What do you mean FWD can be a pain? Why is it a pain? I admit, no FWD drive car is ever going to be as good as a RWD or 4WD, but the 850 T5 is one of the best FWD cars out there, infact there is only one FWD car i've ever driven that i believe to better and that was a Honda Integra Type R.

@PokerArpad, I see your point but 4wd rarely has advantages over rwd except for losse surface racing such as rallying. Although these modern drive systems offer the best of of both rwd and 4wd drive by utilysing 4wd as secondary system that kicks in when things get a bit out of shape. But yeah rwd is the best way forward.

There is a guy who has also 390 hp, but reduced the weight of the car to about 1100 kilograms. He has been active in a forum i was in a few years ago. My S80 D5 also got 200 hp and its a nice comfortable car for every day. I sold my 850T5, sadly :-((... But iam looking forward to own a V70 T5 or a New R, if i can afford it... well time will see.. work work work ;-).....

The sound of that engine is such a sweetie, that it drives many people grazy ! It's all quiet and when suddenly you need to GO, then there's that arrrrrrrr voice + turbo and, gone he is, fadening in distance!

But yet, it remains the best highway cruiser ever!

Everyone's given idivpizdu the thumbs dowm for his comment but he's right, and that's coming from me who drives a 850 T5. Cornering acceleration isn't great, understeer is quite pronounced and traction in the wet could be a lot better. I think all of these problems could be greatly improved if volvo had provided bigger wheels as they did on the T5-R. Something like 225/40/17 rather than 205/45/16

Sounds great, what else have you done apart from the re-map? 295 bhp sounds a little optomistic unless you have other mods too. Even with hi-flow exhaust and re-map 280bhp would be about your limit for an 850.

It has also been chipped and will beat my mates Subaru sti even though he gets 1st 20 meters on me due to him having 4wd i can get past him after about 500 meters.

What do you mean it has also been chipped as well? Chipping is re-mapping. What i said was that you wont get 295 bhp from a standard 850 T5 with just a re-map or chip (whatever you want to call it). I know many companies claim to figures of around 300bhp with a re-map (some even higher) but you wont actually ever achieve those figures. Circa 270bhp is your limit.

With these cars, there are basically two relatively easily attained levels of tuning. The first is that in which the stock 15G turbo is the major limiting factor in increasing performance, with a ceiling around ~270-300bhp.

It's the Nurburgring. It's where a lot of car manufacturers test and design their suspension. There are Vans and other crappy cars because anyone can do a lap there, just pay and your on your way.
