I remember seeing her perfom on a local TV show in Akron, Ohio when I was 14 years old. It was a cheaply made dance-show from Cleveland with local teenagers dancing in the audience.
And then suddenly there was ASHA, wearing a shiny gold outfit. She sang "Music Machine" and "My Whip," accompanied by 2 young guys in black leotards doing some sort of interperative dancing while she sang. It was kind of odd, but I still remember watching it in on my Grandma's TV with fascination...
If anyone has the Disconet Volume 3 Program 11 remix of 'The Whip' by David Rodriguez please contact me, happy to swap for some other rare Disconet remixes or anything really!
My gods, I had no idea something like this would exist! Footage of Asha singing 'The Whip' complete with...er...a whip! (cannot beat the literalism of the 70s). The two tracks she did with Italian soundtrack legends Goblin, this and 'Sound Of Money' which appeared on the 'Squadra Anti Gangsters' soundtrack are my two favourite Asha tracks (along with Space Talk!). Many Goblin fans hate this album for being 'too disco' but I love it, infact I am going to play it now! Thanks for the video!
Disconet :: DJ NEWS Volume 3 Program 11 As France Joli was about to make her first appearance on Fire Island (with Ethel Merman expected to arrive on a barge) two summers ago, Asha and David Rodriguez were putting the final touches on a song that wouldn't see the light of day (or night) until this Disconet. Asha appeared on the Island with France, and Ethel never made it because she was touring in the south. Asha sang "The Whip" and people went wild.
Yes Distorty , and this was way before we heard Madonna. Asha's lyrics are clever, funny, witty. So different from the lyrics of her song "the Devil is Loose" which has depth, mystery and is a whole story . Thank you for the clip
