@zaffe93 weak shit plane..get the fuck outta here..the superhornet engine is far better than mig-35 engine,the superhornet engine have a dry thrust of (14,000 lbf) while the mig-35 engine have a dry thrust of (11,900 lbf)..superhornet also have a afterburner thrust of (22,000 lbf) while mig-35 afterburner thrust is only (19,840 lbf)..clearly f-18sh is the stronger jet,it also carry more weapons than mig35 n its new upgraded avionics are superior to mig-35..so f-18sh is a very great fighter jet.

@zaffe93 only thing su-35 n mig-35 have thats superior to superhornet is t-vectoring..but having t-vectoring doesnt means you automatically win air combat..put "Indo-US Red Flag Air Force Exercise Lecture 2008 Part 1" here on utube a see a u.s colonel brag about how u.s f-15's piloted by u.s instructor beat india su-30mki that have t-vectoring in a merge mock air combat fight..so superhornet in hands of a well trained pilot might do the same against t-vectoring jets.

....can take this bird down. When intercepted 4rm 7nm down to minimum contact range, it is vunerable 4rm missiles n cannons and cannot out run even short range AIM-9 Sidewinders. So if ever in that situation n backed in a corner, this girl is over aggressive and WILL out class any missiles thrown at her. Once in a postition 2 shoot, well the rest is history. F-14's/F15's n F22's are Intercepters. F16's/FA-18's and Typhoons are multirole aircrafts. Get To Know yeah!!

To ever1 that claims this plane isnt usefull, u gotta do more research!. FA-18's and it's successor the FA-18 Super Hornet are Fighter BOMBERS! Not fighter jets. That role is for the F-14!. FA-18's primary role as a Carrier Jet is to bomb as its the only bomber onboard a Carrier! Once it's role is completed, its next task is to AVOID interception. To do so, there had 2 be a balance between power and agility. This plane can out-manourver all but the F-22 n F-16. Not even a Eurofighter...........

2:06 - 2:10 shows to me what would be a "useful Cobra" using the high AoA abilities to snap a missile or gun shot upwards while with decently high momentum. Not too much energy is lost and the aircraft is quickly pushed back into a more typical flight regime since the plane isn't pulled up long and high in angle enough to lose too much energy.

@mobius1aic - It's a silly thing to do with an airplane. I'd doubt the Hornet's nose would snap back forward, but it would definitely make the smallest loop you've ever seen. Would not want to have to fight a Hornet close and slow. I don't care if I've got thrust vectoring or whatever... Scary airplane when it gets slow. ;)

@aaron8862006 In combat it is a bit silly (though useful in a one on one - which would probably never happen). Many of us look at it as a validation of it's all-around capabilities to pull high AoA, produce high amounts of lift, as well as maneuver impulse. It's also fun to watch, even if it's not that useful. Plus you never know, maybe that hard snap may be what's necessary to bore a missile onto a target (though of course, we got high aspect missiles now - *sigh* )

@tomjohnson1974 No Man, in the USA only the F-22 so far has it. But the F-18 has a great aerodynamics and great engines above de rest of the military airplanes

@zam1614 Honestly, I would consider the Super Hornet to be a bit underpowered compared to other aircraft, however, in an air combat configuration, it still has a 1:1 thrust to weight ratio. However it can carry ALOT of weight, more payload than other aircraft of it's size.
