@Bobbi286 You just need to have M2TW + kingdoms expansion + 1.5 or 1.4 patch. Then you need to go to the Total War Center (twcenter.net) and search for "Third age" in the mods section under download(or just type it in google :3). Hope i helped :D. I'm downloading it now btw :D

The Hornburg is IN Helms Deep. Just and FYI. Also, The sun came up, that is why the Uruks could not see when reenforcements came. 'Look to the east'

I was extremely grate ful when Rohan used their Heavy Infantry to hold back Isengard so that my Silvan forces could pummel them with arrows... I won the battle before Eomer arrived, Haldir survived, but Theoden died. Second time playing this, Rohan stood back and my elvish force got ripped apart.

According to the book Legolas was the only elf inside Helms Deep. Also, Eomer was inside Helms Deep and the one bringing reinforcements with Gandalf was Erkenbrand instead. The movie improvised alot in this battle, the elven army being the main flaw.

To be completely honest, this map SUCKS, but not just because the fortress looks like crap. Look at the mini map... The entire battlefield is in the friggin corner of the map and the rest of the map is nothing but mountains. What were the creators thinking when they made this? I'm glad theres going to be a new patch, and a new re-modeling to helm's deep entirely. THANK.....GOD.

@Anathar88 HOW soon? Altough I don't see how they are going to create a bomb for the middle of the deeping wall. Anyway I have been playing Third age for over... 6 hours, and I am thrilled, I was little disapointed over the fortresses build and missing of Pelenor fields battle under "Historical", but I got over it very quickly... can't wait for 3.0.

@Toneai2007 I myself don't know when exactly they're coming out with the next patch, and I highly doubt they will EVER come out with a bomb for the deeping wall, but thats why they have catapults :) As for the battle of pelenor fields, play the fellowship campaign and you'll eventually get to it. It was one of the hardest battles i've ever fought in the mod, and it is MASSIVE. If my memory is correct, Mordor has at LEAST 2, maybe 3, full armies on the field. I'll have to play again to be sure.

@Anathar88 The battle sucked! I had four armies of my own (Some Hero named Roy with tons of mercenaris, Rohan, Aragorn with all he could pick up in the south and ,I don't know how they stayed in my control, whole dwarven army) with Gondorian reinforcments. There were more units than in Battle of Hornburg (movie and book version alike), I had to move my screen to the corner and let them the armies duke it out between each other. WHat angered me most were hundreds of trees around the battleground.

great vid,finally some commentary!! well i have a low to mid range pc and run touch and go with this great mod.Haven't played a campaign yet but custom battles will occassionally crash 3 out of 10 ten times perhaps.but then again I reall like to do seiges.there is a known bug w/ seiges by the way.but a way around it too.

actually the sun was rising then when Gandalf arrived it wasn't his staff and to say it's not as far fetched as u think for horses to stop; when u have pikemen in line spears down idk look at the battle horses of 43bc onward they rammed'em wether or not pikemen were in line spears down or not they trammpled all over those suckers lol

Name your favorite reconstruction of helms deep. Almost every single video game with the opportunity to create maps has it, even in the original LOTR Risk, it happened, where I am left, defending a fully guarded fortress of Helms Deep, the only good guy settlement left, while the Fellowship was almost off the map. The bad guys took over Helms Deep at the very last minute, and we lost.

My favorite version is Warcraft 3. Everything is well reconstructed.

must be based on the films more than the books since elves are at Helms deep (in the book it was just men of Rohan plus the three hunters (Aragorn Legolas and Gimli) though it seems to take parts of the book such as the riders of dol Amroth and the Harad Cavalry which arent seen in the films (I can only hope they kept the attack of the flubber out of this mod since it is for me the absolute worst part of the films its totally pointless end to what was up to then a great battle...

@hungder You'd have to sort out the right alliances and have the armies in the right place, I'd imagine. I don't think your army would really count as reinforcements, though ... you'd just be fighting alongside Rohan as an ally (assuming you met all the other conditions).

@destructionking23 theres a special thing you must do to to play siege battles:

In the map selection interface you MUST select 'settlement>fort' first and then set the type of castle to 'dwarves'. Once you do this, you can select the siege battle of your liking

I recommend turning down your graphic settings, also adjusting the unit scale which adds more units to every batallion/legion (whatever u wanna call it). I may recall the default setting for TATW was 'huge' and M2TW was 'normal'scale

@ostrogoth182 Evil side got Orcs of Gundabad, and the good side got the Kingdom of Arnor. Arnor is the old human kingdom that fought with the elves in the Last Alliance against Sauron (first part of the movie Fellowship of the Ring). I'm not really sure about the lore behind Gundabad.
