  • Frank, when's this going to stop?

  • Comment removed

  • @Robloxpivs Lol

  • The second time I watched it I nearly cried when he said "I'm so sorry."

  • I just realized all the foreshadowing in this scene.

  • Frank whispers to be polite in the the movie theater ...

  • for whom the bell tolls is Metallica.

  • The music is Epic...

  • "What happened to your eye?"

    "I'm so sorry."

  • This scene is so powerful, it overwhelms me hahaha

  • "Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"

  • Have you ever seen a Porno?

  • @deakon452876 you just fucked up that part of the movie for me. but okay it is a good joke

  • This movie is so much scarier than modern horror movies. There is something so sinister and beautiful. Now all we have is fucking "Drag Me to Hell"

  • @MrHowbout '

if you knew much about movies you'd know that japan produce the freakiest/scariest horror movies.

  • @MrHowbout ...... but this *is* a modern horror movie.

  • @MrHowbout Which ironically is directed by Sam Rami, whose debut was "the Evil Dead," the movie Donnie and Frank are watching.

  • This is the best scene from the movie

  • If you ask me what my favorite song from the movie is, it would be the one from this scene. That pick up in the song right after Frank says "you should already know that," I am unable to express the feeling I get. I'm overwhelmed by what feels like such purpose being given to Donnie, making everything else in life seem just so futile.

  • What an incredible scene. It takes my breath away.

  • Frank is the "Manipulated dead" from the future, so when he looks at Gretchen and says he's sorry, he knows what he's going to do, and what Donnie will have to sacrifice (Donnie will have to sacrifice himself to close the tangent universe)

  • U guys are retards it is so stupid and gay

  • @MrHitman9779 You're stupid.

  • @MrHitman9779 U havent even seen the movie have u?

  • Greatest. Movie. Scene. Ever.

And that song... For whom the bell tolls, Steve baker & Carmen daye... Just beautiful.

  • This scene is so black metal

  • My intial thoughts on him saying sorry was that at that point Donnie realised who Frank was. I read somewhere that Frank was boyfriend to or at least a friend of Donnie's sister as in the party scene she asks where Frank is. So I think not only does Donnie realise he shot him but also that he is someone he already knows. When he says "Why do they call you Frank?" I assume its just a nickname because of Franks father, etc so perhaps Donnie never suspected Frank to be his sisters friend/boyfriend.

  • @MegMcMooMin Donnie says 'What happened to your eye' And he says 'I'm so sorry'. Donnie asks a rhetorical question. Meaning he already knew what happened to his eye. Donnie was the one who shot him in the eye after he ran over Gretchen, which is what he's sorry for.

  • Just a premature sorry

  • Who the fuck falls asleep during Evil Dead?

  • Just an epic film!

  • @juanleal1992 Heh heh. same here mate. I tried to get my friend to watch it, lent him the DVD back before Christmas, and he still hasn't put it on. Missing out on a great film. Yep it makes me sad.

  • beautiful.

  • This movie brings me back to the darkest time in my life. I used to have a hallucination named Ben. I had the same fucked up friendship with him as Donnie does with Frank. In the end though, things got out of hand and I lit myself on fire. This movie speaks to me so much. Best movie I have EVER seen.

  • @PTLover647 holy fuck.

  • 3 people have never seen a portal

  • I think James Duval was AMAZING in this.

  • Aaaah I hated this part it freaked me out XD awesome movie

  • Makes me want to cry... so haunting and moving

  • 0:10

    Donnie: Oh hey Frank.

    Frank: Hey.

  • So amazing at 1:45 ish.

  • I love the directors cut version of this, the alienlike sound of franks voice and the burning eye in this scene make it all the better imo, i found this cesspit.net/drupal/node/1708 by far my favorite interpretation of the movie. Lots of spoilers though.

  • I love the directors cut version of this, the alienlike sound of franks voice and the burning eye in this scene make it all the better imo

  • 3 people are clearly stuck in the time paradox...

  • This is one of the most interesting movies of the last ten years.

  • ...burn it to the ground....

  • My sister said this movie is about what would have happened if the plane never killed him. In the end, time is reversed. He's back in his room and he smiles as the plane crashes into the room and kills him. So sad...

  • does he says hes sorry when he asked what happened to his eye?

  • @alexcarney13 Yes, because in the future, Donnie shoots the real Frank in the eye because he runs over Gretchen :P

  • @alexcarney13 no Frank says that because he is sorry for what Donnie is going through

  • @gordo1031 SPOILER ALERT Frank says sorry because he is the one who killed his girlfriend which led to donnie shooting him

  • chills

    chills

    so many chills

  • freaky scene

  • no właśnie, dlaczego nosisz ten głupi ludzki strój ..?

  • most amazing scene in the history of anything

  • i finally understand this scene

    it's great!!!!!

donnie shot frank in the eye because he ran over gretchen.

it took me like 12 times seeing the movie to patch everything together.

  • @pkgrip lol?

  • @pkgrip O.O 12 times are you serious?

  • that mask is the single only image that can scare me. so frightening and bone chilling.

  • Until this scene, Frank is suspect at best, if not a sure enemy. Now it becomes apparent that he is not. This scene is incredible, the score is amazing.

  • I practically cried when I saw this scene for the first time. Not because I was scared or anything like that, it was just so perfect, so beautiful.

  • @yellowduckie123 same, something about it just grabs your emotions. beyond words

  • _____Evil thought, I think Donnie Darko is stuck in that time-loop forever--always having to go through the same pain and suffering. Follow my thinking for a minute, even if I know most everybody is gonna disagree with me forever about it. "What happened to your eye?" he asks, clearly upset. It's as if Donnie already knows what happened to Frank's eye. Otherwise, he wouldn't be so shaken up. That, and because he has time-travel abilities, that loop of time will always mean his death.

  • what did happen to his eye? i forget.

  • @4evercombinekiller donnie shot him after he ran over gretchen in his car

  • yeah this is a fucked up movie....

  • This is perhaps the creepiest scene in film history!

  • This scene is better in the Directors cut, the bunny mans voice is deeper and creepier. :D

  • One of the best scenes of all time history

  • Why is Frank a woman here?

  • 1:02 "What happened to your eye?"

You know damn straight what happened to his eye.....

  • @Dresden1065 what did happen to his eye?

  • @IbanezMS1995 later in the movie after frank runs over his gf donnie shoots him in the eye

  • Frank, when's this gonna stop?

  • This movie is amazing to say the least. This scene is so haunting. I watched this movie for the first time last week, and have watched it twice since then. Jake Gyllenhaal's acting ability is amazing also. One of the best movies I have ever seen. I wish I could take my thoughts and interpret them on screen like this scene does, it is just like a dream.

  • so are these actually time portals or is donnie just schizophrenic.

  • @mwells219

That's the question. It's never answered.

  • @Chromevod to your response to mwells219. It actually is answered. watch the directors cut. This movie is about time travel.

  • @bigpapae21 yeah its about time travel but if u look deeper into the movie u will notice a LOT of sybolism for religion and society. The number eight appears alot in the movie too, just look really close and past the literal what not and find the TRUE message behind it. 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, 12 seconds...28+6+42+12=88 :)

  • @gordo1031 And what does the number 8 symbolize?

  • i've watched donnie darko dozens of times, and this scene still sends chills down my spine.

  • "why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit?"

"why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"

    "take it off."

    "What happened to your eye?"

    "I'm so sorry."

Great scene, i only wish frank didn't kill gretchen

  • this movie and this song is so amazing, like this scene alone could deserve an oscar or academy award, frank the bunny is griddy and mysterious, an exct equivalent to the easter bunny, but the part of the film that made me puzzled is how donnie ges back in time i really dont understand that concept

  • This scene is simply beutifull....

  • This film is pure genius

A masterpiece, and a very powerful movie

It's a brilliant movie for its year, and as the years go by, it remains a brilliant movie and to me, is one of a kind

  • the first time i saw this moovie... it was a summer evening.... had all the windows open in the living room and it was dark outside but the horizon was a dark blue... perfect atmosphere to watch a great movie

  • Gives me chills every time. A "Movie Bonner."

  • your just too stupid to understand it

  • why does he want donnie to burn the house, i forget i havent seen this movie in a while

  • In order to fix the universe, Donnie has to do some things. Frank (the rabbit) is just guiding him through the steps.

  • so how would burning a house fix the universe...i undertood that part, i want to know the specifics, on why

  • It's just part of his mission. It triggers a chain of reaction (discovery of Jim's pedo stuff, death of Donnie's girlfriend, sister and mother...).

One of the movie's interpretation is that Donnie is supposed to die from the beginning in order to prevent this from happening.

This movie brings a lot of questions and that's why I love it. You're never tired to watch it because you get a different interpretation every time you do. :)

  • Yea... Specifically, the discovery of the kiddie porn dungeon causes that one bitch to go to a thing that claims its all a conspiracy. Which meant Donnie's mom would have to take S. Darko and all the other girls to the Sparkle Motion thing. And then Donnie and his other sister throw the Halloween party at their house...And so on...

  • "why are do you wear that stupid bunny suit?"

"why are you wearing thst stupid man suit?"

i wish frank never took the suit off, its more creepy to just have that iconic bunny smile as franks face. still a great movie.

    "BURN IT TO THE GROUND"

  • pretty cool that this scene foreshadows [or backshadows?] what's going to happen/what's already happened.

you have gretchen asleep- "dead" between frank and donnie, and frank with his eye shot.

    good music too.

  • Why does Frank apologise?

  • Because Frank is from the future, and he is aware that he kills Gretchen.

  • stabbing in the mirror was a reverance to the future, this Frank is from the future so he already got shot.

  • can anyone tell me if it was signifigent when donnie was stabbing him in the mirror?

  • if you look closely, donnie is stabbing frank's eye, the same eye he had been shot : ) good stuff

  • I can't see it.

  • is his eye bleeding from where he shot him or from where he stabbed him in the bathroom ????

  • when he got shot

  • @n8isw8is

    how do you know?

donnie laughs when he asks what happens to his eye.. because he knows he did it to him.. in the bathroom stabbing... right?

  • recieving the artifact is completed... in order to become a manipulated dead said person(s) must be killed in process of the tangent univirse etc. etc. this would be were donnie shoots frank.. now i could be wrong but im ASSUMING that the wound is shown symoblically and as a foreshadow in the plot

  • it's not laughter

  • Well, not really. Donnie faintly remembers shooting Frank the previous time he did it. All th events in the movie have already happened before. "Donnie Darko" takes place in a time loop, think "groundhog Day" where the main character is only minorly aware he's lived through this before.

  • god damn now i want to watch the movie again.. kicked so much ass

  • i saw this movie on like showtime lastyear, and it didn't really strike me at that time how F^#%IN DOPE this movie is. Then i watched it a 2nd time this halloween and realized its 100% the best weird movie ever made. there is none other like it, nor will there ever be.

  • Watch "The Seventh Seal" :)

  • the black and white movie seventh seal??

  • Hey, thanks for listing the name of the song and composer lol found it on myspace.

  • No prob!

  • Yes, this is definitely the most important scene in the movie. I wish this song was on the soundtrack so I could fall asleep to it. I play this scene over and over again just to hear the music lol hauntingly beautiful!

  • im gonna wear a stupid man suit for halloween.

  • My favorite scene from the whole film! Simply amazing and epic in every way!!!! <3

  • The music is so haunting. Richard Kelly put together this scene in such a way that its simply amazing. I mean, when I saw this scene for the first time, I couldn't help but marvel at how close it was to some of the dreams and vague thoughts that I have had in my life. I mean, the giant bunny, the portal and the cinema theatre, the whole lot just make this scene seem like it just came out of a surreal imagination. Its hard to describe in words how awesome the scene is.

  • @toseeornot2see could not have said it better myself

  • I dont kow why always when i see Donnie Darko it reminds me of Johnny C.. from Johnny The Homicidal Maniac...

    i dont know...

  • I LOVE that Movie.

  • What did Donnie say or ask at 1:20? Didn´t understand it.

  • He asked 'Why'd they call you Frank?'.

  • Well obviously he must be confused. There's a giant demonic looking bunny man talking to him and for some reason his name is Frank. I would ask, though maybe I would start with, "What the heck are you?".

  • Arnold Swarzenegger is a real person. We're talking about an imaginary giant bunny rabbit here. Of course he's gonna ask something like: "Why do they call you Frank and not Stamper?".

  • i think he says:

    Why they call you Frank?

  • Absolutely Brilliant film. Although the first time i watched it i didn't really like it, the second time I loved it

  • Yeah many people including me think it´s weird and don´t understand it completely the first time they watch it.

  • I relate more to Donnie than any other character in the entirety of fiction.

  • I was young when this movie came out and had no idea what it was about. I was scared of frank and wouldn't watch it for years until 2 years ago. Best movie I've ever seen. 11/10

  • one of the most mesmerizing scenes i have ever seen. i was totally stunned when i saw it the first time, and i dont even know why.

  • Without a doubt, the BEST part of the movie. I don't know what makes it so good but it's just awesome!

  • it's gotta be the music.

  • that's what I'm thinking.

  • The creepy soundtrack. The dark atmosphere. Seeing Frank's face for the first time. Not to mention; the fact that Donnie finally aknowledges the seriousness of the situation in this scene.

  • Why does Frank say I'm so sorry? i mean should't donnie say sorry to him for hurting his eye?

  • Later in the film Frank kills Donnie's girlfriend by accidently driving over her with his car. That's why he's pre-apologizing in this scene.

  • does frank have that an eye like that were donnie shot him later on in the film?

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah, he basically traveled back in time.

  • @LightStijn or POST-apologizing (because of the whole time-travel aspect)

    -)

seriously, i don't think ANY other movie has ever confused me or made me think more than this film

  • @LightStijn thx, didn't made the link untill now ! :)

  • This is the best movie..ever.

  • 1:35-1:47 best line in the whole movie.

  • dat nigga frank got shot in the eye by Donnie xD. Spoiled pl0x

  • The best part

  • "You should already know that."

  • ha ha 2.06 'have you ever seen a porno" yes i know its portal.

  • I prefer the Director's Cut. Moments like these are improved (if that's possible).

  • why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

  • why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

  • haha i would watch this film every day when i was younger, but havnt seen it in years. but im gonna watch it right now.

  • love it.

freaks me out, but love it.

  • Such a beautiful scene. I love it. If I had to choose one to show anyone what I like about this movie, it would propably be this.

  • its a man named Frank u herbs

  • It's not a woman, it's a man.

  • ROLF he though the bunny was a girl XD

  • 2:03 i thought he said, "have you ever seen a porno?" lololol

  • Lol!!

  • that's what i thought he said too

  • ROLFFFF never though about that XD

  • it's 'ROFL' you fucking idiot ass blind tool

  • calm down criss de raté

  • nah man he is rolling on the laughing floor

  • haha

    damn, that's gotta hurt O_o

  • - Why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit?

    - Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

  • what was the point of frank saving donnie if donnie would ultimatley die anyways?

  • Because Donnie made the choice to stay in bed and die. Frank just made is possible for him to have the choice.

  • Best scene!! i love it so much!!

  • Word!

  • burn it to the ground...

  • the movie that there watching is evil dead. an awesome fantastic movie
