Teenage pregnancy?..... What tha... to much porn on the net

  • i m sahar . my skype id z sahar.shah9 @skype.com, i m rea people

lly interested n learning english ,i really wana talk to english

    yunita

  • @yunita311

This video was filmed at our school in Denver, Colorado. It was made about 2 years ago now. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly how many students were in the class.

    Good luck with your project!

  • ty so much.

  • Great. Thanks.

  • i think this video is excellent, but do u have any reflection for this lesson?

    1. Your goal is clearly and realistically stated

    2. You involve students in learning through a task-based activity.

    But.....(perhaps)

1.When a group is presenting, you should have asked other classmates to do some peer assessment to enhance their reflective ability or think of 1 or 2 Qs to question about the group's ideas afterwards.

    Possible?

  • That was interesting, but we did not see how you give the students corrections. I think that would be valuable to show. I would like to see the approach that you take to accomplish that.

  • @makinawdandy6699 We do have videos for error correction techniques as part of our library of videos. To see a list of topics we offer, check out TEFLVideos online!

  • I really love your idea! The lesson is great! The task you set is a well-chosen one and very learner-centered. All skills are integrated in the lesson and the Ss use the lg productively and receptively, in an unrehearsed context. Is the handout which you gave them available somewhere on the web? Cheers

  • she needs to stop repeating what the students say-cut down on teacher talk time

  • @shnazer1 Yep, you're right. She should stop echoing Ss' answers.

  • I agree that this too broad. Instead of wasting time "eliciting", ask Ss to brainstorm problems in pairs, then assign each pair to design ONE AREA of the Utopian society. This focuses them more and as they present, it gives others a reason to listen as they would have to question, disagree or agree before adding info to their own papers--teacher don´t speak, just correct them. Follow-up with language focus...

  • @lackadaddyz

THIS IS NOT A TBL CLASS WHERE THE MAIN AIM IS TO HAVE STUDENTS "DISCOVER" THROUGH COMMUNICATIVE ACTIVITIES. HERE, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT HER MAIN AIM IS TO HAVE THEM SPEAKING, WHICH IS FULFILLED, BUT WHAT DID THEY "NOTICE" SHE GAVE THEM EXAMPLES OF WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO PRODUCE. NOT A TBL CLASS.

  • GABY ESTE TAMBIEN PODRIAMOS ANALIZARLO

  • teacher has a beer belly brewing XD

  • whoa, this was really useful! I'm currently studying TEFL in Mexico, this video is great, it helped me to improve a lesson i'm working on ;)

  • @pooch18

I'm glad you enjoyed it! We actually have over 100 videos on our website, TEFLVideos. Take a look!

  • @BridgeTEFL oh sure I will! thank you very much!

  • This is good, but You'd warn students about "false cognates" like in 2:55's "Principal", a word that means "main" for Spanish speakers. We need to be corrected.

And try to be openminded: 6:21

Student: No govenrment, (just) some leaders.

Teacher: Oh my! ... And people are ok with this?

Most of us in Americas are used to find a way out for ourselves, so we'd be ok with anarchy (as in people being aware enough about everything that behavior-imposing institutions wouldn't be needed)

  • great video!! I even laughed with the students haha!!

I am studying TEFL and ICT in Morocco. Those videos are very helpful...

    keep up!

  • good idea for practicing TBL,thanks alot I like it

  • We can create scenarios self for class room activities

  • This just seems like more teacher controlling and manipulating, students rather than students learning. Let students read, listen, and when they feel like it, talk on subjects of interest. TPL treats adults like children and creates artificial communication scenarios dreamed up a teacher. I would not attend such a class.

  • The teacher echoes students answers but a really good lesson though, thanks for posting.

  • The task seems a bit too complicated. Usually what happens is that they start jabbering away in their native language.

  • Hello Uncle5cary, this is a great activity for more advanced students. I could see how beginner and intermediate students might find this too difficult.

  • It is not always like that. Consider a multilingual class. In this particular situation Ss will be forced to use the little language they have.

  • oh hey. she is good looking

  • excellent video. I really enjoy it and it is a very good idea this TBL activity. Thank you so much and by the way, you are really pretty.

  • GREAT

  • nice to see some real TBL videos on youtube

  • great video, keep posting!

  • good task, I liked it

  • haha great video
