I get the comments, and being a former member of the woman hater's club, completely understand them. I like this movie because it is a morality play, a lesson about loyalty and trust between partners, forget the human vs. canine setting. Still, Vic is a sadist, even if not as bad as others.

This the one of the funniest ending to a movie in all of celluloid history though, "Well. I'd say she had marvelous judgement if not particularly good taste. Hehehe" Gotta admit that is one hilarious line.

Great flick. Thanks for the upload. Just to be clear for everyone though, there's no cannibalism involved. Only the dog ate her, as our protagonist has some scruples. But make no mistake, no hollywood romance ending here. And what else would you expect in this post apocalyptic world? After scheming and using Vic from the start, then trying to convince him to leave his best friend for dead, she got what she deserved.

Another thing I got a kick out of was seeing Jason Robards in this film as he'll later do post-apocalyptic again in 'The Day After.'

I'd always heard of this film, glad to see it online. I'll have to pick up a copy on DVD now that it's re-released.

There are elements of this film that I think influenced the Fallout series of games. 'Down Under' has that '50s suburban time capsule feel that the Vaults did in the games. This must have been the first of a sting of post-apocalyptic films throughout the '80s (Mad Max, Damnation Alley, etc).

I think only the dog ate her since he said Vick hasn't eaten a bite and he says he's not hungry. Vick wasn't the one on the verge of dying of hunger, so it would make sense that he wouldn't resort to such a thing, especially since those crazy people likely fed him while he was down there.
