@poopg3 They aren't potty trainable but as a rule of thumb when a kinkajou wakes up they usually have to go in the first 20 minutes :) The bathroom situation is not hard to clean up at all. I use a bird cage with a cage bottom separating the tray so it just falls down and stay on whatever you place on the tray for easy clean-up. It's best to keep these guys in bird cages as they are very strong and can bend other wires easily so steel works good :)

Hello, I have wanted a kinkajou for 2 years now, and I just got a 4 month old female kinkajou for Christmas as a HUGE suprise... soooo happy!!!!!!!!!! and she is handicapped and has 3 legs :(, but she gets around fine :)....I am 15, and I was just wondering if it is normal for them to not bite hard, but softly bite your fingers often. Also what fruits do you reccomend, and where do you order his monkey chow from (if thats what you feed him)

@trixiechick123 Well, I have a very detailed reply for you :) First off is it one of the back legs? They are most commonly you're missing legs. If it's a female and 4 months you should get her spayed in around 4-5 months, and females can be a bit more aggressive. She will bite you because she is still teething. They are teething for a while and aren't full grown till 1 1/2 years. Mine loves his bananas, so any fruits and do not feed strawberries (they're allergic), I do not feed

@trixiechick123 mine monkey chow. Also she should be able to get around fine but you should watch lout for any health problems and get her all the vaccines. I recently did an faq video if you want to watch that as well. You really need to work hard with these guys, they aren't beginner pets. I taught him almost everything. To him I am his mommy and I love him and he is such a joy :) merry Christmas and I hope you learn to love her (they have a long life span consider that) :D

Thanks, and yes, my parents are veternarians, and are going to spay her. Do you mean to get her spayed IN 4- 5 months, or when she is 4-5 months? And yes, it is her back leg....She is already getting used to her new home, and at night she runs around ALOT (with me watching) and runs up and down all the steps :), and I read that they live 25- 35 years :)

@trixiechick123 I mean in 4-5 months so when she is 8 or 9 months and I hope you do have a bird cage for her to stay in while you sleep (they are very mischievious) :) and it usually is the back leg (evolution, they mostly use their hands so back legs aren't too necessary and one will do fine)

My mom ordered a huge parrot cage, along with pouches, toys, and branches, and it should be here any day now. Currently she is in a large dog cage with a fleece blanket, and the toys she came with. I just put a video up of her, so if you want to you can check it out.

@MsTheLIP Unfortunately I don't know your state laws, Florida is very lenient with exotics but I did have to obtain a license to own him. I would do your research first by either asking anyone who breeds exotics or by calling up your local wildlife center.

@rallstop101 He does roam free during the day and sleeps in my bed as well as plays with our other pets but at night is the only time he is caged. If you don't cage these guys at night (they're nocturnal) you probably don't care much about their safety and well-being as they're very smart and agile and can get themselves hurt pretty easily.

What exactly are Kinjajous anyway? They look like a cross between a monkey and a meerkat..are they some kind of primate?

@IidoTheFox They're in the bear family as they're nicknamed honey bears. He is related to coatimundis and raccoons as well as a few other animals. They are what you call a rainforest mammal. He's not related to a monkey in any way so I wouldn't designate them primates. They do look more like monkeys though :)
