@truthseekers666 because the puddle jumper cruises at 170 mph, and has a range of over 1000 miles on a tank.

@snookpudge23 It's a Spoiler, or air brake. Same as is used in Gliders.
(you pretty much use it just like a throttle in any other plane while coming in for a landing, only opposite.)
