  • i agree with nodave77. it looked like his tendon or mucle in his neck was going wild. you would be able to actually see the jugular veinoutline

  • The better term for it is, JVP, jugular venous pulse. JVD (distension) correlates to pulmonary capillary wedge pressure and is slightly different (hepatojugular reflex) than the JVP (pulse), which is used based on the wave to determine specific etiologies of the heart issue.

  • Thanks! Really helped me see what biphasic pulsation looks like.

  • That's not JVD

  • Wow, that's very handy. I'm learning about JVP in nursing school right now. Up until now I was only able to find visual references to a non distended JV. Now I know what an "abnormal" finding might look like (in an adult). Thanks for sharing!

  • Wow, that is massive. Can someone tell me, is that giant 'a' wave, or is the whole JVP elevated?

  • Thanks for the post. I learned about JVD in class but never saw it.

  • it seems that your son may be complaining from an Atrial Septal Defect

    ASD

I think you may refer him to a pediatrictian

for consultation and performing an echocardiography

But you should notice, It may be a normal variant,

but I think it'll be safer if you consult a doctor

  • wow thats mad, is that normal?

  • looks like heart failure

  • whoa does your son have high blood pressure or heart failure
