  • You fall in, you don't come out...

  • Upon seeing this, I wonder more about the math behind it than the bad assery of it for some reason.

  • @Albyint The "math" behind it...

  • @CAPTIANJACKSBLOG How uncreative.

  • @HSSDamian it was actully meant to correct the person who said it said it wrong

  • I have been there earlier this summer, to actually be there, is totaly different! .__.

  • Not that I wanna try... But I wonder what happen if I jump in that

  • @EekWe I see three possible scenarios:

    1: You drown.

2: You smash into the cliffs and drown.

3: A whale that got lost comes and eat you, slowly digesting you to whale-crap.

  • Yay! Take that George! Whirlpools DO exist!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I NOW HAVE WON FIVE DOLLARS!!!!!!1

  • I'd hate to be canoeing in that...

  • that might be the strongest, but not the bigest. the old sow is the biggest. its diameter can get up to 140 feet. and thats just the eye\mouth\ open part.

  • @traurigaberwahr100 Not really. A simple google search would show dozens of sources saying that the old sow is the biggest only in the western hemisphere, and that the norway whirlpool is the largest.

  • How is the water so blue o_o

  • This is sharply the SCILLA monster singed by Homerus in Odissey!:

"...with half of himself in the hole

deep cavern it dives in, and out

    moves its head, watching around

wether fishing dolphins, wolves or anyone

    of other monstres...

    ...not ever sailors trespassed saved

cause as many mouths it opens

    as many men it swallows..."

  • the water in the middle looks like it is covered by sticky goo or tar... and felt like i could stand on it!!

  • i like how its only protected by a one chain fence with a big space that kids can crawl through.

  • good job Michael Jackson isn't still alive else that baby would be dangling over it

  • Wouldn't you just love to see like a dolphin or a really big fish like a tuna try to swim upstream to that?

  • that looks awesomely weird

  • Thats right. Hold on to the baby.

  • IMPRESIONANTE!

    +

  • Where is this exactly? I can't find that bridge on g.maps. I will go through Bodo, and wouldn't miss this!

  • @Pali1984

    It's ok, I found it!

  • So what happens if you do get caught in it? Maybe with diver's gear on?

  • Don't wait up mother, me and the kayak will be late....as in the late dent Arthur dent....

  • det e jo noen persona som har blitt tatt i de malstrømman der men de har jo overlevd da : ) de fleste ;)

  • ive been there :D

  • Looks like the Talbot Bay in Australia. Only wider.

  • Would a whirlpool actually pull a swimmer down or would it just spin them around endlessly?

  • @thegreatchimp It would pull you down. so i wouldn't jump in if i was you

  • @UnknownGuitarist1993 I don't plan on it. I nearly drowned in a 3 foot high waterfall :)

  • @thegreatchimp What can i say, water is dangerous no matter what you do :-P

  • i swam in that

  • guy 1 ok you gonna jump ?

guy 2 i reckon ur pulling my leg you wont jump with me

guy1 lets jump together on 3

    both 1... 2...3

    guy 2 ha ha sucker

  • NATURE U SCARY!

  • @iSewil It's not scary...I live there!

  • Let's throw Justin Bieber in and see what happens

  • @robertlamb178 He dies. Just some days ago a man fall into this water and died.

  • @robertlamb178 best idea EVER

  • @robertlamb178 he stream would probably choke on him and spit him out.

  • Let's go surfing. :)

  • nature = badass and awesome!

  • cool!

  • This is what happens when unnatural rock beds are added to a strong tidal current and the chief engineer is on a lunch break when they start building....

  • I don't understand :/ isn't it supposed to like _whirl_? this more looks like it's just a fast flow. I'd like to see some object thrown in there.

  • @Dragongo lol...someone saw pirates of the caribbean 3 and wanted to see a real one...

  • Damn...its beautifull...

  • I live here!

  • Would be fun to go tubing in that

  • thaths how it looks like in Chuck norris pool , lol :D

  • Michael Phelps comes here to have a nice, slow, relaxing swim.

  • @impiccolomofo and a bong!!

  • you spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round round round

  • In 2009, a man in boat was close to be swallowedby a giant one. While he was about to cross this point, he lost power in the engine. He was then left to his of stroke of luck, while a giant whirlpool took him and the little boat on a tour inside the spinning bowl like a rag doll. Completly helpless.

Luckly, there was a caffe nearby which called for help. A much larger boat got him out of it before he was heading righ back for a second time.

So... Don't try it at home kids.

  • 0:31 - 0:34

Look on the right side of the screen. Man, it reminds me of those horror movies from Japan. Any ideas?

  • this is not a fake ?

  • @Tomayonnaise Of course not. I have even visited that place in real life.

  • I'm a strong swimmer but nobody's gonna convince me to go into that thing.

  • looks like fun :D *jumps*

  • Nice vid bro, very cool

  • Seriously Scary.... WHAT is that Siamese Cat looking at, leaning over at :33? That's one scared cat I'll bet.

  • @SaskBirdies HAHA that cat!!

  • I went there as a little kid, too bad I wasn't old enough to appreciate it

  • been there with boat :)

  • That might be a very interesting location te place a water turbine!

  • Really cool video Mr. and Ms. Xinanorway

  • looks like suitable drinking water

  • great source of sustainable energy

  • @clayguy33

    Now that's a great idea!

  • give me a pair of flippers and goggels and i will out swim that shit in no time

  • wasnt this in a book that i read?

  • @neeshover 20,000 leagues under the sea... Captain Nemo allowz teh submarine to travel here. No ship at teh time of teh book'z publication had ever survived it.

  • tht lks scary lol. i bet no one is stupid enuf to swim there

  • @buckweed226 actually a man has, and he came out alive. (i live close by) anyways it was on national tv

  • what if they just used a raft..?

  • love the "safety fence"

  • @svgrobski 4 real where is the safety in taht fence

  • I'd fucking own that maelstrom, i'd swim in the opposite direction and it would just stop.

  • @Tehgrimreaper hahahah only Chuck Norris can do that, but he only needs to put his hand into the water and it would stop.

  • I live in Bodø, and once when I was a kid me and my grandfather went into Saltstraumen with his old wooden "sjark" (a type of fishing boat common around northern Norway. You can only pass through about two hours after high and low tide.), and that was the scariest thing I've ever been part of. Never ever again!

  • i know this sounds stupid but i seriously want to take a kayak to that

  • @awesomeemily1 No, believe me, you don't want to take a kayak to that.:p

  • i would like to swimm there

  • I want to watch a picture when the sea is stormy

  • What would happen if you jumped in?

  • depends on which time of the day you're there.. when it's on the strongets you'd probably get sucked under water, smashed against the ground and dragged out to sea.. where you'd drown, if you didn't already die when you got smashed xD

  • @MaliciousMalice You would die.

  • The poor fish must be all dizzy.

  • usually these are caused by large rocks inside a powerfull current

  • @pyroxis it's caused because so much water are travelling through such little space at the same time! it's at it's strongest every 6th hour

  • @pyroxis it's caused because so much water are travelling through such little space at the same time! it's at it's strongest every 6th hour

  • @pyroxis it's caused because so much water are travelling through such little space at the same time! it's at it's strongest every 6th hour

  • @goodcommentguy how do you know? might be really really really really fun.

  • woooooooow asi m staba imaginando el remolino de moskoestróm mientras leia "un descenso al maelstrom" - de Poe, asombro y temor,

  • i live there!

  • Now I see...I couldn't exactly imagine that by reading Edgar Allan Poe's story...

  • @napster couldn't really help but at least say something. A fire sparked in me and my heart is beating exessivly right now cuz I just want to yell at you. But Ill just leave it at this. G'day mate.

  • Go hump a sheep.

    Mate.

  • I come and live in the capital of Norway Oslo

  • Isn't it suppose to be some kinda whirlpool or something?

  • @Koroush51 you`re right. But this fotage is not taken when it`s at its strongest.

  • Although it is a different situation, the Pororoca is much more violent and raw....

  • Im half norweigen!! I want to go to norway 1 day.

  • Ok. I'll tell you where Saltstraumen is.

It maybe 5 minutes out of Bodø, but it's still in Bodø kommune.

Under the bridge. Theres a track with alot of grass and Mud.

Sometimes if you'r lucky, you may see some Boats thats goes right throug it! It's really Fabilus

  • What a beautiful land! And such terrifying waters... !!!

  • sweet, i wanna swim there..lol

  • that's kinda like the whirlpools at Stuart Island British Colombia Canada, some one fell overboard on a boat and died last week. biggest whirlpools I've ever seen . but this video is definitely the most current Ive ever seen.
