Just because she may not remember who she is does not negate the fact that she left the scene of an accident. She knew enough to check the accident victim and then consciously walked away.
I'm sorry, attempted manslaughter. You see the picture of her before she disappeared? She looks empty; a crushed spirit. Figuratively speaking, she had drained herself of all her concientiousness, coincidently allowing inconsideration and a complete lack of empathy to prevail. This is a sad case, or at least the way I perceive it. I think by now, 2011, she's been murdered. What trucker wouldn't take advantage of a delirious, attractive woman?
You write to many fantastical stuff. She could should have just driven into a tree or off a bridge. I don't think she was the kind who wouldo for a straight on head on crash in which both she and some innocent person would probably die.
like her perception of her life. Sh thought she was one big failure. The only solution to that is to run away. She should be charged with manslaughter if you ask me.
She probably walked over to the person to see if she needed help. While she was staring at her, she believed that her whole life, up until that moment, was full of innocence. The combination of her suicide attempt and the injured -or who appeared to be injured- woman made her snap. She lost her innocence, she lost her caring self, she lost every good thing that could have once been linked to her character. This my friends was not an accident. It was a suicide attempt, one which failed...
So...one night, what I believe that she did, she drove into oncoming traffic to commit suicide. However, the car evaded the collision. She reacted quickly and went after the car that had pulled over moments prior to the collision. After the collision -wheter she had an injury or not- she never completely returned as Patricia Meehan; the shock was too much for her to bear. Instead of conjuring up an alibi to tell her loved ones, she though it a better alternative to avoid, rather than confront.
@MrNitsuj12 I totally agree. I think she spiraled into a deep depression, attempted to commit suicide, and couldn't live with the situation after she failed. I couldn't imagine the horrible psychological hell Patricia lives in if she is still alive.
Ok. I'm an avid USM fan. I watch the episodes 'til this very day. I've seen so man cases, yet never have I been more fascinated than when I came across this one. My theory is this: Patricia was becoming extremely depressed for various reasons: 1) in her mind she had lost her youth(38 years old) 2) she went into a career(child care) only to realize that she wanted to care for animals 3) you can't get back time
I think I found this woman in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. If anyone is interested I'll send them a recent photo of her. She even goes by the same name. Click on this comment to respond to me.
Why don't they bring this show back? Yes Yes I know they have sorta. I'm talking about doing new shows not just reruns. They should use the same into ect.
@cwood4ever You might like the show "Disappeared." Rubns1980 has a bunch of eps uploaded. Each episode is about one missing persons case from real life.
The best UM re-enactments are from the 1988-1992 era...they had that grainy, moody, dark atmospheric look about them that added to the spookiness of the story.
@crockett007 Your probably mean 1987 because that's the year it first aired. I hated it when the changed the original UM opening to a more mid 90's version.
Theres something very odd about this woman. Even if she didn't have amnesia, there still was something very wrong with this lady. I mean most rational people with amnesia don't want to keep moving on the road. How does she survive anyways hitching?
@mugabezuwane- Maybe she was in shock. The mind can do very strange things, particularly after something traumatic. Patricia didn't sound like a vicious person at all, maybe just mentally ill.
sounds to me like she was out of it before the accident. i mean she was driving in the wrong lane and at cars.
how do they know the sightings are her?

The first question they needed ask is why she drove on the wrong side of the road to begin with. Was she driving away from something or someone?
Clearly, she had some sort of mental or emotional disorder but there may be more than just mental problems at work here.
