    R. Alagna's version is SO much better!!

  • @darksecretsoul shut the fuck up this wasnt his only perfomance

  • @NZYE geez... -.- are you stupid or what?? can't i have an opinion??

  • @darksecretsoul your calling me stupid.. atleast give me the reason why you are calling me stupid.. you are judging pavarotti for this perfomance.. R. Alagna is a nobody compared to Pavarotti

  • @NZYE His original post had nothing to do with you. He simply said he felt it lacked emotion and Alagna's performance was better. I agree, doesn't mean either is right. It's personal preference.

  • @NZYE I wasnt judging Pavarotti, i was judging THE performance... who cares if i don't like it? Tastes in music are not the same for everyone right? So... why were you so pissed of by what i wrote?

  • 19 and I think this guy is absolutely stunning. I was sad to learn of his passing :(

  • @YaikonMetal I'm 13 and I love this,so shut up no one cares about your age, beauty is beauty and age has nothing to do with it.

  • @nemesis962074 umm, i never said it did? lol. that was kind of a fail.

  • @YaikonMetal what I'm saying is that by mentioning your age you try to make your self look more special. maybe you didn't said that but most of the time when people mention their age is to look better.

  • @nemesis962074 ah i see. haha i never really meant anything by that. not even sure why i put it there. sorry about the somewhat hostile reply before :)

  • @YaikonMetal no problem,my comment was kind of out of line too.

  • @1DaMag1 No they didn't,they just convinced them to like this singer with 7 bloody heads.no connection with the Godfather of Frank Sinatra.

    1000000000000000000000000000000+

  • @superestrelhaa That's not just opinion that's widely known fact. Bocelli is a sub par vocalist and no wehere near the league of Pavarotti.

  • Act! While in delirium, I no longer know what I say,or what I do! And yet it's necessary... make an effort! Bah! Are you not a man?You are a clown! Put on your costume, powder your face. The people pay to be here, and they want to laugh. And if harlequin shall steal your Columbina, laugh, clown, so the crowd will cheer! Turn your distress and tears into jest, your pain and sobbing into a funny face - Ah! Laugh, clown,at your broken love! Laugh at the grief that poisons your heart!

  • in my opinion Richard Tucker is the master of this song. well i haven't heard everybody but from the ones that i heard i liked Tucker the best on this song

  • grande indiscusso!

  • way too fast

  • I love both, but Placido Domingo owns this song

  • @mchelo18 I think that Pavarotti as a singer might have been just slightly better, but you cannot deny that Domingo is a stunning actor when he sings this.

  • 1:42

    Ridi Pagliaccio!

  • Thank you Crazy Joe Davola for introducing me to this beautiful opera!

  • Comment removed

  • BRAVO!!!!!

  • The emotion that he puts into this aria is backed up by the incredible power of his voice. Magnificent!

  • too fast

  • Fantastic, nothing more to say.

  • Foremost, music is about how it makes one feel. When I listen to Pavarotti, I am swept up emotionally. But I, and surely many others, must concede that when it comes to "staying true" to the creator's intentions--i.e. sounding like the opera's creator wanted it to sound--I am an amateur.

  • Vesti la giubba e la faccia infarina.

La gente paga e rider vuole qua.

    E se Arlecchin t'invola Colombina,

    ridi, Pagliaccio... e ognun applaudirà!

    Tramuta in lazzi lo spasmo ed il pianto;

  • pelle d'oca...

  • rest in peace majestro

  • wundervoll!!!!

  • <3 <3

  • que Deus o tenha em bom lugar

  • best tenors modern

  • AT ABOUT 2:OO HE'S ABOUT TO EXPLODE...

  • MWAHAHAHA..... YOU RULE PAVA !!!!

  • man i love Pavarotti hes the best

  • freakin amazing! bravo!

  • Truly magnificent! So emotionally moving. I miss you Luciano.

  • The emotion...perfect.

  • What language is this? i wanna learn it. This is beatiful

  • Italian

  • Italian.

  • Bifolco, è Italiano.

  • Caruso's version of this will, for me, always be the epitome of dramatic tenor singing, but way up there with him are Placido Domingo's version, the sublime lyricism of DiStefano, and Bjorling's marvelous rendering. Pavarotti offers a marvelous version, both lyric and dramatic, full of the heart and vocal color that makes Pavarotti a gift to all who have heard him. Bravo, Maestro: you leave your indelible mark on this great aria, and it is a pleasure to visit with you.

  • @jd1906sf His voice is sublime. My personal favorite performance of this is Roberto Alagna's as he best captures the emotion of the piece. Again, opinion only.

  • Bravo, bravo, bravissimo! E grazie Luciano.

  • spettacolare... niente altro d'aggiungere

  • porca miseria esto es increible

  • i prefer caruso and del monaco's version

  • Placido Domingo. Best version of

"Vesti la guibba" hands down, but I like Pavarortti on this as well.

  • *giubba*

  • This is one of the great performances of vesti la giubba. The acting, all through the face, is superb, with a combination of anger and sadness perfectly befitting the music. Comparisons aside, this is a masterpiece, from a lovely blessed man we all will miss.

  • Yes Pav has always been overrated, result of sheer PR machinery that followed him during last 20 years of his singing- when he had spent far more time doing recitals then in opera houses.(in joke I say that the only place in which he didnt sing Nessun Dorma was my garden). Thats why I dont bother to listen Pav post-'70s, only during 60s&70s he was true opera great, in best vocal form, after that- commerciality, media fuzz, pr machinery but at least opera was promoted by him back then.

  • Before saying bullshits, go back and study the beggining of his carreer and his bel canto and you will understand why he is so deservely well-rated!

  • A previous writer declared Pavarotti the best tenor in history.

In my view, he is not even among the top 100 tenors. His voice was choppy. It lacked the depth and power of Caruso and other singers.

  • You are american, you don't even know what opera is!!!! Please!

  • Pavarotti is the best Tenor to have his records and study over and improve one's self if you are a serious tenor -by depth in the voice, yes pavarotti was not a dramatic tenor like Caruso but the bulk his voice carries oh men if you can't here it and sence it you are missing a lot!

  • Pavarotti not even in the top 100 tenors of all tme?!! This is the most stupid comment I've heard on youtube, and I've heard many. You're an idiot.

  • I didn't mean to insult you. But to say such a thing is just ludicrous, man!

  • Nah brother, I bet your ears are pretty stupid too,

I agree he is maby not the greatest but to just say what you did... Moronic...

    No offence, of cource.

  • learn how to spell firsts before you call someone an idiot.

  • wow... Seems to me that you really are a stupid idiot no matter how you spell XD

  • @boxingin Who ever stated that has no idea of opera, period.

Pavarotti is either one or two ever, depending on wheather you prefer Caruso or Pavarotti.

  • @alan11855 Maybe he or Caruso are the best of all time, take your pick. Mine is Franco Corelli and then Jose Carreras because I think they have the best feel. But to say Pavarotti wasn't a great tenor is insane!

  • @boxingin who said such stupid word???

  • @mauriciomille Someone a little while ago. You must go back and read some of the old messages.

  • complimenti maestro!!!

  • -10 !!!!!!! .................

  • Absolutly fabulous, unsurpassed. What a powerfull voice !

    R.I.P Maestro

    Regards from France

  • riiiiiiiiiiiidi pagliaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaccciooooooooooooo

  • Domingo has the same singing level - and is much more expressive and a better actor on this masterpiece of music. Compare to v=g8-SuM2VwUU and make your opinion. :)

  • I was at a workshop this summer and saw a video of Arrigo Pola (luciano's teacher) speaking about the phenomenon tenors have requiring them to open up as soprano's do on notes above the secondo passaggio, rather than rounding them. This is why domingo is criticized so heavily, he doesn't open up after G4, he keeps his lips rounded. Domingo's C5's leave something to be desired because he didn't understand the vowel modification required for notes above the secondo passaggio...

  • But what about expression? Opera is not only about C5's and C4's. Pavarotti may have a perfect C5 but to me he lacks on feeling and personification as is clear in this performance.

  • Not true have you seen his actual performance that they have on here. You got to be kidding me. I always say that if you can't do it and do it better, than you have no right to say anything about someone who can.

  • well its a dramatic masterpiece and pavarotti wasnt a dramatic tenor like domingo

  • I'll never understand how someone can project their voice so well. Incredible.

Merci JANOS ACS........ERIC V.

  • Imo: Caruso would be proud.

  • Some people should never die.

  • Thank you Big Luciano for making Italy great again with ur voice

  • The best tenor ever. Simply put.

  • I couldnt agree more

  • I would have to say best opera singer ever.

  • That's too close to call... Pavarotti is absolutely the best tenor in our history, hands down, but as for the best "opera singer," you can't really compare apples to oranges - Pavarotti is a tenor, whereas Joan Sutherland is a female soprano with roughly equal ability in her field. In addition, there are quite a few big names on the rise as we speak. I've been to the Metropolitan Opera seven times now and I've heard some incredible voices that may soon be Pavarotti's spiritual successors.

  • @gerbear24 listen mario lanza singing vesti la giubba and give me your opinion

  • @gerbear24 best tenor that ever was and ever will be. <3

  • @gerbear24 No, that was Caruso.

  • You can see how he channeled his emotions, he became the music! Truly a genius of opera! Bravissima!!
