  • run dmc. what's it all about. rap another roses song.

  • ready to sell me house in june if thats not enuff 4a stone roses ticket then the wife must go aswell ;0

  • lol, this is something taht Jay-Z would make a cover of xD

  • where can i download this? i dj in cardiff and want to play it!

  • @winf1234

check out the end of the info section, i just added a link to soundcloud. i'm glad you like the track!

  • @winf1234 Try Youtubedownloader! :)

  • nice. yeah it does work.

  • ian brown would probably like this as he is a fan of jay z .

  • people who like music would never bad mouth either of these artists.....sorry to see Roses fans doing that....thought more of you guys than that......

  • if people find this catchy its only down to the fact that its got fools gold on it apart from that its manyacka!!!

  • hip hop is my thing but the roses are a superb band its not the best mix ive ever heard but its ok its quite catchy! keep it up man!!

  • I'm a black chick that listened to thier album and this song when it made it debut in 1990. I had a six foot poster of them in my room that said "A mind trip worth taking" I'm surprised that they made a compilation together. I do agree that they are one of the best bands ever. Jay -Z is not my favorite musician, however hes worth $250 million at least.

  • You should get a mix of this and wretch 32......oh wait its already out there (check out "unorthodox- wretch 32 ft example" people) sick tuuuuuuuune

  • @Eddietheallrounder that songs fucking irritating, i have to turn over whenever it comes on the radio.

  • i respect both jay-z and stone roses a lot, but i just think these mix is not very fitting, i am not talking tecnicaly i thinki the dj did a realy good job, but two songs are too diferent, one is one is relaxing other is agressive and the rapping os jay-z is too loud for these beat, it would be a better remix if you get a more rhyming rapper like mike shinoda.

  • @jinruizhang

    agreed

  • this is fucking worth it. end of.

  • Fuck me! The Stone Roses....I hope they got seriously paid for this. I could put angry lyrics to any old music as well. Maybe I've missed my calling!

  • Theft pays!

  • What the fuck is he doing?

This geezer is 'King Monkey'.... but in a different kind of way.

  • Jay-Z owns the Lakers.. Don't hate on the man.. He is a legend and will not be forgotten. He has been going strong for over a decade and owns a Record Label .,. Seriously. He is well established.. You might not like his rapping skills,, you have every right, but the man has some major smarts when it comes to business and has left a huge footprint in New York City and has reached legendary status.

  • this is great !!! I WANT MORE !!

  • from 2 mins in this IS frickin AWESOME :)

  • Fan of the Roses. These two shouldn't be together. Roses are legends and are remembered fondly to this day. Somehow I doubt Jay-Z will fare the same.

  • im a fan of both jay z and the stone roses, and this is quite funky

  • love the roses hate jay z but this is groovy as hell. love it.

  • love the roses hate jay c but this is groovy as hell. love it.

  • this is sad.

  • very very very good. =)

  • sounds like old school hip hop this way! WORD SON!! :D. i love both artists <3. this came out hot!!

  • the best mash-up yet.fac51t

  • Usually HATE mashups, but couldn't pass up my favorite band w/ jay z laid over. Pretty impressive & don't sell the States short, Long Live the Roses!

  • Who would have thought these songs would go together so well

  • @TheAjdam RIGHT?! :D

  • Very nice! Good job putting together 2 artists that are considered by many the best of their genres. People that don't get that are being closed minded about the music. Is this that available anywhere?

  • shit remix mate!

  • MAN!!!! I am from the Stone Roses side, never really heard J-Z. I will do now....this mashup is WIKKKKKKED..!!!!

  • Yes, I bruv. Loving this mashup. I'm from the Stone Roses side, never really heard J-Z but this is good shi! ;)

  • Cool blend .

  • well done to whoever put the mix together...

  • it should be stone roses ft jay-z ;) stone roses wud kick jay-z's ass but i dnt mind some rap soo its gd

  • TOO GROOVY FOR MOST...But don't hate...music is universal...and this is PROOF...I remember when the stone roses were NEW...PEACE

  • I'm probably one of the few who is a fan of both Stone Roses and Jay-Z...good music is good music, man. People need to stop thinking within genres and cultures and just GROOVE, MAN. That's what it's all about : ]

  • this is shit hot!!!! how can i download this??? absolute top class remix

  • What a load of shit , jz the eternal forever young never talented sellout , go and play with Bill Gates two sickos together .

  • Decent

  • fuck me thats not half bad mate, not a huge jay z fan but this is class..props.

  • @funkadizzle: couldn't have said it better myself... this is surprisingly decent

  • @funkadizzle

Stone roses could make a song. But yeah this is not bad

  • very good... love it how jay-z is mixed up with artists like radiohead or the stone roses and it fits so well... nice combo

  • hey fools gold is my fav choon eva, but i like this!

run dmc samples the roses back in the day... name that tune anyone?

    WIAA? (clue)

the rap gets a bit lame here tho i must admit, but the beat saves it, white boy funk! Respect!!

    Peace all xx

  • Classic tune - 'whats it all about'.

Its on youtube, i remember seeing it on this BBC2 dance show many many years ago. Great tune

  • You cant lose if your mixing the roses, I would imagine the band realise this is a great compliment, its all about being open minded, it doesn't matter, If you like it, great, if you dont, great, no hassle

  • shite

  • love jay z and the roses. excellent mix

  • love jay z AND the stone roses, anl love this.

  • You clearly don't know who The Stone Roses are & how highly they are thought of.

A band still relevant today as they were 20 years ago. A band that defined an era in British music.

Not necessarily their best song, but certainly their showpiece. Fools Gold is butchered by Jay-Z, a man who can only talk over beats he steals from other artists.

The man's simply not fit enough to lick their boots.

Fools Gold is trashed in this instance.

  • well said

  • Comment removed

  • @Grizlaaaaaaaaa the roses didn't 'steal' this beat?

  • Rap sucks. They are musical thieves.

  • Comment removed

  • Dont get me wrong the original is AMAZING! but this is pretty good nice job.

  • its not that bad.. thought it would be piss... good job!!

  • absolute shite im a big stone roses fan n you go and put a shite rapper in it......... SHAME... A MINT SONG..... RUINED

  • "Shite rapper" Do you KNOW who Jay Z is?!?!

  • Do you KNOW who the stone roses are?

  • I do NOW and I can def appreciate it. Why are you hating on a good thing? This is not the 1st Ive heard of the Stone Roses, but this combo is pretty sick. I suggest maybe you broaden your musical IQ as well

  • This has way exceeded my expectations I had when I saw this.

    Good job.

  • Take this song down, Pleasseee. Its A mockery of Music

  • i disagree with your info in the top right corner i listen to jay-z and like the stone roses, good work

  • Comment removed

  • im a breakdancer and this mix wld be wkd for a popping mix ;) cheers mate :) wkd mix did well

  • I like it, nice job mate.

  • W.T.F shud stick to linkin park instead of fuckin up one of the best records ever..

  • Are you really supposed to be a DJ? hahahahahaa! Weak sauce.

  • Pricks. It's GOOD.

  • i listened to the first 15 songs then decided to pause or i would never, ever able to listen to fools gold ever again. oh what have you done, fucking shameless.

  • this is wrong, JUST WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm a fuckin' massive fan of both and this is genius , well done mate. 5 stars

  • BLASPHEMY!

  • they've raped the greatest rock-masterpiece of the 20th century!!!!

  • Jay-Z ain't fit enough to tie the laces of Brown, Squire, Mani & Reni! The Stone Roses are amongst the best bands ever, with tunes that are simply untouchable. Long live their vibe.. Jay-Z can fuck off!

  • not amongst they are the best band ever

  • @Grizlaaaaaaaaa jay-z has given something to rap too even though i don't find his rap's topics to be that serious

  • i think it should be The Stone Roses feat. Jay Z

  • Very clever, One of, if not thee sickest groove of the 20th century.

  • this is actually really good

  • incerdible...prefer the stone roses though

  • This is great 5/5

  • I laughed when I saw the thumbnail for this. I don't listen to much hip hop or whatever, and I don't listen to Jay Z when I do.

But this works very well and you can still get groovey to the Roses. 5 stars.

  • This sounds like 'Jay-Z' by the Stone Roses, who are from there.

  • Wow I Erm I Think Erm

What Is With These Stupid Arrogant Black American Rappers They Have No Talent As You Saw With Jay Z At Glastonbury

Alls It Is Is Talking To A Microphone

Fair Enough Some People Like It So Stick To Your Own Shitty Music And DO NOT TAINT OUR CLASSIC MUSIC WE DO NOT NEED IT DO NOT WANT IT

    Oh Yeah Black Rapper People?

Make A Funkier Song Than This And I'll Eat My Hat

    Wankers

  • i agree,

this shit made me throw up in my mouth a little!

  • brush your teeth

  • cock

  • What's more sad is that someone who is considered to be one of the pre-emminent black rappers is being utterly outclassed in terms of soul, groove and rhythm by four white English guys; Ian Brown could rap this better than Jaz Z, unquestionably so.

American rap has rarely been about talent - more who can brag the most without getting shot. Unfortunately, the man who would have been the greatest rapper ever died by his own foolish credo. R.I.P Tupac.

    .

  • you have jus ruined an amazing song. Jayz is a fukin joke.

  • Jay-Z the most overrated rapper of all time - terrible high pitched tone to his voice, bad pacing, poor rhyming.

The tune overall sounds alright but even a monkey would sound alright rapping over a tune as classic as this.

Try writing your own tunes Jaz-Z...

  • i agree! ive never been a Jay-Z fan, but in his defence he doesnt write which explains his poor rhymes, i heard he only writes the hooks and then freestyles his albums in the studio,

  • reni and mani will be so proud....

  • stone roses are the cool of the kool and jay z is a piss take man, and he pissed all over this like e did with wonderwall at T in the park by oasis

  • great track

  • Any true Roses fan would appreciate this because too appreciate the Roses you have to appreciate Music and the Jay-Z rap even if you are not a fan of his work adds to this and doesnt detract....adds a strong vocal front to a great back beat....you cant ask for more than that in a mashup....if you want to hear a rubbish mashup check out Red Hot Chili Peppers Vs Verve

  • Or if you want to hear a good example of the Verve being used check out Forgot about Dre (Bitter Sweet Remix)

  • I bet the haters have never created anything in their lives. Completely dead inside with no love for anything apart from for themselves...makes me glad to be me with all the love I have to give and the guy who made this has got it and thanks for sharing bro....

  • Well one thing you can say without fear of contradiction is the Jay-Z has a better voice than Ian Brown .....so has my mum while we are at it.....and I'm a huge Roses fan...

Loving this even if Jay-Z isnt my usual type of hiphop/rap....used to mix Public Enemy with Drum and bass or Eric B and Rakim "Paid in Full" works a treat into the 12" of Loose Fit by the Mondays

  • yeah dude i fucking agree with ya ian wudnt be the greatest singer ever ha still fucking luv the cunt though

  • this is great!

  • wtf!!! So funny...

  • very nice

  • i like it!! i think it's a very clever mix!!

  • loving this , massive roses fan and I love this version of encore , I think i prefer it to the dangermouse beatles one

  • Moaners if you knew jack shit about rap you'd know Jay Z struggled just like the roses in the early years against people who thought he was shit. Through hard work and determination both rose to produce some of the most life changing music I have ever heard. One group was from up the road, the other bloke from across the globe. Just because you dont appreciate something doesnt mean its shit.

ps awesome shout on Voodoo chile/99 problems!

  • preach brother, well said loving voodoo to, check out a mix of jays with the song late december back in 63,truly life changing

  • like your style mate! good mix!

  • master-piece mash-up!!!!!!

  • lol i was taking the mick u bright sparks!john squire has got mates??lol.stick to the painting john those 2 solo albums were shocking!

  • I'm a Roses fan from the very start, kinda liked this, suprised it hasn't been done before, but you know the original version is still there, it's not like it's been taken out the back and burned. Oh and jonnyhendrixson, John Squire is alive and well, living in Lancashire and painting. sidgreen, god bless ya, couldn't agree with you more. Long live The Stone Roses!

  • check out Run D.M.C. 'what's it all about?', mate; soz if this is pointed out in earlier posts.

  • what the fuck are you playing at

  • everyone needs to chill, this brings together two different artists who people would never think could sound good together, even in a mashup. lighten up. well done chris

  • I find this offensive. It's like taking a sacred monument and SHITTING ALL OVER IT. don't come to my street jay fucking z you tosser

  • this is kickass. good work.

  • jay z is the shittest of all the shit rappers him and eminen spoiling hip hop to the bone.d ya hear? shit to the bone!lol ian browns a better rapper.john squire would turn in his grave if he heard this!

  • good mash up skills tho!

  • he would have to die first!

  • john squire is not dead you fanny in fact hes sittin right here beside me as i type this message say hello john "hi"

  • not as good as the hendrix mix voodoo chile vs 99 problems

  • it would be quiet fitting if he did this version at glasto this weekend following noel gallaghers comments on guitar bands/rap artists at glasto

    perfect comprimise

  • Great mix!!!!!!

I'm not usually a fan of Rap, but man this mix sounds great

  • lol love this song i wonder has jay z heard this

  • this is awsome

  • What a tune fucking genius

  • this a wel good mix man!! isit possible to get this anywhere?? limewire??

  • thanks! just added a download link to the info box

  • cunt

  • ad &fmt=18 to the URL and this sounds MUCH better!

  • im gonna upload a video of fools gold mixed with a group caled 3rd Bass and see what people think of it, ill have it up by the end of the week, and ill post it as a responce to this so you can find it easier, check it out if yu like this, rappers are loads better 3rd bass as well. peace

  • that description of the video is well good, thats exactly what i like to do, i apreciate both these artists, stone roses are amazing, did so much for brit pop, not that americans would no bout that. but this song is rythmic genius, seriously you can mix this song with anything its genius

  • run dmc work it better always goes down a treat at parties

  • This is awesome man - two of my favorite songs ever - this totally works great!!!

  • love it man

  • wat a mix, where could i get this?

  • just added a download link to the infobox

  • It sounds OK, but nothing new here. Rappers with zero music skills have been "borrowing" real music for years.

  • tune! you got this one spot on musicmanmiko

  • Where do you get instrumentals from and what software did you use, I have a good idea!

  • I used the original Fool's Gold recording with the acapella version of Jay-Z's Encore which is on 'Black Album (Acapella)'. I used Cubase SX for sequencing and ReCycle for sampling.

  • Did you do something to bring down the vocals?

  • he hasnt, but you can, if yu either mix this on vinyl or on virtual dj which yuo can download the trial for, and its worth it, its so fun

  • Back in 1990 or so, Jam Master Jay used the Fool's Gold melody for Run DMC's "What's It All About."

  • Interesting... more hypnotic as the song goes on... but it could be better if stripped of the Stone Roses' vocals.

and, for the record, I'm one Jay Z fan who has long known about the Stone Roses. Those who limit themselves to one style of music are only hurting themselves, no limits to the world of music, only those we put up ourselves.....

  • Actually fucking brilliant :)

  • this is really good

  • fits perfect, brillant.

  • agreed mart, pure brilliance, expect a lowrider version any time soon

  • Beautiful....Thats it....

  • genius, the pair of em!

  • when was this done?

  • last month

  • Excellent

  • Nice one this would go down well at a club.

  • Awesome Mash-up, blends extremly well together. GOOD WORK!! two thumbs up.
