  • I love this song :)

Can't believe it's been over 2 years since you uploaded it. It definitely deserves more views.

    The lyrics are amazing!

  • Whoever disliked this, seriously has some issues. :)

Mrs. Harvey, err, Leesha, I guess I can say here, used to be the pianist at my school. :D

  • I love this song , so cute

  • this really makes me think.. no matter how nice ur car is or ur house is u can still be miserable i guess that quote ' love cant buy happiness ' is true

  • This is one talented lady! BRAVO Leesha.

An insightful song.. sad, but more true than we'd care to believe, for most people who show us the PUBLIC face and live a different life. Tiger Woods comes to mind, right away..

    Merry Christmas!

  • cute! my baby bro loves this!

  • Love the kitchen floor! Fun stuff.

  • So heavy and so cute all at the same time! Has somebody been watching PBS with the kids and listening to the Beatles or is it just me? ;D

  • Ha! Such a great comment. As a matter of fact, I *have* been watching PBS with the kids and listening to the Beatles! Does it show that much? :-)

  • yes, my daughter loves Callou and Curious George and I'm into Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road

  • Very Clever Songwriting.

  • Well done! I enjoy the insight and the depth in your lyrics. The whimsical style of the video contrasts well with the weight of the story.

  • OK,when does this play on a doctor Phil show ? I wanta tape that show !!!! This Good looking girl is BRILLIANT.The crystal clear lyrics AMAZING. It reminds me of my life from 1959 to 1979.Almost scary enough to make me want to sue for COPY WRITE INFRINDGEMENT :0)....... I would definetly say FOLK SONGS ARE YOU FOR-TAY.

  • BRAVO !

  • Completely delightful! The counterpoint of the happy, child-like cardboard creations to the bitter content of the lyrics works very well. "The youngest one spoke like a prophet"... great writing, as usual. A very slick, professional production with a sadly familiar message told freshly anew.

    Great! ~Jon

  • i could watch this all day!

  • Watched S Carolina Governor's news conference this afternoon, explaining his weekend/Father's Day absence, his lies to staff about being off hiking the Appalachia Trail, his affair in Argentina, etc...

This song should've scored his statement. In that regard, you're the one who 'spoke like a prophet' with this song. I think you should post it as a Video Response to a popular vid of that news conference, but then, I can be a bit of a provocatuer politically.

  • Leesha, love the idea of putting this video and song together to illustrate the story. I always tell the artists at work when making a pitch that all I can draw are stick people and now you have managed to make that look creative. I guess there may be hope for me yet? ;-)

  • Stick people are about all I can draw as well! I'm really not that great at visual art, but it's fun! I spent a lot of time painting all of this stuff, and thankfully, the pack came with like 50 people, so I had plenty of extras as back-up.

  • Wow! Magnificent!

  • oh, and I really like the fish in the bar! it almost looks like a Master Angler Crappie, if I'm not mistaken!

  • Why yes, yes it is. You'll never guess where I acquired it...

  • when is the clay-mation vid coming out? and have you thought about a career in house painting? ;) heh! awesome song!

  • Awesome!

  • great song. very cute.

  • Wow man. You know, I subscribed to you a while back cuz I saw your cover of Metallica's 'The Day That Never Comes' and I really liked it, but I didn't realize until now that you were so much more than just someone who posts covers on Youtube.

This song rocks, the video rocks, and all your other videos rock. I'm a total fan now :)

  • Thank you very much, mrkrono!

  • This has actually been stuck in my head all day, fantastic. Such whimsy in the melody and delivery, but man oh man..tough subject matter.

  • Thanks, julianaeveryday! Yep, it's pretty hefty subject matter to have floating around in your head! :-)

  • Seems like I love it too :D Nice work Leesha : )

  • This song is really very sad. It is amazing though and what talent you have. What writing skills as well as singing. I don't know you but I know you are going to go far and GOD will use you for HIS glory. Blessings.

  • Thank you, cathyjreynolds! I put the songs out there and hope God uses them however He will. :-)

  • I like your music and your singer song writer talent but that one really sucked nuh uh folky country which if you play backwards you get your wife back your house , truck , dog etc ...just doesn't cut it for good music . What a depressing song .

  • Everyone has their preferences as far as song topics-- I totally understand. But with this song, I was hoping to have a different take on all those country songs about "breaking up." Those songs seem to say that breaking up is inevitable because one "isn't in love" or doesn't feel that "spark" anymore. I was trying to show that love and commitment, while difficult, is a choice, not a feeling. Yep, it's a depressing song, and it's OK if you don't like it. :-) Thanks for watching.

  • The greatest hazard of all, losing one's self, can occur very quielty in the world, as if it were nothing at all. No other loss can occur so quielty; any other loss - an arm, a leg, five dollars, a wife, etc., - is sure to be noticed.

    -- Soren Kierkegaard

THAT's what this song gets at, if you ask me -- the 'loss of self' suffered due to ;livingin a state of prepetual hypocrisy and denial. I think it's a far cut above the standard country lament you describe. Just my opinion. =D

  • Kierkegaard. Of course. Why didn't I think of it... :-)

  • Brilliant Leesha, you are one smart cookie and very socially observant. :)

  • oohh beautiful!

    i love it

    you're brilliant!

  • Brilliant!

  • great song. i love your original songs ;)

  • I love this song its great and my kids loved it too,so much infact that i think we watched it at least 6 times lol!! 5 stars leesha, keep up the good work.

  • My kids are excited that I let them have the stick people and house to play with. :-) Glad you liked it--thanks for watching!

  • Brilliant Leesha. I love songs with a real message.

The video is fab too! This song kind of could be on the soundtrack for Revolutionary Road.

  • leesha hope every thang is going good love the song but singers sometimes sing about there life hope all is well with you and yours just worryed about you

  • Great Leesha, love the last verse, I love the way kids cut through the crap and tell it like it is..........

Perhaps I need to get garageband, is it easy to use?

  • I love Garageband! It is very easy to use and very easy to learn (especially if you watch the online tutorial videos to get you started).

  • What a nice song and video! :D

    Christiana

  • that was GREAT! Ya know, a sign of a truly good song is when people can take the song and say, "Oh wow. I know people like this (that are going through it or they themselves are going through it)"

And THAT song, "Let's play pretend", is a goooood song :)

  • Thanks, daytonafuntim!

  • This song is one of the greatest folk songs I've ever heard.Very creative.... and you now have a song that will hold up forever.

  • Wow... thank you!

  • I guess the grass is always greener over the septic tank eh? '-'

  • Awesome!

  • In some situations, people play out their troubles constantly yelling at each other in the front yard oblivious of the neighbors...

Very good provacitive song - the video was very clever & creative - the "oompah band" feel contributed a sense of the surreal... lightheartedness not matching the gravity of the lyrics...

  • I can appreciate the tragedy of these lyrics, but I'm more of a runner than an pretender. I imagine it takes a lot of courage to keep up pretenses for people. A fine performance! Thank you! :)

  • I'm good at faking the smile. That's the trouble with enjoying theater... one gets to be too good at acting. :-) Thanks for watching.

  • i Love It!!! 5*

  • Thanks!

  • This was very cute and sweet. Thank you for making such a big effort to delight us. :)

  • That was GREAT! Like, 'Tony the Tiger G-GR-REAT-T!'

Some kind of follow up to Gotta Stay, in my ears. And the 'innocence' of that animation TOTALLY worked! There's, like, some kind of irony created by that or somethng. .

  • Ah ha... my artistic vision has been understood. :-) Many thanks.

  • I like the style in the cutouts. It's cute.
