@2142jjj There are a few pistols in the game. Some or most officers carry them. You'll find Tokarev pistols in "No Turning Back", mission #3. I'm not 100% sure but there might be an officer carrying a pistol in mission #2.
I've used to ambush them in the valley, but ever since it went easier in Mokropsy, I've always prepared the ambush directly in the village. The space is far more narrow and the enemy lacks the amount of visibility offered by the valley's sparse vegetation. I love the freedom of OFP's decision making. :-)
@MrViolentGames Because only v1.00 of OFP had the command that that activates, which was allowDamage false. It was removed it later patches but the cheat was not. The allowDamage false command was put back in ARMA 2.
@MrViolentGames I can save more often than once by using the ingame save game "cheat". Other than that, it's a good thing you didn't actually bet $100000000.

By the way, instead of specifically telling your men to lay down when you want them to stay out of sight, give the orders 'STEALTH' or 'DANGER' (That's 7-1 and 7-2 respectively), and they'll lay down of their own accord whenever they're stopped in one place for any length of time.
Also, something else I find very useful is 'ENGAGE AT WILL', if you issue that command, your men will spread out and run from cover to cover rather than stay in formation. Use 'DISENGAGE' to get them to fall back in.
ECP is great, even though, unlike FDF, it didn't change some of the annoying issues in the default game, like the fact that all the AKs have a 3-round burst mode or the fact that medics, snipers and civvies can only carry some items. Fortunately, I figured out how to modify ECP's config.cpp to change those things.
You could tell them to 'stop' when they're in the right place (select a unit(s) then press 1 and 6), or you could select each man individually and order him to go somewhere out of sight, there are many different ways.

If you save a satchel charge from the previous mission (get it off one of the Spetsnaz), you can use it on the tank in this mission.
