I've used to cut and bend wire hangers, but now I use steel or aluminum wire that you can find at Home Depot or most hardware stores.

do you glue the seed beed onto the crane or do you actually string the cranes?

I just hang the entire mobile from another piece of nylon thread. The mobile is light enough that you can hang it from the ceiling with a tack or a pin. :)

A glass seed bead holds the cranes and I tie the other end of the string to the wires above the birds.
