Are you kidding me? The brutes were so much harder in Halo 2. In halo 3 they made the brutes more like elites, but slower, dummer, and far weaker. In halo 2 I had trouble beating brutes on heroic (some of it to blame was Halo 2's shitty glitches because bungie rushed it)
I can beat halo 3 brutes on legendary no problem (plasma pistol+battle rifle) and they make it all the more easy because the brutes don't dodge as fast or as often as the elites.
i love the elites if there was a side to choose from i be like LOOK MAN ELITES HANDS DOWN and to the Brutes are just apes that just likes torturing and they have no mind at all now in halo 3 there were smarter but still i choose the elites

on legendary, Elites are way better than brutes. reason #1. elite shields take a while to take down on Legendary; reason #2. Brutes have no shields, you can headshot (one-hit kill); reason #3. if you have sputnik skull effect, a berserking brute sends you flying, by the time you come down your shields have already regenerated
