  • guys, i think its the memories that make us miss "this" placebo.

  • is a great song

  • Old School Placebo!

  • 10 dislikes? it brokes my heart, his voice is the best therapy in the world.

  • which year is this performance from? 1998, maybe?

  • These bonds are shackle free<3

  • I don't understand why you all are saying you "miss the old Placebo" they're immortalized in their music. They're never going anywhere. As for their sound changing, it's because they're people. Every CD should be a new chapter, something different. Accept it or don't move on, your choice.

I absolutely love Placebo, old and new. Molko and Olsdal are gods. <3

  • really miss old placebo :((

  • Mysterious yet so calming song. A masterpiece in my opinion.

  • ask me brian!!!

  • @showbiz87 quality vid. Audio files of this would be awesome. Is your username in re to muse? LOL

  • omg thisis so beautiful

    melancholy pure

  • placebo are still as great as ever all albums are each a consistent quality.

  • i wonder how they can perform this song on stage and be so calm without bursting into tears or whatever,,,

  • I watch this video often, it's better than the studio version. Even more haunting.

  • Favorite <3

  • Buen grupo , pero cuando te traducen las letras y entiendes lo que dicen , algunas canciones son un poco moñas, pero lo suplen por que son muy buenos musicos.

  • Love the drumming pattern.

  • How I love this coy song.

  • this song is so underrated. I think this time was the only one they performed it.

  • OMG! I shiver whenever I listen to this ( and to all the other beautiful and unique ones ) song!

Simply wonderful.. It's true that they'll never get old!

I just can't stop listening to this band, every day, I am totally addicted.

  • Time to pass you to the test...

  • I miss this Placebo =(

  • @molkosis so do i :(

  • @michaeljanet09 That's so sad for us, for all the people who really appreciate the real music.

  • god, get a friggin' grip.

  • This is so perfect <3

  • oh placebo you never get old its time for you to come to the U.S please for those of us that are the ackward kids with our placebo shirts that know one knows who they are please come to the U.S either way loves!!!!

  • <3<3 placebo ALWAYS!

  • This is what music is supposed to be, and what singing is supposed to be. Beautiful.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=pytTRJEtPhQ

    (For Placebo addicts only)

  • . ♥ .

  • Beautiful placebo

  • Brian was so cute ^_^

  • once upon the time Placebo...

  • @human20freedom it doesn't matter how many goddamn guitar solo's you put into a song, if people can connect with it, it's a winner. people connect with placebo for their lyrics and composition, so go fuck yourself.

  • @subliminalanger yep emoish lyrics that makes you wanna kill yourself ...better throw up now!!!

  • @human20freedom not everyone feels the same as you... resulting in not everyone wanting to listen to the same crap you do. 'genius' music is boring music. i like music that can make me feel. sure led zeppelin's great, but he doesnt fit in everyone's mold, all the time. accept that, and maybe you can finally stop trolling and get a god damn life. ;D x

  • @human20freedom the funniest thing is that you don´t like Placebo but you´ve been here at least 2 times only to make nonsense comments...every time people say to me...if you are good, people will make comments, good and bad...is worst when you don´t have any comment about your work because it means that your work didn´t touched people

  • i can't even say how much I love this song,it's quite...unbearable and celestial at the same time.

  • This song is soooo melancholy...

  • świetne! 10\5

  • So smooth and beautiful...

These bonds are shackle free... despite we are not free

Fantastic Lyrics from Brian Molko, always

  • ESTA MAL HECHA LA TRADUCCION :S

  • "Give up this fight, there are no second chances.

    This time I might.

To ask the sea for answers.

These bonds are shackle free, wrapped in lust and lunacy.

    Tiny touch of jealousy,

    these bonds are shackle free."

  • :)))))))))))))))))))))

  • woow brian with a bass!!!!!!! es una estrellita!!!!!!

  • wie cool.....von wann ist das denn? er sieht soooo jung aus

  • hey! by the way thank for upload this song, is one of my favorites, amazing song, beautiful!!!

  • when we heard song's like this, we want back the old placebo, this is a masterpiece, ths last album is good, but no more than "without you i'm nothing" or "placebo", This song for me is the 2nd best song I've heard in my fuckin life behind of "hurt" of Nine inch nails

  • this old placebo is the one!!!!, too bad they changed..

  • so blue song i think

    but i love it

  • although i enjoy the evident progression of the band (as musicians obviously), songs like this always have a certain nostalgia and capture an atmopshere you'd rarely hear from other pieces of music. the composition of their songs are truly fantastic

  • the last album is not musicaly bad, but I'm nostalgic of "old" placebo...more dark, celebral and tortured.

Sorry for my bad English :s :p

    vive Placebo

  • I totally agree with you...I miss the old Brian, the old texts, the old atmosphere...I love all the songs from the new CD but...they don't reach the same intensity of past masterpieces..

    I love PLacebo anyway ...

  • @thibus34 I agree! Old Placebo were the dark voice whispering in your ear about your own secrets. At least, to me their music was like this.

Now they're still a really good band, but the voice is not there anymore.

  • I concur, and your English is nearly perfect. Good job.

  • @thibus34 so true :( :(

  • This is Hypnotizing & so Amazing!!

  • I can not stop loving

    that man

  • Hmm.. :) He sings so tenderly into his microphone. ♥

  • playing the bass! awesome! thx for the upload!! love this...

  • brillant songwriting from brian, circa 1998?

  • Perfeito. Como eles podem ser tão perfeitos assim? :) amo demais.

  • <3 LOVE PLACEBO!!!!

  • Genial. Placebo, Placebo, Placebo. A melhor banda de todos os tempos.

  • they`ve become so commercial now :(

  • hey...thats not true...so many years have passed.they have grown older, and the energy today is another but its so süecial too!i was at a concert in november and the new energy was sooo extreme!

    its still PLACEBO

    forever!

  • Comment removed

  • i totally agree with you :)

  • it's true u know

u shouldnt give him a thumbs down

compare this to what i've seen live..

they didnt do shit to the crowd & they didnt even seem to care about all those beautiful songs they've made in the past

i wish i saw 'm 10 years earlier if you ask me

  • you are a stupid indie jaja u sucks

  • @felice000000 you mean sucsessful

  • I love it when Brian plays the bass, it's so unusual ^^ Thanks for the upload! ♥

  • "wir machen jetzt ein bisschen alte schule"

  • das hat Brain am 9.11. in Stuttgart auch gesagt!!!

  • i just wish placebo

    would return to their roots

& make songs like these again

    i mean wtf..

he made such awesome songs without

any knowledge of what he was doing, he was like this kid born perfect o_o & now with battle for the sun the songs don't seem to touch me as hard as the older ones, & it's like they've gone to a whole new level. they should mix styles not take a whole new form :I a well..

  • I know what you mean... Without You I'm Nothing is by far the album that touched me the most, and I have a very special place for both Black Market Music and Sleeping with Ghosts. But since Meds I've felt that I cannot connect with the songs... It's not that the new songs are bad, it's just that they cannot reach my heart and soul I suppose....

  • this has always been my favorite performance...

  • molko is a "special gay"

  • They're still great but old Placebo was better

  • definitely.battle for the sun has a couple good songs but all of them are somewhat sold out.some more than others (for what its worth).its sad how pretty much all bands evolve into a marketing tool

  • @SaraK189 I really miss the old placebo :(

  • Nothing compares to placebo 's first songs like this one . Touching .

  • old placebo is the where the good stuff is

  • I totally agree with angrygoldfish, no 1 & nothing will ever be tha same as the music that they played, made, covered, then. and us older folk always had Placebo in our "record collection" in some ways it seems a bit sad that they are now being chased/stalked/in love with "Brian Molko"/ bullshit,15 yrs has gone by, but being the true musicians4life that Placebo is they will be around 4 another 15 @ least.

  • I love the acoustic version omg *__*

  • Brian has a special way to make one & every of his songs so lovely & perfect.

  • nICE ACOUSTIC VERSION!

  • I like the new drummer, Steve, but the old Steve was so unique for Placebo. I miss it when Placebo was just Hewitt, Molko and Olsdal on stage. Just a three piece full of mystique and beautiful energy.

  • I was lucky enough to see them as just the three. Shortly thereafter Hewitt left.

  • @angrygoldfish Jep, I know right. 'New' Placebo isn't that mysterious anymore with the new Steve who is full of energy.

Hopwever, if one listens to their new album from a neutral point of view it IS great! But I (and probably you) knew Placebo from years before that (more specifically from Black Market Music) and I can't help feeling a little bit depressed because a major support in my life when I felt miserable has faded away...

  • @bakkermaarten007 I tried listening to the new album from a neutral standpoint and I still found it too traditional. It's a good album in that it has good songs, but it needs to be more than that. They always had feelings running throughout their records. This one just seemed like a straight-up piece of rock.

And I understand what you're saying about how important their music was to you. I also relied on their honesty to get by.

  • @angrygoldfish I agree with you totally! New Placebo is not the same, you know that man Steve Hewitt just got something and Brian and Stef and he were such a unique combination. Its seems like it is just as you said that on these new album there is no feelings running throughout songs. Now-days they are more plastic and more empty...

  • @angrygoldfish - I have a hard time watching the new Steve. He just can't keep his head still. I checked out Hewitt's band on-line, but I found it lacking, too. It just has to go back to Molko, Hewitt and Olsdal. Bring back the "tried and true"

  • @angrygoldfish couldn't agree with you more. don't get me wrong, i adore placebo meds and onwards, but old placebo was pure perfection with just the three piece, so simple, so good.

  • Comment removed

  • @angrygoldfish even though i'm a die hard fan of this band, i can't help but agree with you. one thing you have to consider though too was the way their music was arranged prior to Sleeping with Ghosts or even Black Market Music. it was A LOT easier to pull of their songs as just a 3 piece..but as the arrangements became more complex, more people needed to be added so the songs didn't sound empty. as for drummers tho, i think steve hewitt was perfect for this band. the new guy is ok...

  • Best thing!

  • This version is profound.

  • is perfect♥

  • this time ... i´ll might to ask the sea for answers :( (U)

  • they are so amazing

  • and never done a bad song yet

  • what year is that?

  • 1998

  • How is this accoustic?

  • I agree his guitar playing is super ~bad ass! I don't think he gets enough credit for that.

  • this is beautiful. love baby brian back in the day! :)

  • "these bonds are shackle free" choosing(?) to be caught up in a ...relationship that isnt really easy or necessarily convienent(?) brilliant song Placebo is brilliant

  • get through this.....

    there are no second chances.....

    great

  • love this tune....so much meaning...

  • Not sure what brian is playing in this vid, looks like a 5 string bass at a glance, but Stef is playing brians lovely Fender Jaguar aka Bitch. Love that guitar.

  • Brian is playing a 4 string fender jazz bass .

  • he's noot playing Bitch...

Bitch is Brian's guitar and Stef is playing a "normal" Jaguar... Brian's Bitch has a normal headstock and Stef's haas a red headstock ;D
