The interesting thing about this cantata is that its a blend of European music with Chinese influences. I think the fact that people consider this to be "authentic" Chinese music speaks volumes to the success of the "New Music" movement of composers like Xian Xinghai, Nie Er, and He Luting, to Sinicize Western Classical Music.
This is an absolutely superb performance of a masterpiece and is so beautiful, these melodies just keep swirling in my mind. I cannot say enough. The orchestra, the chorus, the soloists, I mean I wish this whole group would come to the United States to perform this in the New Jersey, New York area. Chinese music culture is amazing. So is Lang Lang in the piano concerto and his mastery. Thanks one an all.This is not knew to me but It is worth repeating and telling others to watch

The composer is Xian Xinghai, born Macau 1905. This is a MUCH better performance than the recording on naxos. Thank you !
