I wish I could have seen Dimmu live during this time. Don't bother watching them now because Shagrath has turned into Dani Filth and everyone is gone. LOL
ive only ever seen Dimmu Borgir in concert 1 time and they were an opening band for Danzig in 2008 it was one of the best concerts ive gone to it was first concerts ive ever went to also
how about you all quit bickering about dumb shit and think with the minds that you have!!! read the damn translations! if ANYONE has any DEBATE that this is anything but pure satanism PLEASE ID LOVE TO HEAR IT!!! I used to love this album but now reading translations and using common sense I can no longer abide nor support this band. trash me if u will, i am an honest true metal head through and through but cannot in good morality condone satanism. if anyone thinks its not please debate it to me
@Patt369 In black metal satanism is used a symbol of rebellion and hate towards religions and greed that oppressed people throughout the life and still hides behind the mask of justice and purity, while making good money out of it. While pope sits in his golden throne, children all over the world suffer from hunger and diseases. Yes, there are bands that actually do worship Satan as a living being but they are just as blind a those who worship God.
This is hilariously pathetic. What has mankind turned into? This is the biggest shitshow I've seen in a while. Idk if the lead singer is trying to start a fashion statement, or his nuts are clamped together, making him scream like a cat getting raped by a gorilla. The real winners are the security guards at these events. I hope they are getting paid a pretty penny, after dealing with this shit. This might even be worse then the juggalo concerts...well idk thats a tough call.
@dt089 Then why the hell did you come here. Takes a strong ear to withstand music like this and actually acquire taste for it, which you obviously has ears too weak to. Come back when you do. Until then, your opinion has automatically now become irrelevant. This is black metal, it's a sub-genre that Thrash helped spawn, so get used to it because this shit is very popular, especially in Europe.
@dsb345 True black metal will never go mainstream. It will remain in the underground for only a handful of people to enjoy. Dont get me wrong, Dimmu is great, but they have strayed so far from real black metal.
@Ghostblood1334 You're right, but nobody ever said Black Metal had to always be the same. Others, maybe yourself too, seem to like what's just simply, an older style of Black Metal. Originally it was very lo-fi production quality, but that's back then, and this is now. Things shouldn't always stay the same. Disco died because it never changed, you know, but that's just an example.
@Ghostblood1334 I always thought Dimmu Borgir were very different, in fact like rebels if you will because they reject you, and all of us, and choose their own path and not totally care what the fans want. I see them creating something they like, and if nobody likes it, oh well. Lo-fi Black Metal though, it lacks too much, and things are just too simple, and I'm a guy who tries to get alot out of small things too.
@dt089 trololol bro your favorites show a bunch of nigger rap.. your opinion is invalid here.. so go back to listening to your shitty music mmkay pumpkin?
@dt089 God damn if i ever see you I will make you swallow your teeth. You are the stupidest mother fucker on this side of youtube. If youre too much of a pussy to withstand this, get back on your mattress and try not to hurt yourself.
And, I know older Black Metal isn't the best and I'd agree, but there are a few songs I like alot. Graveworms By The Grace of God, Vaakevandrings Some Day, and a couple more lean towards the original sound of symphonic black metal, but By The Grace of god is actually based on a real event I believe, possibly about the spanish inquisitions or w.e of the New World, per say against the Mayans, they didnt convert and were thought to worship devils, thus got persecuted, then wiped out.
A really rough and extremely deep song like that shouldn't be listened to all the time, cus eventually it gets to you, that's why I consider Dimmu Borgir not just a good Symphonic Metal band, but one of the best Heavy Metal bands ever created.
Just look at Mourning Palace. That song struck me deep cus it describes what hell is like, there is no place for people to enjoy, it IS a place where the soul gets tortured, and that's all there is forever. Souls who once had the chance to redeem theirself to god, but didnt, and are paying the ultimate price, and cannot find light or peace. All thats left is for satan to bless their sins, since god isn't around to forgive them for them. The breakdown in the song was what got me there.
That's why Shagrath said "We never go out on stage drunk, we NEVER drink before a show, only at the local bars maybe after the show or in the bus". I admire how responsible Shagrath is being for Dimmu Borgir, and apart of that comes with their age and experience. I hate seeing them go, but if its all true, I'd rather see the band sucessfull rather than break apart. Note.. Vortex is one hell of a party machine.
@dsb345 Yeah I agree with you there, and I do respect Shagrath more for that, because I mean he is trying to be professional for the fans and everything which is really awesome.
@DemonizedAlucard Yawp. These guys dont do those stupid fking church burnings either or tell people to worship the devil, it's simply lyrics that even the devil would say, that's why some people think it's scary, almost to go as far as to say people worship satan JUST by listening to this, which I say is wrong. I'm litteral about this, and unless I'm rocking pentagrams and reversed crosses all the time, then no I'm not. If anything, it's almost educational for a christian lmao.
@DemonizedAlucard but yes, agressive forms of music shouldn't be listened to all the time, it even gets to me. That's why I listen to rock alot too, like older stuff like Guns N Roses or ZZ Top, you know the really old stuff, just feels good to relax to other music once in a while. Music at least in a small way can help dictate your mood, thts why I say, so it's good to listen in moderation.
Those are the words of Shagrath commenting vaguely on what happend with Vortex and Mustis. Vortex sounds like a free spirit though, and I admire that alot, but at the same time he should have taken things a little more seriously. Still, they could REALLY do good for themselves by bringing that back at least temporarily for the next lineup, since shaggy says having the same lineup isn too hectic sometimes.
But if you notice closely, i think the reason he's screaming "come on" is because the crowd isnt headbanging, not many horns, NO mosh pit at all.. I felt bad for dimmu when I watched this, but performance is great.
I'm looking foward to that alot, I LOVE their live performances over alot of their album music, so I may have to try and get that since they can add little touches to the song on the fly like in Ozzfests Kings of Carnival performance where shaggy goes "aye.. aye.. aye.. COME ON!!!", I fucking love how brutal that was. I dont see other bands doing this, Dimmu executes things almost "perfectly" to me, thats why im having trouble finding bands that compare.
He said: Seems a long time out of the stores, but worry not. “We’re still working on the DVD for the orchestra show we did in Oslo. It’s pretty much done, we just need to figure out the contractual bit. Once that’s done, the fans will have something out. It looks awesome! We re-edited it and re-mixed it since the TV broadcast, so whoever thinks they have the full DVD from YouTube will have to think again (laughs). There’s lots of bonus stuff on there as well. It’s worth waiting for.”
Yeah.. I noticed the crowd wasn't really thrilled to have Dimmu Borgir on stage. Sure it's Satanic to their own extent, but nevertheless it's still Metal, which I love alot, and if my hair was longer, and I was there, I'd be headbanging and hairspinning my head off untill they're off stage lol. It's brutal, it's loud, it's fast paced, but has it's moments of short beautiful scores of orchestrated sounds that just make it sound even better. Beauty in brutality, that's what I call it.
@danluckner Yeah, but I need to quit listening to it for a bit. Music like this, along with rap needs to be respected and listened to in moderation. The only issue at all I have with Dimmu Borgir is the Satanic thing, but that's fine. I wonder if there's something completely oppisite that'd be called White Metal? Maybe it involves an extremely wrathfull God burning sinners or something and nowhere less brutal than Black Metal lol. Ohhman those two genres if it existed would be totally at war
@DemonizedAlucard Yah, I don't really like rap anymore, I just use it to test speakers. It is still violent though, here in USA it incites violence which is fucking stupid, that's one major reason I stopped. I guess Un-Black Metal is real genre then? I guess I should go check it out or something, but not cus I'm religious or anything, just don't wanna get bashed for supposedly believing in a God that may or may not even exist, oh well.
@dsb345 I really think it is stupid for anyone to bash another persons beliefs lol, personally i don't believe in nothing but everyone is different, and yes Un Black Metal is a real genre instead of singing about what Black Metal is usually comprised of, they sing about religion and what not, personally I do not like it, because there are few bands out, and i just do not think they are any good.
@DemonizedAlucard Yeah I hear you, I was recetnly searching it after you mentioned it, there was a Norwegian symphnic unblack metal band, cant remmeber the name, but one of their songs was pretty good imo. I just thought my god.. Dimmu is so amazing, isn't there a band with the same sound and execution but, in a way completely oppisite? I'd love it. One reason I like dimmu is.. If satan did exist, what would he say? It's one reason I love Dimmu Borgir alot.

@dsb345 I like their earlier stuff best by far, but I don't think the new album is as bad as everyone gives it so much hate for lol, I find a few songs on there fun to listen to
@DemonizedAlucard Well, older Black Metal imo is a little stale.. It just lacks is all, it just does, not that im hating on it. Dimmu today is more dynamic, just as symphonic, but things are clearer, faster, and harder. I say the pinnacle of it all was ISD, but kinda dropped from there. Their older stuff is.. okay, like the album Mourning Palace is off of, listened to a few songs it was pretty good. Go back further is kinda going back too far, they were too new and stale for me, but still fine
@dsb345 Yeah I can understand what you mean man, I recommend you checking out Behemoth if you haven't done so yet, or Immortal. I really love both of those bands.
@DemonizedAlucard And I can tell what you mean. I think they lakced a little in that album because.. of age. Silenoz even said he doesn't like being under the Black Metal label, but said he guessed that just comes from being older, and they just wanted to make music. They said they were gonna probably bring bakc a few old line-up members, HOPEFULLY VORTEX AND MUSTIS, for a celebratory 20th aniversary album, or simply their next which is due in 2012-13.

@DemonizedAlucard AND: number two, a less obvious one and can easily be forgotten while under the influence but still: Don’t hurt yourself in an alcoholic rage smashing a glass to your forehead putting yourself, your band ‘mates,’ crew, not to mention the show(s), in jeopardy.
this is why we americans never see these bands play in out country . it's cause of us. we suck as a crowed. they kicked so much ass and we didn't do shit. but standt here.
ozzfest 04 best and first show i ever saw. The original Black sabbath Slayer Dimmu borgir Super joint ritual on main stage. Lamb of god devildriver black dahlia murder on second stage. Fuck. Ozz fest will ne
sorry ad english I didn`t understand much but I understand the part "no one on earth deserves to be put through a dimmu borgir live show." well if Dimmu have fun with the crowd what is the problem they felt very good in Kavarna,Bulgaria
@ZaarBloodletter666 DId u just say you can't find talent at all in pop/rap??? i think you're wrong because every music requires talent and pop & rap are part of it. To rap, you need to write good lyrics that rhytmically flow with the beat and make up some good rhymes etc. And people who are not talented in singing aren't able to sing any pop music. Yeah I respect that you like rock music but you shouldn't disrespect the other arts.
I hate it how those fuckin dorks at Ozzfest in the back just sit there like "duhh where's Limp Bizkit" it's a real metal band throw your fucking hands up!
@AppalachianKnight77 Yo I think sameway like ya. But thats allways what happen in the festivals. Its fucking anoying. And oh my if some fucking shit band is after Dimmu. Shit bands fans are in the front row ruining my gig. Once I got trhowed out form festivals becouse we went and started pitting at some pop artists gig :DDDD It was epic
@BruLitusFogo You obvious have no real idea on black metal, and I don't see how in anyway the war paint makes it gay. It gives them a more evil look. If you hate it that's ok but fuck off if you do.

And grow on a cursed earth
A smart family or somthing like that. lol. Norwegian can be a complicated language though...

@ZaarBloodletter666 haha so very true
smashinglollipops 5 months ago
@ZaarBloodletter666 DId u just say you can't find talent at all in pop/rap??? i think you're wrong because every music requires talent and pop & rap are part of it. To rap, you need to write good lyrics that rhytmically flow with the beat and make up some good rhymes etc. And people who are not talented in singing aren't able to sing any pop music. Yeah I respect that you like rock music but you shouldn't disrespect the other arts.

@BruLitusFogo You obvious have no real idea on black metal, and I don't see how in anyway the war paint makes it gay. It gives them a more evil look. If you hate it that's ok but fuck off if you do.
