  • @elliotalfaro Check out the comments below for info on where to get the red strat. The SFG is out of production.. so Ebay would be your best bet.

  • Hi, I´m from Chile south america, I´m going to EEUU next week, do you know where I can find a Richie Kotzen´s telecaster model? I´m really interesting to buy it, but i think is only on sale in Japan.

    Thanks

  • @wwwena I got mine from Japan, and the SFG one from a store in the Netherlands which unfortunately went bankrupt. Which countries in the EU are you going to visit? I might know of a few stores that still have the RK tele in stock, alhough you have to keep in mind that the models are discontinued. :(

  • Hello Divine ..

I really like this model of guitar.

I just have one doubt about the shape of the neck in this model.

They say it is too large. True Baseball Bat (super rounded).

    This is true?

Please tell me what impression you have about this guitar's neck in this model ?

    Thanks.

    Roger

  • @Geromao Hey Geromao, I just got word from a friend of mine that the RK tele has a D shape and the strat has a C shape, therefore, the strat feels a little bit 'slimmer'. I don't have any problems with thick necks as I actually like them a lot, but yes they are thicker than the necks on regular fender strats.

  • Amazing sound!

  • Thanks!

  • mmm i can't find it dude. Can you link me the page please?

  • Youtube won't let me place a link, but go to google, type Katana Guitars. Somewhere on their main page on their website you'll see the guitar. Be careful buying from local websites tough. Try locating their Ebay page.

  • Hey man amazing vid! But i gotta a question : where I can find this guitar in this particoular finish? I've never seen this guitar before and I can't find it nowhere on the net, even in the main Fender Site , the didn't mention it.

  • Hey Trisherone,

    Thanks!

They sell this guitar only in Japan. I got mine via Ebay, try searching for a store named Katana Guitars. If you're planning on buying this guitar sent me a message and I'll tell you the process I went through.

    Peace

  • is the tremolo good? i mean can u lower the pitch, and do wild stuff(i know strat tremolos can also be capable of handeling that......) in a hendrixy, blackmourishy and yngwie way?

  • Can the tremolo lower the pitch:

Yes, but of course not as deep like a floyd rose tremelo. If you set your tremelo up like Scott Henderson, you can also go up in pitch.

    Is the tremelo good:

Honestly, I don't know, since I never used the tremelo on this strat. The tremolo block is steel (which is good) and the nut seems decent.

I'm not sure, but I think I've seen some videos where Richie uses the tremelo bar.

  • tnx for the answer! :) nice guitar and good musical taste btw.! ;)

  • You're welcome and thanks!

  • gret guitar.... what kind of dimarzio are there on guitar?

    thanks......;-)

  • These are called 'custom' dimarzio pickups. Designed to match the needs of Richie Kotzen. I think that the sound of the Dimarzio HS-3 pickups comes close.

  • so do you think that are better the HS-3 or HS-2?

  • Honestly, I wouldn't know, because I never owned any of those pickups. I only have experience with the 'custom' dimarzio pickups, but Dimarzio said that the sound comes close to the HS-3. The description of the HS-3 fits to some degree with the sound of the pickups in my RK strat. However, if you have the chance try to find clips of both pickups.

  • got a question, do these single coil create any hums? i am thinking about getting one of these too =D

  • Hey Johnny,

Yes, they do create some hum, altough I have the feeling that there is less hum then a 'normal' single coil. Check some of the Sao Paulo live recordings by Richie Kotzen, in some songs you can hear his strat pickups hum. I think it was in the song 'So Cold' live in Sao Paulo.

  • Cool sound dude! Nice lick at 0:35 especially! What gear did you use? Tonelab? Blackstar? BB Preamp? 535Q? ;)

  • HAHAHAHA! I used my Tonelab. Btw, how much does the sound of your RK strat's neck pick up differ from a 'normal' strat? I have the feeling the sound is quite different..?

  • It does actually, it's one of the reasons why I bought it! The sound is much more modern and way more dynamic than any other Strat. It's also well more capable of high gain sounds than any other single coiled Strat probably due to the high output pickups. These may cause amps with insufficient headroom to fuzz instead of overdrive. All the inbetween positions sound quite simular though. And still it sounds very natural. Fingers, string, pick and wood... That's all you'll hear!

  • Ah thanks. Indeed the sound is much more modern. I have to adjust my ear because somehow I was expecting a more vintage sound haha. I just pumped up the again, amazing how clear the sound stays!

  • Thanks everyone!

  • Very nice and bluesy, Divine! Sounds wonderful. RK inhabits that guitar . . .

  • Now that's a beautiful Stratocaster, hope to see more clips with this one! Feli!

  • good work divine and great guitar!

  • What a beautiful guitar! Like the sound and the playing. 5*

  • Gran guitarra.

    Felicidades y a disfrutarla.

  • Thanks jgy777!

  • looks and sounds great! is it a new official RK model?? does it have the same PU as on the tele's?

  • Thanks bro! No, it's the same strat model, just a different colour. The PU's are different, they are called 'custom' Dimarzio pickups, custom made for RK.

  • Can you hear a big difference between those PU's and the ones on the Tele?

  • Considering the guitars being different body/construction wise, there will be differences. Between the Chopper T and the pickups? on the strat you hear a big difference, because the Chopper T is a stacked humbucker and not a typical single coil. I also hear differences between the twang king and the 'custom' dimarzio pickups. The twang king is obviously designed for a tele in order to 'twang'. So, yes there are clear differences in my opinion. Hope this helps!

  • Thank you all!!

  • Yeah... very nice playing... and so beautiful guitar ;-)

  • nice playing

    5*

  • GJ man. Nice guitar!

  • very nice, dude
