  • So this is how sites are ranked. Now I know.

  • thanks for the video

  • I use site: a lot daily and find it a quick way to identify errors. You can quickly perform a check of the Page Title syntax being used and the URL structure in place.

I also find that when I perform a site: search on a domain and the homepage isn't the first result, it's a signal that there is a problem in some way with the homepage. Generally this is due to an inability to crawl the page, low content or suspect links.

  • Info

  • It really help. I have more understanding. Thank you.

  • Thanks Gianluca

  • Makes sense. Good question and a great answer Matt. A quick question - What role does age of the page play versus freshness of the page in this particular query?

  • @simarprit Good question. But even i wonder what could be the answer.

  • Do you really mean short paths ("short URIs close to the root")? Isn't number of hops (links) from from the root (or most visited entry point) way more significant?

  • I've never even thought of that before since I rarely use that function, but good to know anyways. Keep the viceos coming! =)
