@jonsilence Couldn't agree more. His efforts towards being a poet when he clearly states his role in the band as "another instrument" comes off as contrived and pretentious, and after three albums of that his lyricism becomes extremely redundant. Personally, I love Tool, but I believe that his immortal praise is unwarranted and blindly awarded by people with little understanding of music or the english language to make such judgements.

a perfect circle and tool music is just about evolution. those ares some of the stages which maynard and other artists pass through. it's amazing i guess. i particularly love a perfect circle first album "mer de noms", but i think that tool's music is great too... i love that. the constant changes and activity of artists, the experimentation. if one doesn't like APC i think it's ok, i don't like all the tool's album either
