I don't understand why you all are saying you "miss the old Placebo" they're immortalized in their music. They're never going anywhere. As for their sound changing, it's because they're people. Every CD should be a new chapter, something different. Accept it or don't move on, your choice.

gay music boring emoish freaky android, i wonder what people find good in this shity non talented freaks, first of all he cant even play guitar (if we can call this thing a "he")!! no guitar solos, no versatility,no music education, thank god there are classic rock bands out there, worh listening too with great musical education (pink floyd, led zeppelin, deep purple, rush, genesis, yes, toto, uriah heep, van halen, gary moore- what can we say about these gods gifted with talent!)
@human20freedom it doesn't matter how many goddamn guitar solo's you put into a song, if people can connect with it, it's a winner. people connect with placebo for their lyrics and composition, so go fuck yourself.
@human20freedom not everyone feels the same as you... resulting in not everyone wanting to listen to the same crap you do. 'genius' music is boring music. i like music that can make me feel. sure led zeppelin's great, but he doesnt fit in everyone's mold, all the time. accept that, and maybe you can finally stop trolling and get a god damn life. ;D x
@human20freedom the funniest thing is that you don´t like Placebo but you´ve been here at least 2 times only to make nonsense comments...every time people say to me...if you are good, people will make comments, good and bad...is worst when you don´t have any comment about your work because it means that your work didn´t touched people
when we heard song's like this, we want back the old placebo, this is a masterpiece, ths last album is good, but no more than "without you i'm nothing" or "placebo", This song for me is the 2nd best song I've heard in my fuckin life behind of "hurt" of Nine inch nails
although i enjoy the evident progression of the band (as musicians obviously), songs like this always have a certain nostalgia and capture an atmopshere you'd rarely hear from other pieces of music. the composition of their songs are truly fantastic
I totally agree with you...I miss the old Brian, the old texts, the old atmosphere...I love all the songs from the new CD but...they don't reach the same intensity of past masterpieces..
hey...thats not true...so many years have passed.they have grown older, and the energy today is another but its so süecial too!i was at a concert in november and the new energy was sooo extreme!
any knowledge of what he was doing, he was like this kid born perfect o_o & now with battle for the sun the songs don't seem to touch me as hard as the older ones, & it's like they've gone to a whole new level. they should mix styles not take a whole new form :I a well..
I know what you mean... Without You I'm Nothing is by far the album that touched me the most, and I have a very special place for both Black Market Music and Sleeping with Ghosts. But since Meds I've felt that I cannot connect with the songs... It's not that the new songs are bad, it's just that they cannot reach my heart and soul I suppose....
definitely.battle for the sun has a couple good songs but all of them are somewhat sold out.some more than others (for what its worth).its sad how pretty much all bands evolve into a marketing tool
I totally agree with angrygoldfish, no 1 & nothing will ever be tha same as the music that they played, made, covered, then. and us older folk always had Placebo in our "record collection" in some ways it seems a bit sad that they are now being chased/stalked/in love with "Brian Molko"/ bullshit,15 yrs has gone by, but being the true musicians4life that Placebo is they will be around 4 another 15 @ least.
I like the new drummer, Steve, but the old Steve was so unique for Placebo. I miss it when Placebo was just Hewitt, Molko and Olsdal on stage. Just a three piece full of mystique and beautiful energy.
@angrygoldfish Jep, I know right. 'New' Placebo isn't that mysterious anymore with the new Steve who is full of energy.
Hopwever, if one listens to their new album from a neutral point of view it IS great! But I (and probably you) knew Placebo from years before that (more specifically from Black Market Music) and I can't help feeling a little bit depressed because a major support in my life when I felt miserable has faded away...
@bakkermaarten007 I tried listening to the new album from a neutral standpoint and I still found it too traditional. It's a good album in that it has good songs, but it needs to be more than that. They always had feelings running throughout their records. This one just seemed like a straight-up piece of rock.
And I understand what you're saying about how important their music was to you. I also relied on their honesty to get by.
@angrygoldfish I agree with you totally! New Placebo is not the same, you know that man Steve Hewitt just got something and Brian and Stef and he were such a unique combination. Its seems like it is just as you said that on these new album there is no feelings running throughout songs. Now-days they are more plastic and more empty...
@angrygoldfish - I have a hard time watching the new Steve. He just can't keep his head still. I checked out Hewitt's band on-line, but I found it lacking, too. It just has to go back to Molko, Hewitt and Olsdal. Bring back the "tried and true"
@angrygoldfish couldn't agree with you more. don't get me wrong, i adore placebo meds and onwards, but old placebo was pure perfection with just the three piece, so simple, so good.
@angrygoldfish even though i'm a die hard fan of this band, i can't help but agree with you. one thing you have to consider though too was the way their music was arranged prior to Sleeping with Ghosts or even Black Market Music. it was A LOT easier to pull of their songs as just a 3 piece..but as the arrangements became more complex, more people needed to be added so the songs didn't sound empty. as for drummers tho, i think steve hewitt was perfect for this band. the new guy is ok...
