it all good to have a big  army/navy, but any ship or tank is only as good as its crew.

what would happen if the us came up against another nation (fictional) that had the same eq as they had, they would prob lose, why because they are to relient on being the biggest.

on most military manuvers where the us are on equal terms with the enemy they lose.

but that is what this series show that even if you have small numbers you can pull through .

I agree. It's a shame what they did with the Enterprise. If any U.S. ship should be saved as a museum it's the Enterprise.

@ramido12 Kind of. There were lots of fleet battles in the area. The IJN had a staging base to the NW, the US had a staging base in the SW at Santa Cruz.

So the US landed troops on Guadal and they took the Airfield. Cue a big naval battle. Then, they met off Santa Cruz, which was bloody and brought the US down to 1 carrier - Still fighting on Guadal. Then, the US foiled a IJN attempt to retake Guadal with an air/naval force. Still fighting on Guadal, but now it will be US's.

Thanks for posting this fantastic series. dfdadude, they refer to the cruisers as frigates because the first wooden US navy ships were frigates, in the wooden navy the ship smaller than a line-of-battle ship was a frigate. A liberty based on US tradition. Another liberty - the leading Jap night bombers actually dropped flares on the water; these float-flares told the squadron the direction of travel of the target, and even details like how many, etc.
