She got the Two Episodes mixed up, they did not turn the couch around when Vanessa went to see the Wretched, the episode where they turned the couch around is when Vanessa was out with a Boy and she came home late...
She is my inspiration, as well as the character of Claire Huxtable. I aspire to be so graceful, strong, funny and confident. My God is she beautiful..
They should do a reunion season. That's right, SEASON. This show was and is such a positive influence on where family to should aim to go. Nothing is ever cut and dry obviously but this show didn't sugar coat everything either.
She's is still Gorgeous!!! as Hell... Thank you Bill Cosby for having such a good
show, with a positive Black man in charge... Women forgive me for sounding
so chauvinistic, it just that have that kinda of Father in the Family home was
rare, in the late 50' and early 60'... I was very blessed to have my Father and Mother and our lives because so many kids in my neighbor hood didn't have a father figure of any kinda... So for the ones that didn't have a father Bill Cosby kinda fill that void
I absolutely love her she is a true talent. She perfected the role of Clair I cant see anyone else in that role. She shows African American women in a different light.
She is the definition of true class and elegance .
i want to be like Claire. Always wanted to. Beautiful, Successful career woman, great mother, great wife, talented. i even want to learn Spanish LOL!! Claire is an inspiration for all women and girls esp. of color.
She's right about being authentic how we all are human and are just trying to live. At times I think cultures get in the way of people's misinterpretations of others. As an African-American woman I grew up with other AAs, but also with Asians, Latinos and others. I thought and still think that yeah that's nice, but then some of the reasons I see people hate each other also has a cultural bearing. Go figure.
I'm sure she has read the Bible. She was always so wise. I use to love how she would butter up Mr. Cosby or sing to him. I hope I can grow with grace as she has. She's so talented. I watched her read a poem made by her mother on Def Jam Poetry. There's no one like Mrs. Rashad!!
She has always been and still is one of the most beautiful and most elegant women EVER!! And so good as an actress, they couldn't find a better clair....that show was perfect!!!
why is it that whenever there is a wealthy and happily married black husband and wife who have children who they discipline that they sometimes get deemed as acting white? not nearly all white people are like this, and this show is people just being who they really are and nothing more. great show.
I agree- Im a teacher in a school where 70% of the children are black and I can tell you, you generally get more response and support from a lot more of the black families than the white ones- so when is see things like this then I actually think thats more of a reality!
Thank u so much for the show and letting these redneck realize that we(black) people are capable of achieving anything if we given the chance...lol...may God bless u and Bill and all the crew...
you never lied, sister. the reason why there are no such shows anymore is because the ones pulling the strings behind tv do not want blacks to be influenced by positive images. just like 'soul food' another positive black show showing how black families supposes to function.
You're right. The show showed another side of the black community. We are everywhere but what saddens me is the attitude about this show. See, The Cosby Show, The Fresh Prince is said to be 'unrealistic' and so many black people avoid these shows because they are 'black people trying to be white.' It's bad here in New York ... but I notice that it comes more from older generations. Maybe it will end soon ...
in a sense i can see and understand why you might feel their will never be another cosby show but being a fairly positive person i feel that their is a great chance of seeing another reincarnation of the cosby show and i wouldn't be surprised if bill cosby had something to do with it even if he didn't star in it

And some poeple criticize the show because "it didn´t reflect the black reality", as if black reality has to be crime and drugs. The Cosby show was unique: it supported family values like love and peace. The characters went to school, Bill Cosby was a doctor, the parents were a loving couple, and preached the concept that if you work hard you can get the life you want.
I have an Aunt who's just like her. Funny thing is whenever I go to visit her and my uncle, it really did and still does feel like I was on tapping of the Cosby Show, back in the 80's 90's and even now.
Though she's about 20years older than me, I would marry her immediately, how can I get her contact? hahahahahaha she embodies CLASS and motherhood! Thank you!!!
She is a timeless beauty. I love to see her speak. She owned the Clair Huxtable role. I think my favorite Claire moment was when she told Even off in the first season because he said something about her getting Dr. Huxtable a cup of coffee. She starts off by saying, "let me tell you something Elvin..." that was when the audience went wild because they knew she was going to let him have it in her own classy, down-to-earth, Claire Huxtable way.
To ECE: Yeah, I remember that too, when she told Elvin where to get off. ^_~
(Elvin hadn't even THOUGHT about it that maybe Cliff could get Clair a cup of coffee, that they could both do favors for each other and it was not just all about gender.)
To taqwa01: I know what you mean. Firm but fair (and funny too)...witty and wise and nice AND able to put your foot down WITHOUT being mean or hurting the kids' feelings. That's a great goal to have. I hope you DO achieve it someday! ^_^
Whenever this woman speaks, it sounds like poetry. There is a rhythm and a beauty to her speech that is always present in every interview and every performance she has ever given. I adore her!
i look for interviews by her. i can only hope to acheive her grace and eloquence. as a new mother, i look to her character Claire (however silly this may sound) for some guidance in how to remain patient, calm, cool and collected but wise in decision making and ...witty :) all at once so as not to nurture resentment in my children. Claire never yelled....never had power struggles. what she said went. and lets hope thats not just tv magic. i want it in my own home.
Not a pipeMy mom was Claire Huxtable before there was a Claire Huxtable!LOL She was a stockbroker & my dad worked for a Fed Reserve. What mom says still goes...& she never needs to yell. Her wisdom, in every situation, shines through & her advice is always sought & respected.
How did she do it, you may ask?
She put time into us kids, taught us to seek our own dreams, loves us for who we really are, never was 'holier-than-thou & ALWAYS told us the truth, no matter how it made her look.:)
People who criticize the Cosby Show for not being a real 'black experience' are brainwashed. Plain and simple. You've fed into the trap that all black people behave like coons and literal porch monkeys and should be portrayed as such. Sad. Don't like the Cosby Show? Go watch House of Payne then. Normally positive black tv does not stand the test of time because we as a whole would rather see foolishness from our race. I commend the Cosby Show and all those that were involved in it. ;-)
@eyeonwashparish you know at times i see the cosby show on and i watch it, and when i was a kid i used to watch it and laugh but understood little , now i watch it and at times im like "oh thats corny" or thats this and that but ure right, it has stood the test of time and if one opens their minds to it its very educative, im not asking for another cosby show like family sitcom but house of pain is an embarrasment....whoever says a black couple cant be a doctor and lawyer is a retard
This has to be one of the most overrated actresses of all time. My theatre class studied her work and I personally can't see what makes her so good. Her interviews are pretentious and smug at best.
And one comment got a positive 30 for saying that she's better than Paris Hilton. The two can't be compared.
I think she worked well with Bill Cosby and all the kids. The show wasn't terribly believable, not because the family is black but because both parents had challenging careers, but still unlimited time for all 5 kids. Claire, in addition to being beautiful was married to a successful doctor who also happenen to be one of the funniest people in the world! She was always in her kitchen well groomed, serving up delicious healthy meals.Still the show was entertaining and had postive role models.
I just have so much admiration for her as well as Debbie Allen for their contributions to the legacy of African American women, they have done it w/ such class, she is really someone to look up to for me.
you took the word right out of my mouth...authenically human...which is why I am glad Bill brough John amos on the show because I feel like the character of james evans was in a way robbed of his ability to be authenically human
i don't ever recall John Amos appearing on the show. not as special guest or in a recurring role. maybe you're thinking about his role in the LL Cool J. sitcom "In the House."
people who critise the cosby show forget when it was made and what type of shows aimed at or about black people were like it showed black people in a positive way and how similar we all are
The way she raises her eyebrows, bats her eyelids and still keeps a straight expression on her face- I used to think that was the sexiest look a woman could give to her man. I practice it often.
I'm not sure I much like her but what she says at the end is so true. People who criticise the Cosby Show because it didn't concentrate on the colour of the actors are completely missing the point. My guess is it did more to enhance the image of black people than any show claiming, claiming, to be about 'real life black experience'. It was also damn funny!
I was so proud when she won her Tony Award. Phylicia and Claire were a perfect match for one another because Phylicia brought her own stlye and class and grace to the charachter. Imagine how lucky her daughter is! To have both Phylicia Rashad AND Claire Huxtable as a mother!!
Ms Rashad was the last of my favorite heartthrob TV females that I liked growing up. The lineage went something like this: Angela Cartwright (Make Room for Daddy, Lost in Space); Elizabeth Montgomery (Bewitched); Marlo Thomas - (That Girl); Denise Nicholas - will forever be my favorite!! (Room 222); Bea Arthur - what can I say (Maude); Bernadette Stanis -fresh face, but they never developed her character, so this one didn't last long (Good Times); Phylicia Rashad (Cosby Show)... memories.
Cosby was one of my favorites too, brothers and sisters extending through culture and color. You don't have to be Caucasian, Afro-American, Hispanic, or Asian to be my brother.
She reminds me a lot of her character on the show. She really does have that same soothing speaking manner and classy, elegant persona about her. Haha! I love her. I have always had a crush on her.
man, there will probably never be another show like the cosby show, especially since it was so groundbreaking at the time. but thank goodness for all those nick at night reruns, they had me crackin up just the other night.
I love her role on the Cosby's. Most of the time I watch the show just to see her. She is truely a phenomenal actress. I know people whom said they've met her before, and they tell me that she is just as beautiful inside as she is outside. I would love to meet her, and I dreeeeeeeeam to one day have a classy wife just like claire.
I can't STAND Clair Huxtable. She has got to be the most smug TV mom ever. In one episode she was so cruel to one of the kids for being out late. A hateful character. Her behavior in that episode could be seen as mental abuse. Then again, I was never much for the Cosby Show anyway. Why do people like it so much? I just can't understand it.
I bet that you, threerandot, are either an Roseanne or Married With Children fan since they are always the main ones hating on The Cosby Show. The CHARACTER(remember, it's just an character) was the most gorgeous mother ever to grace the screen, she was intelligent, loving, and a class act. A first on American T.V.
Wow. TV shows just don't have that kind of transcendant power anymore. The Cosby Show never felt like you were watching a TV show, it felt like you were watching real life; parts of your own family experiences reflected. I swear it feels like I grew up on in that brownstone on Stigwood Ave. Such a beautiful & classy woman Miss Rashad is. (Phi-Skee!) Her facial expressions/mannerisms reminds me A LOT of my own mother. Especially when she catches you in a lie.
God bless Phylicia Rashad. Why can't we have more shows like "The Cosby Show" on today? Why can't we have more people in this world like Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad?
It was not the episode when Vanessa went to the concert that Cliff and Claire turned the couch around, but it was the episode when Vanessa had Rudy to lie about her whereabouts when Vanessa was out with a boy. The episode about the concert Cliff and Claire drove to Vanessa friend house to meet her when they found out that she lied staying at a friend house, but instead her and her friends went to Baltimore to attend a Wretched concert
she is so well spoken and has so much class, she's always impressed me as herself because on the show she was the "pants wearer" in the family and it shows in her real personality because she's always so poised and dignified like a true matriarch would be, excellent work and excellent casting.
loved them turing the couch around waiting for Vanessa. Also love the episode where Vanessa gets drunk playing the alphabet game. So many great episodes.
She got the Two Episodes mixed up, they did not turn the couch around when Vanessa went to see the Wretched, the episode where they turned the couch around is when Vanessa was out with a Boy and she came home late...

I loved the Cosby Show. As a black woman, I really miss shows like that, they don't exist anymore.
Nowadays, we're (black people) portrayed so negatively and one dimensional.
The Cosby Show, showed another side. It showed the world that we are not all illiterate, uneducated, street talking, buffoons.
Most black shows and movies now are not a complete reflection.
I'm beginning to think that there will never be another show like "The Cosby Show". It's so unfortunate.

armany02 3 years ago 2
I'm not sure I much like her but what she says at the end is so true. People who criticise the Cosby Show because it didn't concentrate on the colour of the actors are completely missing the point. My guess is it did more to enhance the image of black people than any show claiming, claiming, to be about 'real life black experience'. It was also damn funny!

Gorgeous looking gal on the Cosby show and still looks just lovely. wow

This show was and continues to be an anchor in the storm of life. The love and caring sustain!!

(Room 222); Bea Arthur - what can I say (Maude); Bernadette Stanis -fresh face, but they never developed her character, so this one didn't last long (Good Times); Phylicia Rashad (Cosby Show)... memories.

The Cosby Show is one of my all-time favourite comedies during my youth.
Because it made you feel proud to see your brothers and sisters providing that they're somebody and don't have to be somebody else.
Long live, The Cosby Show, 1984-92.

Cosby was one of my favorites too, brothers and sisters extending through culture and color. You don't have to be Caucasian, Afro-American, Hispanic, or Asian to be my brother.

Today is her daughter, Condola Phylea's birthday. She's 22 years old.

She reminds me a lot of her character on the show. She really does have that same soothing speaking manner and classy, elegant persona about her. Haha! I love her. I have always had a crush on her.

Sister Phylicia Rashad is a gifted, beautiful and inspirational woman.
Not only she is Sister Claire Huxable, but a role model to our brothers and sisters.
Lots of love to Sister Phylicia Rashad and Sister Debbie Allen.

man, there will probably never be another show like the cosby show, especially since it was so groundbreaking at the time. but thank goodness for all those nick at night reruns, they had me crackin up just the other night.

Well others like the show so much because they are in a more healthy moral state of mind than you are.
Aphoresis 3 years ago 14
I bet that you, threerandot, are either an Roseanne or Married With Children fan since they are always the main ones hating on The Cosby Show. The CHARACTER(remember, it's just an character) was the most gorgeous mother ever to grace the screen, she was intelligent, loving, and a class act. A first on American T.V.
Splendor1985 3 years ago 5
Clair is just brilliant. No comparison of her acting. She did more than justice to her character. All the very best to her.

Why can't we have more people in this world like Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad?
beatlejuice72 3 years ago 13
We need more women like Ms. Rashad and less like Paris Hilton.
grindcore2theextreme 3 years ago 34
i could not agree more.
easily, Phylicia Rashad could blow Paris Hilton out of the water.
malikscifi92 3 years ago 9
Why would she want to blow Paris Hilton out of the water? She is on a entirely different plane of life than Paris Hilton.

Love Cosby Show and Phylicia Rashad

she is so well spoken and has so much class, she's always impressed me as herself because on the show she was the "pants wearer" in the family and it shows in her real personality because she's always so poised and dignified like a true matriarch would be, excellent work and excellent casting.

loved them turing the couch around waiting for Vanessa. Also love the episode where Vanessa gets drunk playing the alphabet game. So many great episodes.
