Hey! Thanks for your review! I was just about to go to bare escentuals to try bare minerals, but as I looked for a review I ran across this. I'm glad I did too! It's great to hear that there's a cheaper AND better brand out than the typical expensive kind. Everyday minerals sounds great!
Great video. I use to use bare minerals also and the bismuth killed my face, when i would sweat just a liitle my whole face felt like it was on fire and i would break out in hives. I have the same skin as you like you stated, i did join mary kay a couple months ago and they have awesome products for foundations that work great on my skin, let me know if you would like to try MK i would love to get your opinion on their products. Thanks
i TOO am totally allergic to the bismuth .. i tried BM and it made my face break out in hives and it felt like i was being stung by bees! i LOVE everyday minerals!
hello, i use the 'light' shade in bare minerals. which shade of everyday minerals do u suggest for me? i think i'll be needing the intensive base since i live in the caribbean and the climate here is very warm, so my usually oily skin tends to be even more oily !. i'll be grateful for any help at all.
Thanks for all the info. I used Aromaleigh and am searching for something new. I got the bare minerals yesterday in matte, which doesn't have bismuth. But it does have lauroyl lysine, silica, calcium silicate, and 'soil minerals.' Hmmm...At least I like the locking container. I ordered meow samples, but am having trouble finding a good match. I'm also gun shy that Meow might go away like Aromaleigh did. Once bitten and all...
what type of finish does the intensive formula give you? and how you tried the other 3 formulas? I love a dewy finish, but I also have oily skin....thanks!
ugh I wish EDM didn't change their sample kits or add lauroyl lysine :( and I also love Meow's Flawless Feline formula, although I recently swapped away my Meow foundation because it is now too light for me!
I like EDM too, but hate having to order it online. I like to get my hot little hands on stuff before I reach for my wallet. I did however order the kit, and liked everything in it.
I tried BM when the "mineral make-up" craze was just starting. I have to honestly say that I tried BM and I was not impressed. I tried several brands since then and I currently use Laura Mercier, and I just love it. Everyday Minerals is a great product and I have tried their foundations, blush, and bronzers and I do recommend ED as well.
I know what you mean. Everyone makes BM sound like it's the best. I'm mixed but usually it doesn't take but a min to find a good skin tone match. I got BM and it was like a shade too dark. Not so bad that I couldn't wear it or it was obvious that it was too dark but still I could tell. I have really oily skin too and larger pores right next to my nose. Within a few hrs BM woukd sink into my pores and made them look bigger from all the shimmer in it. Does EDM have the shimmer in it too??
I've been using for BM for 2 days and I broke out in an itchy rash. Does every day minerals have a kit AND is it good for Dry skin? i can't find it on their website. Have you hard of Faerie Organic?
My brother works at everyday minerals and they have 4 different types of bases to suite your skin type. Like, I'm a matte base because I have oily skin but if you have dry skin you can try the intensive base or original. They also have free test samples so you can test out what formula base you need. My brother makes the makeup and I know its all natural so I trust it : ) Good luck!
i had a strange reaction...it was like an allergic reaction but not on the skin...i got so itchy in my ears and throat as I am for my pollination and dust allergy....and that was after 2 days of use ...
I'll have to retry and check if it was caused by that but I just wanted to know if this happened to anyone else...
Because back then I was totally clueless and there wasn't anything else I knew of except for BM and Sheer Cover. I also had a false misconception that BM was supposed to be the best. I wasn't going to go back to liquid either and all the powder foundations I tried didn't cut. So that's why I kept on using it. Back then, there wasn't as many mineral makeup companies as there are now.
Maybe I missed it, but how's the coverage w/EDM? I've been using BM since it came out. I recently saw a pic of myself and couldn't believe how peachy I looked, so am now waiting on my 2nd 'try me' order from EDM to get the right level.
Hey everyone! I love EDM but I now also love Meow Cosmetics Flawless Feline foundation. So if EDM didn't work out for you, then check out Meow. Thanks for watching and commenting. =)
And no, I didn't get any of this stuff for free. This is based on my own experiences. I'm just tryin' to help a sistah out...
This reveiw was very helpful and organized! Thank you so much. I was at Sephora the other night, and I almost purchased a bare minerals kit, but I thought I'd youtube it and check out the reviews, after this i really want to try out the EDM, I am on thee website but do not see anything that will allow me a trial for free foundations, it says on one page that I can try ONE foundation with my order ... Can someone help me navigate this please? It would be well appreciated!! =)
I'm a C40in mac, sometimes depending on the season it could be a little dark for me. In sheercover I use the ALMOND color, and for EM I mix 2medium olive+1medium tan to get the shade that I want for my skin :). EM is not good for hot days it runs of your face, looks chalky, im talking about above 100f...so if you wanna wear it when working out, by the time you are done, u will not have any make up on, but with sheercover it does stay. still love EM for everyday at home :).
I'm a recent convert to Everyday Minerals. This is the BEST makeup I've ever used and the ONLY makeup I've found that really matches my skin. Granted, I have to blend two of the foundations (Fair Neutral and Linen), but it's so, so perfect. And a really uncommon color so I'm lucky I finally found something that works for me.
Everyday Minerals is the best! Bare Minerals is for people with close to perfect skin...Everyday Minerals has more shades Bare Minerals doesn't, EM is cheaper, BM is pricey...BM makes the skin look shine and gross...EM doesn't. I went to Florida and the whole week the temps hit over 100 degrees! I walked around Disney World everyday for 12 hours a day...sweating like a pig, it was SOOOOO HOT...but when I looked in the mirror my makeup looked PERFECT! EM is the best. BM irritates my skin
Well, everyone's experiences are different, but for my oily skin, EDM covers better and lasts longer than BM. EDM also doesn't contain Bismuth Oxychloride, which may be irritating to some skin types. Plus, EDM is way more affordable compared to BM but this is just my opinion.
thanks for the comparison:) i was originally using BM but decided to switch to EM after hearing your review. i think it's probably personal skin types etc though, because the result was the opposite for me. EM made my skin looking blotchy and more oily actually, and after trying EM for a few months i gave up and went back to BM. EM really is a LOT more affordable, but i guess it's just not a good match for me.. love their blushes though!
i have a problem finding yellow toned foundations too. would you suggest olive or golden tones? some yellow tones i've tried still turn orange for me.
I have yellow undertones and i'm a NC40 in MAC...I use the Olive Medium foundation...it's perfect...people walk up to me to ask me about my skin...of course I tell them all about EM :)
I bought the BM starter kit today before finding tons of information online about the irritating effects of Bismuth Oxychloride. I have sensitive skin & am afraid that I will have a reaction. I saw on the BM website that there is a 60 day guarantee, but was wondering if you knew if the guarantee applied to me since I did not buy the product online or through the phone. I don't know if the Sephora store will let me return it (I already opened the package). I am considering switching to EM.
Hmm I don't know. Maybe you can at least get store credit at Sephora. But you can still try BM and see if you have a bad reaction to it because you never know what may work for you.
Yay! I chose Everyday Minerals as well as my first mineral foundation. Was torn between Bare Minerals and EDM, but EDM's color selection got me sold. I like how they differentiate a color selection for Asians and Latinos, because Caucasians could be yellow/golden based but it is different. I heard great stuff about the Olive colors and how they match Asian skin colors really well... so I am EXCITED to get my sample in the mail! Bare Minerals reminds me of proactive--over advertised and pricey
(cont'd) and bare minerals color selection sucks! They have the same yellow based color for Asians as they do for Caucasians... it'd be way too pink for those w/ completely yelllow olive skin. :)
btw, is ur golden medium the one from the "olive" family or "golden" family..cuz i think they have two golden mediums...just curious because i started to wear olive med recently but starting to feel that it is a little dark for me, so i was thinking of trying out golden medium in olive family...what do u think?
thanks so much! this was a great review. definitely subscribing :)
Yes, my Golden Medium is from the Olive category; there isn't another one. I agree that their names are messed up and confusing. They should just name everything Olive 1, Olive 2 or Golden 3, Golden 4 or whatever.
If you use the Intensive formula and find that it's too dark, the same color in matte, semi-matte or Original-glo is lighter. It's like that for all their foundation colors, which is weird. Luckily they have sample kits so you can play around with them.
i don't thnk Everyday Minerals's coverage is good at least for me. Bare Minerals covers everything really really good and my face look flawless. But they feels disgusting on my skin. They just irritate my skin so much..so i'm still looking for a better option...
Hi, I recently bought bare minerals but haven't gotten any breakouts yet. Did you get breakouts immediately after using the product? I love the way bare minerals looks on my skin, but I'm afraid of getting zits. I don't have very sensitive skin, so maybe the Bismouth Oxychloride won't affect me?
It shouldn't affect you, usually only affects people with sensitive skin. My sister has super sensitive skin and it only slightly bothered her a few minutes the first time she put it on, then never again so it really varies with the person. And everyone I know who has used Bare Minerals has had their skin clear up not break out. But again, to each their own! Also if you get BM from a BE store or site it's 30 day satisfaction!
They can't because you have to do a rather expensive test to claim that officially. But it's said to have SPF15 for the foundation and SPF30 for the natural reflection.
Thank you so much for posting this review! I spoke to a couple friends last night about mineral makeup (we all use it). I hate my current foundation and they use Bare Minerals, but when I found out it has Bismouth Oxychloride, I decided it would be a terrible decision. I checked out Everyday Minerals and after watching this review (and others) I decided to spend the couple dollars to try it out (I've spent less on terrible food). I can't wait!
Don't use any of that use Larenim it's designed especially for people with oily or acne prone skin. And it's 100% natural without that bismuth oxychloride.
You can get Bare Escentuals on other websites (EBAY) with great deals on the price. I tried BE & I loved it, I have tried other mineral "copy cats" it just didn't work like BE. As for staying power & oil control I would say finish application with the MINERAL VEIL (a light dusting). I don't use their brushes necessarily, but the 2 I have are very soft, & nice. Also please keep in mind that your skin is your "true foundation". Excessive scrubbing while cleaning can cause excessive oil/break outs
I agree with this, though I haven't tried EM. I used BM for years and it makes my face itch. Their brushes are also awful (the natural fiber ones are pony hair, which is very scratchy, and many people are allergic to it). I used it because it was cleaner than liquid or cream with good coverage, and started using it before there were a lot of choices in mineral makeup. I may try this once my MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural (has less bismuth than BM, but less coverage) runs out.
Thanks so much for the thoroughest review for EDM I've seen! I'm just starting to wear make-up and I don't have a TON of money to spend (I'm a bargain shopper =P) So I don't want to be buying ton's of different foundations out and wasting the little income I have. (Which is why I check reviews before I buy, I'm a very detailed precise person) So, thank you again! Great video!
Love the clear explanation! I was going to order Bare Minerals just to try it out, even though I already ordered eight samples from Everyday Minerals, but after watching this, I'll save my money on BE. Keep doing what you do =) Have you ever tried the "4-in-1" Pur Minerals Foundation? It's supposed to be a concealer, too. Anyway, think I'll try that instead just for convenience's sake. Keep me posted, if you ever try the 4-in-1.
Thanks so much for doing this side-by-side video. This is the most helpful and thorough no-nonsense comparison of the 2 mineral foundations I've watched!
Yup, sometimes different things work for different people. But EDM Intensive foundation is my HG product. Sometimes another formulation (Original Glo, Intensive, Semi-Matte, Matte) works better for different people.
I would really like EDM to work for me. I have tried Matte and Intensive. It looks good to begin with but about an hour later, its all patchy and funny red marks (when I take it off red marks go). And I am more oily as well. I have tried it alone, and with their starter powder and the finishing powder. Do you know of anyway to stop the streaks? Thanks!
I'm super oily and find that Intensive works best for me but I like to put their discontinued Silk Dust on as a primer. Fyrinnae has their own silk dust as well but haven't tried it but heard great things about their company. If it's streaky you might be using too much or you're not buffing it in circular motions long enough?? I like to buff in foundation and afterwards conceal any marks (with my foundatin color)and blend those areas out. That way, I don't cake on too much on my entire face.
You are so right. I tried Bare Minerals a year ago, and didnt like it. It was too pink for me, just like you experienced. It made me look like an overly tanned person. It was grose. Not to mention that it would fade half way through the day.I basicaly experienced all the negative effects that you did. Got a sample kit from EDM and loving it. Cant wait to get my first custom kit. Very helpful video. Thanks :)
Yeah it's really good to read the ingredients in things and become familiar with the names. I didn't know that the bismuth oxychloride was irritating me until I switched brands. I didn't really do that when I started out with makeup a looong time ago. Hehe. But now I know better. Oh and I'm not saying that the bismuth will irritate everyone's skin bcuz everyone's different. HTH
I COMPLETELY agree with you on taking Everyday Minerals over Bare Minerals! My skin broke out a lot when I was using Bare Minerals, then I found Everyday Minerals, and I don't think I will ever change. My face cleared right up also, I still have break outs... but nothing like before, for anyone who is skeptical of trying it, don't hesitate... they have free samples if you go to their website. You get to pick 5 different colors, all you have to pay for is the shipping, and its only like $5-$10.
Great video and info! I am currently using a combo of proactiv and bare minerals in hope to clear up my skin. It has cleared up slighty, but my skin is still breaking. Based on your video, I am willing to try Everyday minerals
awesome awesome video! I agree with someone else about advertising... you start thinking hmm maybe I should try it because it's a "name brand" so it must be good, or its more expensive so it's better but not necessarily. I just ordered some foundations and brushes because I have a friend who switched from BM to EDM and loves it! Plus, I felt her brushes from EDM and they are the softest things on earth! I can't wait for my haul!
Advertising doesn't make a product any better it just helps it sell, and a more expensive product isn't always the best.I agree on the BE aspect of your video. The Bismuth Oxychloride didn't break me out but it irritated my skin, causing it to be red and itchy.I also found that the Bare Minerals settled into fine lines ,causing a cakey look even after a good moistureizer was applied. As far as the Everyday Minerals goes,I haven't tried it yet,but plan to very soon.
Thanks so much for this video... I've been using BM for quite a while now and it's my favorite so far, but I'm looking for more improvment in my skin and also a little better coverage. I just ordered the sample kit. Hopefully I have the same experience as you!!
p.s. I love everyday minerals! their customer service sucks big time but their product is awsome and I have tried pur minerals, bare minerals, etc. You know if you kept your receipt you could return or exchange the bare minerals if you got them at sephora?
I looove EDM too! Their customer service is getting better though. But I don't even know where my BM receipts are plus it was a while back. The jars are just sitting in a box under my bed now. LoL I would throw it out but they cost me some money.
Well about 6 or 7 years ago I was an NC35 but haven't tried any MAC foundation since then. For EDM, I use Golden Medium Intensive. The colors for the Intensive formula tend to be darker than the other formulas in the same shade. HTH.
Original Glo has a dewy finish, Semi-Matte has a slightly dewy finish that's about half as much as Original Glo and Intensive is supposed to be for all skin types and I think it's the best for oily/combination skin. It has a matte finish. HTH
You know they had some Silk Dust that were recently discontinued that were awesome. But they have some Start to Finish Rice Powders and they're pretty good.
thank you so much i actually had never heard of everyday minerals.. but i had viewed your review of the coastal sense 78 color pallet... which i was interested in purchasing... but wanted to check out a few reviews on it... anyway... i saw your haul and decided to check out this video as well.. so i went to the site and 5 samples... for 3.09 i was so there i'm hoping it gives me great results as it clearly gave you... thanks for the awesome vid!
Use to buy Everyday Minerals on e-Bay.Last a long time. As far as oily face I use the veil first then apply as usualand finish with viel.My girls do this when going out dancing, they love it.
omg i totally agree. im not a mac addict but i do havea few of their products. i notice their foundation makes alot of ppl breakout like crazy..and i dont realy understand why they just continue to use it to cover up their breakouts if they should alreayd know its the cause of it all. and everyday minerals is so cheap, feels so light on ur face yet covers great without cakyness :)
Thank you! I have not tried Sheer Cover but I think it contains Bismuth Oxychloride which irritates my skin, as the BM. But yeah, EDM is really good quality with very few ingredients. Hope it works out for you. =)
It's nice to see that you had the same experience as me with Bare Minerals. It lets me know that I wasn't the only one with that same problem. I'm an Everyday Minerals girl now! Woo Hoo =D
I ordered some eyeshadows and the sample kit based on your review. I am just afraid it is not going to hold up as well for me as Bare Minerals has. I would love a cheaper option... But BE has been wonderful for *MY* skin and it even holds up during karate class... Which I found out purely by accident.
Great review! Thanks for comparing the two brands ingredients. I've also been thinking that some well known brands don't always mean you get the best quality. I promise to read the labels now!! Thanks It was so easy to find my perfect foundation match with EM for me the first two samples I tried were perfect winter colors for me and only took 12 days to arrive to New Zealand
Your review was very helpful! I've been wanting to try a mineral foundation, but I didn't know which brand to try. I just ordered a sample kit from Everyday Minerals, and I plan to go to my local Ulta store to get color matched for Bare Minerals. After watching your video, I think I'll probably end up sticking with Everyday Minerals!
I have one question for you: Have you tried all of the different formulas of EM (Semi-Matte, Matte, Intensive, and Original Glo), and which do you prefer? THANKS!
Hey there! I have tried the Intensive and Matte formula (again, I have oily/combo skin) and I like the Intensive formula because I think it covers better than the matte and it actually helps to control oil better than the matte. I have samples of the other two formulas but have not got around to trying them yet. Also, everyone is different so what might work for me may not work for everyone else. But I do love EM and plan on sticking with it. Glad I switched. Thanks for commenting =)
I've been matched with Fair with BM, but I felt like a ghost wearing it, because everything else was too YELLOW for me!!! (I'm just a ball of pink!)
I bought the $34 kit at EM, and wow! I love it! I've got the same skin type and problems as you, and being able to pick the colors and formula that are right for your skin is so great! (I wear Fair Medium in Matte, sometimes in Intensive).
Have you tried the Silk Dust finishing powder? Keeps all of my oilies away!
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I have tried the Silk Dust and I love it. But I'm liking the Tinted Silk Dust a little better because it doesn't leave a white cast to my face if I use too much.
bare M broke you out and u have been using for 6 years? hmmm...oh yeah would you still choose edm over BM if it didnt contain talc, bismuth and parabens and the things i said above? just wondering cuz i want to get me some mineral makeup. thank you!!
Wow great comparison! I am going to try the everday minerals. Especially because I have oily skin to.

It depends on what formula you try. Intensive has the most coverage and Original-Glo has the least. Matte and Semi-Matte are in between.

I walked around Disney World everyday for 12 hours a day...sweating like a pig, it was SOOOOO HOT...but when I looked in the mirror my makeup looked PERFECT! EM is the best. BM irritates my skin

Question for those who have tried both...Which lasts longer on oily skin?
EricaTalamantes 2 years ago
and plis you can tell me how is better pliss sorry my english
myyaret 2 years ago
Well, everyone's experiences are different, but for my oily skin, EDM covers better and lasts longer than BM. EDM also doesn't contain Bismuth Oxychloride, which may be irritating to some skin types. Plus, EDM is way more affordable compared to BM but this is just my opinion.
Lostris143 2 years ago
did they change the amount of product on the newer ones? i think it's like 5.5 grams now...
urbankreationz 2 years ago
I'm not sure. All mine are usually 8 grams but some of them are 6 grams, depending on the color. Don't know why.
Lostris143 2 years ago
do everyday minerals have spf in them?
bbreendda 2 years ago
Titanium Dioxide has natural SPF properties...so, yes. They also have finishing powders called Natural Reflections that offer sun protection.
Lostris143 2 years ago
thanks for the comparison:) i was originally using BM but decided to switch to EM after hearing your review. i think it's probably personal skin types etc though, because the result was the opposite for me.

DrugstoreDiva 2 years ago
The GOLDEN family is definitely more yellow-toned than the Olive category. I'd suggest the Golden category but remember, you can always mix things.
Lostris143 2 years ago

I am considering switching to EM.
xshinx 2 years ago
Hmm I don't know. Maybe you can at least get store credit at Sephora. But you can still try BM and see if you have a bad reaction to it because you never know what may work for you.
Lostris143 2 years ago
Sephora allows you to return opened products, I believe.
firepuppy13 2 years ago
bismuth oxychloride can even break out people that dont have sensitive skin, which is why edm is a safer choice

Bare Minerals reminds me of proactive--over advertised and pricey
gogoutube 2 years ago
(cont'd) and bare minerals color selection sucks! They have the same yellow based color for Asians as they do for Caucasians... it'd be way too pink for those w/ completely yelllow olive skin. :)
gogoutube 2 years ago
hi there
this was really helpful
btw, is ur golden medium the one from the "olive" family or "golden" family..cuz i think they have two golden mediums...just curious because i started to wear olive med recently but starting to feel that it is a little dark for me, so i was thinking of trying out golden medium in olive family...what do u think?
thanks so much! this was a great review. definitely subscribing :)
shangrila628 2 years ago
Yes, my Golden Medium is from the Olive category; there isn't another one. I agree that their names are messed up and confusing. They should just name everything Olive 1, Olive 2 or Golden 3, Golden 4 or whatever.
If you use the Intensive formula and find that it's too dark, the same color in matte, semi-matte or Original-glo is lighter. It's like that for all their foundation colors, which is weird. Luckily they have sample kits so you can play around with them.
Thanks!
Lostris143 2 years ago
thanks a lot hun! i just got my sample kit and i'm soo excited. xx

i don't thnk Everyday Minerals's coverage is good at least for me. Bare Minerals covers everything really really good and my face look flawless. But they feels disgusting on my skin. They just irritate my skin so much..so i'm still looking for a better option...
vivienne222 2 years ago
Hi, I recently bought bare minerals but haven't gotten any breakouts yet. Did you get breakouts immediately after using the product? I love the way bare minerals looks on my skin, but I'm afraid of getting zits. I don't have very sensitive skin, so maybe the Bismouth Oxychloride won't affect me?
xxcrimsondahlingxx 2 years ago
Not everyone is allergic to Bismuth Oxychloride. But it looks like it's working out for you. Stick with something you like =)
Lostris143 2 years ago
It shouldn't affect you, usually only affects people with sensitive skin. My sister has super sensitive skin and it only slightly bothered her a few minutes the first time she put it on, then never again so it really varies with the person. And everyone I know who has used Bare Minerals has had their skin clear up not break out. But again, to each their own! Also if you get BM from a BE store or site it's 30 day satisfaction!

They can't because you have to do a rather expensive test to claim that officially. But it's said to have SPF15 for the foundation and SPF30 for the natural reflection.
Farangis08 2 years ago
not enough, use a face SPF. I have a clinique one i'll use with my EM sample when it arrives!

BE comes with SPF, however everyday minerals doesn't. Maybe thats where the bismuth oxy came from in BE. :)

Excessive scrubbing while cleaning can cause excessive oil/break outs
twoshakes 3 years ago
I've tried the Mineral Veil and it didn't work very well for me. It's just laying in the closet now. :)
I find that Silk Dust works better for me for oil control.
Lostris143 3 years ago

Fayleke 3 years ago
Thanks and you're welcome! EDM is very affordable plus the sample kits are a good way to try out things without breaking the bank. =)
Lostris143 3 years ago
Love the clear explanation! I was going to order Bare Minerals just to try it out, even though I already ordered eight samples from Everyday Minerals, but after watching this, I'll save my money on BE. Keep doing what you do =) Have you ever tried the "4-in-1" Pur Minerals Foundation? It's supposed to be a concealer, too. Anyway, think I'll try that instead just for convenience's sake. Keep me posted, if you ever try the 4-in-1.

I like Bare Minerals best, I have been trying Everday Minerals this past week and its not working for me!
Reuhl925 3 years ago
Yup, sometimes different things work for different people. But EDM Intensive foundation is my HG product. Sometimes another formulation (Original Glo, Intensive, Semi-Matte, Matte) works better for different people.
Lostris143 3 years ago
I would really like EDM to work for me. I have tried Matte and Intensive. It looks good to begin with but about an hour later, its all patchy and funny red marks (when I take it off red marks go). And I am more oily as well. I have tried it alone, and with their starter powder and the finishing powder. Do you know of anyway to stop the streaks? Thanks!
Reuhl925 3 years ago
I'm super oily and find that Intensive works best for me but I like to put their discontinued Silk Dust on as a primer. Fyrinnae has their own silk dust as well but haven't tried it but heard great things about their company. If it's streaky you might be using too much or you're not buffing it in circular motions long enough?? I like to buff in foundation and afterwards conceal any marks (with my foundatin color)and blend those areas out. That way, I don't cake on too much on my entire face.

do they only sell everyday minerals online?

Yes, EDM is only sold online.

Downside for EM all of their bagillion shades are for light/white/tan people. If you're brown/African American their are only two shades.

They're supposed to be coming out with darker shades soon.
Lostris143 3 years ago

You are so right. I tried Bare Minerals a year ago, and didnt like it. It was too pink for me, just like you experienced. It made me look like an overly tanned person. It was grose. Not to mention that it would fade half way through the day.I basicaly experienced all the negative effects that you did. Got a sample kit from EDM and loving it. Cant wait to get my first custom kit. Very helpful video. Thanks :)

i dont use minerals

but im starting soon
but thats nice to know
futurstarprince 3 years ago
Yeah it's really good to read the ingredients in things and become familiar with the names. I didn't know that the bismuth oxychloride was irritating me until I switched brands. I didn't really do that when I started out with makeup a looong time ago. Hehe. But now I know better. Oh and I'm not saying that the bismuth will irritate everyone's skin bcuz everyone's different.
Shelbidanielle87 3 years ago
I love EDM. I've been itching to throw out my BM just to use the jars but that stuff cost me over $100.
My sample kit shipping is usually a little over $3.
Lostris143 3 years ago

Great video and info! I am currently using a combo of proactiv and bare minerals in hope to clear up my skin. It has cleared up slighty, but my skin is still breaking. Based on your video, I am willing to try Everyday minerals
Seannaholic 3 years ago
awesome awesome video! I can't wait for my haul!
faid2blac 3 years ago
That's great! Don't you just fall in love with their brushes? LOL. Hope you get your haul soon =)

Lostris143 3 years ago
Advertising doesn't make a product any better it just helps it sell, and a more expensive product isn't always the best.I agree on the BE aspect of your video. The Bismuth Oxychloride didn't break me out but it irritated my skin, causing it to be red and itchy.I also found that the Bare Minerals settled into fine lines ,causing a cakey look even after a good moistureizer was applied. As far as the Everyday Minerals goes,I haven't tried it yet,but plan to very soon.
kim757va 3 years ago
The shipping for the sample kit was $3.13 because I just ordered another one a couple days ago. So cheap! It can't hurt to try it =)

I looove EDM too! Their customer service is getting better though. But I don't even know where my BM receipts are plus it was a while back. The jars are just sitting in a box under my bed now. LoL I would throw it out but they cost me some money.

are you still a nc35 in mac? if so can u please tell me what color u use in everyday minerals...having trouble finding my color! thanks!
iloveyou131214 3 years ago
Well about 6 or 7 years ago I was an NC35 but haven't tried any MAC foundation since then. For EDM, I use Golden Medium Intensive. The colors for the Intensive formula tend to be darker than the other formulas in the same shade. HTH.

Original Glo has a dewy finish, Semi-Matte has a slightly dewy finish that's about half as much as Original Glo and Intensive is supposed to be for all skin types and I think it's the best for oily/combination skin. It has a matte finish. HTH

Hi Lostris143
Nice vid! Have you tried sheer cover minerals? I've seen on tv infocomercial about BM and SC, of course I haven't tried none yet.
For sure, I'm going to order the free everyday minerals.
reddhalia 3 years ago
Thank you! I have not tried Sheer Cover but I think it contains Bismuth Oxychloride which irritates my skin, as the BM. But yeah, EDM is really good quality with very few ingredients. Hope it works out for you. =)
Lostris143 3 years ago
I think you are absolutely right!
I've been using bare minerals for 2 months now
And I have a very shiny t zone, so i always have to bloat it up,
but like u the foundation goes away so i have to make touch ups!
And it's always too pinky or too beige for my skin
AND it makes some dry spots on my face, even if I put a good cream before
anyway....
I'm so happy i didnt buy it, Sephora gave it to me as a gift...
And bare mineral's sales are so FUCKING great right now!
daneel1988 3 years ago

Thanks It was so easy to find my perfect foundation match with EM for me the first two samples I tried were perfect winter colors for me and only took 12 days to arrive to New Zealand
tinkerrbelle 3 years ago
Thanks! Yes, I also believe a "brand name" product or a higher priced product doesn't mean it's the best. New Zealand is beautiful! =D

THANKS!
LBunz 3 years ago
Lostris143 3 years ago
This review is AMAZING.
Keeps all of my oilies away!
lahoorah 3 years ago
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I have tried the Silk Dust and I love it. But I'm liking the Tinted Silk Dust a little better because it doesn't leave a white cast to my face if I use too much.

bare M broke you out and u have been using for 6 years? hmmm...oh yeah would you still choose edm over BM if it didnt contain talc, bismuth and parabens and the things i said above? just wondering cuz i want to get me some mineral makeup. thank you!!
