I love how Belew imitates Levin's voice on the chorus echoes. I wish the video hadn't been turned all psychedelic, but the music speaks for itself anyway.
Yep. This is what real musicians used to be able to do live, and make look easy. It is amazing how fresh this still sounds today, 30 years later. Truly frighting musicianship and talent at their collective peak.
Perhaps the most long-lived and creative rock bands of all time. I love all of their lineups, all the way back to Greg Lake, and up to Gavin Harrison playing in the Crimson Project. Robert Fripp has always been a genius. Never sold out, ever, always trying new types of music-metal, prog. ballads
3 very different versions of k.c.... the percussive element and chapman stick DRIVE in this version is irresistible ...the other 2 versions are more cerebral ..thank god i have 'em all....i must not be a fallen angel.
Pound for pound one of THE most talented bands ever . . .and not really played on commercial radio! Why? Because mediocrity sells BIG! and Crim was miles from mediocre.
Amazing band, amazing individuals, amazing sound, amazing song. Bill Bruford is my biggest influence on the drums and Tony Levin is ..... just th best bass player I have ever heard and continuously listened to.
three musicians who blend well together, keep in mind this is live recording, just listen how tight their sound is!!!! Adrian a master of techno guitar, Robert Fripp a great rythm player, and Toni Levin on bass and keys is fabulous. No wonder Peter Gabriel had him play for him for years!!!
@BLUESMANRONCHICAGO "The drummer"?? I'm not having that. Bill Bruford was easily as important to KC as the rest, and is just as unique and influential a musician as Fripp or Belew.
@ForAllDebts I'd even say that BB was THE drummer in the band, and maybe the most innovative. Not to say the best for all jobs, but with his presence, both the musical parts and the sonic colors were pushed into new territories, not to mention his general precision for navigating such challenging things as they put together in this era. Guys before him were good drumset players in a jazz influenced way, and PM clever but a bit derivative. BB really defined KC drumming.
yeah, the stick element makes it complete in and of itself... then adding the genius upon genius.. . layers of genius and groovy electro-afro-poly-rhythmo-psychedelia ice cream cone shop fire
today's music needs more artists like these guys, who are serious about what the music sounds like, and not whether it fits into the small narrow minds of today's general music buying audience who will listen to anything, case in point, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, etc.........
you're right of course- they are wonderful, as are Fripp, and especially Bill Bruford. slight niggle- it's Adrian Belew- the master deserves at least a proper spelling :-)

I still can't figure why some fans hate this line up. IMO one of the best. LONG LIFE TO THE KING!!
And with Math Rock we'll have this Crimson sound for at least another decade.

their smooth movement between bridges in this song and the guitar interplay between Fripp and Belew is absolutely perfect.
