I was thinking that 4sq should do something similar to what rally up is doing...but just an option... 4sq has something similar for their celebrities. I believe the celebs can do updates to just their close friends. hopefully they open that option to everyone. great post guys and gals :)
This is Jacob from Rally Up. Loved the conversation you guys were having about our app.
In regards to our option to allow you to ignore people - we realized that there is a lot of "social pressure" to accept everyone as a friend. As much as people don't want to, they accept people as friends anyway because they don't want to offend anyone. The ignore options allow you to do that, but still keep your data private and the noise to an acceptable level.
@IDunno011 Thx 4commenting. I think it is a neat idea and understand the pressure of adding people so they don't question you and then unintentionally offend them. I am unsure what Rally Up will offer different from other social sites?....for instance when you ignore on FB it does not notify the person.
@IDunno011 The second question is how is it a social network as the term it is used as today if it keeps you from interacting with people you may not even know? I ask this for informational value and not to diminish the product for I am sure it will very useful.

Hope that helps! Thanks!
