I love Gambit so much more when he's being a manipulative, self interested dick. No-one's properly written him like that since Fabian Nicieza got thrown off his solo series. He's just no fun as 'a thief with a heart of gold'- there's no edge. And he's so much less attractive as a character.

Gambit under Nicieza was Jack Sparrow like. There hasn't been any one who could write Gambit as well as Fabian did.

Gambit was the reason I stopped reading X-Men. I didn't like that he had a cajun accent and he was supposed to be a bad boy? Wolverine was the bad boy. Gambit is THE worst character. @sithyness Haha, having a Cajun accent makes Gambit much more interesting. I love his accent. And he's not necessarily the "bad boy." He's the "checkered past redemptioner." As for his powers, Gambit easily surpasses most other characters, including Wolverine. In fact, it's been proven time and time again that Gambit beats Wolverine 1v1. I remember one confrontation where Gambit grabbed Wolverine's claws and charged Wolverine's skeleton. Can't get more bad-ass than that!

Nah. Gambit isn't a good guy or a bad guy really. He kind of follows his own path. His love for Rogue has kept him with the X-men, but he goes where the opportunity is...hence him being bad from time to time. At least that's how i view him through the years.

Rofl at people complaining that the movie Gambit looks "nothing" like comic book Gambit. You do realize that people felt the same way about Heath Ledger after seeing his first promo pics as The Joker, right?

I'm not saying movie Gambit will blow all our minds away or be as good as Heath, but at least give him a chance and watch the movie first before whining. He's a decent actor whose roles resembled Gambit, and the movie is still in post-production. I'm sure he'll get the red/black eyes.

Kitsch has a magic coach on-set to help him with the card tricks/throwing scenes, and he has a vocal coach to help him with the Cajun accent. He's also Canadian, so it shouldn't be that hard for him to pull it off.
