  • i tried doing a bunny hop but my wheel popped

  • still havent gotten up enough courage to bunny hop yet... but i have (accidentally) flung myself over the handlebars into the grass... i was going to go up my driveway but didnt turn well enough and my tire used the bush at the edge of my driveway as a ramp... next thing i knew i was laying flat on my back... true story!

  • does it hurt? plz reply

  • Is it me, or does skeletor have tits? @3:40

  • Great video, very helpful! Thanks a lot!

  • hell yea so fuckin buttery ass

  • i like the skeletor part the most :D

    thx fot tips

  • i just cant get this down. i just dont think i can get the felling to go forward.

  • nice vid vry helpful :D and wat is ur bike??

  • @ducksruleyay Thanks, I'm glad it was useful :) The bike is a KHS FXT comp that has been pretty heavily modified.

  • @unrealtrip i also have a KHS and it rules my model is Alite 150 :D

  • wicked tune...

  • if you need it slower you can keep hold of space bar

  • ty dude it really helped me :)

  • @ZADR0TiK Sweet :) You know what's crazy, I just realized that it has been so long since I recorded this that at the time kids that were 6th graders have graduated high school! LOL

  • @unrealtrip damn.. this vid 5 years old.. so it was quite awhile.. ty again :)

  • @ZADR0TiK Glad it helped :) Actually it is even older than that, I put it up on forums (dot) mtbr (dot) com in 05'

  • to clear it up, i have to lift my front tire up kinda high then i lean forward so the rear wheel comes up?

  • Haha, this song is in the Duke Nukem trailer. : )

  • Ey, i got one question for you. I got shock absorbers on both wheels, does shock absorbers making bunny hop harder bcuz it's too heavy? Plz answer i really want to learn how to do bunny hop..

  • i can lift both my wheels but not high at all but when i try my friends bikes i jump high as hell its my bike thats too heavy...

  • @SlayingBeast2 yeah, instead of buying a new bike i suggest to make some physical training. ;D

  • Is it importatnt that your bike has rear shock absorber?

  • @lrohz Not at all, a full rigid is fine. This the same method as how you bunnyhop a BMX bike, or any bike for that matter. :)

  • what kinda bike?

  • @imudallday KHS FXT ProComp, they don't make them anymore. Also mine is far from stock, basically its just the original frame.

  • i dont get how u lift up the rear wheel

  • @slashlash96

throw your body forward and push your bars after you pull backwards on your bars.

  • i dont get how u lift up the rear wheel

  • @slashlash96 Look at one of my other videos it explains how

  • @slashlash96 i can't lift my rear wheel at all

  • Skeletor has necro-nipples yo.

  • thank you!!!! i can finally bunnyhop on my bmx bike and mtb

  • @abeltram53 Awesome :)

  • Crouch down?? totally not..

  • @TheMtbBeginner Keep in mind the target audience.

  • @unrealtrip~ What brand of shoe is the best for jumping over??.... and does it have to be old?.... will a near-new shoe work just as well??

  • @marek0086 It is a good thing you mention this, I'm not sure how I could have forgotten to include that important detail. You can't just use any shoe, specifically it needs to be Addidas, Vans or British Knights. New shoes will throw you off because of the crazy whiteness, old shoes are best because they are dull in color. Definitely go with black or brown shoes and in the event those are not available, a good white shoe to use are your sister's Keds. :)

  • hmmm , oh yea rather then hopping over a stick or a can , hop over an old shoe :D

    Just kidding, really good video

  • this is a fcuking good vids!

  • @sharqawibakar thanks man :)

  • "believe Jesus was a dissident"??

    What are u saying?

  • what does "tuck" mean? i suppose its important to know that word!

  • its from 2006, pre-historic youtube

  • wow, one of the most comprehensive tutorials i have every watched

  • I never where a helmet when I MTB, but I hardly ever fall cause it's a MTB not a skateboard. Lemme correct myself, I fall alot, but since I have 6+ years experience of falling I never get hurt -- that bad.

  • @psptechnologypsp

    *Gasp* not 6 years??????

  • @crazkidsful Yeah, I have been riding for awhile, started riding at about 4 yrs old I'm 13 almost 14 now so yeah an easy 6 years of falling.

  • Can you destroy your stem and clutches doing this?? Please answer!

  • @HRV1996 Nah it isn't going to destroy anything. That said, "clutches"? Did you mean cranks? Either way, its not a big deal to your hardware.

  • why cant i se anything?

  • @iINit2wIniTi Not sure what is up, can you see any youtube videos?

  • 0:1 - 0:11 ..... no.

  • @blackdeadsk8er heh, ya I know... just don't need some fool to somehow faceplant and I get a letter in the mail from some attorney :)

  • great vid :))) sweet music

  • @evelynj2007 Thanks man! :)

  • mind blowing

  • I havent been able to pull this off yet, is it possible its because of my bike? probably my fault right?

  • its d excact same on bmx cause i can bunny hop and dave hop and anything

  • best vid ever seen ...in the last 2 minutes :)

  • I think I'm subscribing

  • when i did this i cracked the frame on my bike:L

  • I went out and tried the bunnyhop after watching this video. I mastered it in a matter of minutes!

  • Slowed down Battle Flag is fucking ill

  • Music please =) thank

  • I'm not going to wear a helmet no matter how many times you ask me!

  • @XpeRiancedPlayer lol nor am i

  • way better than all the vids thatt says just lift ur back tire up

  • cool vid thx man now i can bunnyhop ;) and it's more easy than it can seams on your vid thx a lot and love your bike and music too :p

  • Thank you! I'm a girl who's really enjoying dicking around with her mountain bike...I've been getting both tires off the ground, but at the same time. :\ This really showed me the arc you need to get off. Really good, thanks for all the helpful slow-motion stuff.

  • Wow!

Even I can bunny hop after watching this and I'm an overweight 39 year old with crap balance and a reconstructed left knee! Excellent work my friend! If I can learn from this anyone can. This is the best of the two vids for me. Love the music.

I find the landing is amazingly smooth - so smooth that I thought I wasn't getting my back wheel off the ground until I successfully hopped an irrigation pipe. Mmmmm Mmmmm! Thank you thank you! Feel the glee!

    Cheers

    Sweary.

  • Awesome brother :) it is sweet when you pin it, just think of all the uses on the open trail. Clearing holes, logs, etc.

  • @unrealtrip Hey man, can you give me some advice on how to keep my feet planted on the pedals while doing the hop? I can't seem to keep my feet on the pedals, whenever I do the bunnyhop, my feet just fall off the pedals, any tips?

by the way, awesome vid man...

  • @TagumTrailRider, Bro buy a Five/Ten Shoe, it will help you with the grip and make your feet planted to your flat pedal. Try it to believe, it's like wearing a cut off version of spd.

  • i learned how 2 bunnyhop 2day! tnx

  • sweet! :)

  • @punkdudetheoriginal 2 day you is master!

  • do u put your shocks on the hardest setup?

  • Not really no, a good medium setting is good. Your shocks can actually help you get more lift, but that's cheating :) save that for after you got the technique down.

  • ok tnx =) now i only need to buy some good pedals that fits to my kind of riding

  • Well, your bike is sick but do you think i could do it on something like a canadian tire bike?

  • madmetal: thanks man, I'm not sure what bike you're referring to, but really you can bunnyhop anything, a road bike, mtn bike, 20" whatever. You can probably bunnyhop that bike you mentioned too.

  • I'd assume your american, but Canadian Tire is a franchise that just carries everything and they have bikes, so my suspenion is great and its worked in very well, 20" so thanks, Ill keep trying to do it.

  • do u need rear suspension

  • LP640: No you don't need suspension at all

  • sweet vid but im havin trouble lifting the back tire

  • Check out the other vid I recorded, that might help out. I think I posted it here as a video response to this one.

  • can i do a bunny hop without back suspension? cuz i only have front..

  • Yes you can, suspension is not needed at all.

  • Very helpfull, best tutorial on youtube! :)

  • Go Jesus!

  • thx :) this video is exelent help for me, today i jump over 5l bootle :)

  • hey Unrealtrip please type me title of the music in this video :)

  • Battleflag by the "Lo Fidelity All Stars", they are credited in the vid also.

  • How do you get more height when bunny hopping?

  • Check out the thread at mtbr dot com in the beginner section, lots of discussion there. A simple way to get more height is to first get your front tire higher and when throwing your body forward, you may need to start from further back and lurch more diagonally. You can get a little bit of a swinging action going to, kind of an "S" shaped swing.

  • Brilliant! I watched this and managed a real pukka bunny hop very quickly afterwards. You need to practise like Skeletor says though to make sure you can do it right every time... I'm on about one in a hundred at the moment! Like the lo fidelity allstars soundtrack, I will be going to get me a copy!

    Cheers

    Sweary

  • yeh i learned how to bunny hop on ma mtb in a few seconds it was tht easy, just do a small wheelie keep your arms straight and shunt your body forward...easy, although i watched this vid after i learnt its very helpful (y) good vid =D

  • hey nice video ! plz type me title music in this video it's nice !

  • hell yay battle flag kicks ass

  • Cheers man for the vid! I just need some help, i do what you say i just crouch and as if i'm about to do a wheelie my front wheel comes off the ground but when i try and lift the back wheel, i just make the bike drop quicker, and my back wheel ends up going over what i'm trying to jump.

please get back to me, cheers.

  • I break it down into two seperate steps in another vid. There is also a huge discussion thread on forums dot mtbr dot com in the beginner section, it is a sticky. What might help for you is less of a downward motion and more forward, almost like a windup. Lean back and throw your body mostly forward and a little down. That alone should be enough to lift your back tire even if you didn't lift your front. Check the other vid and that site though, good luck man.

  • Hey, Ive been practising for ages and I just cant do it. I can get the pull up right and high enough but my back wheel never lifts off the ground.

Im using a BMX but im really quite light.

Ive been working on my arms to see if the extra muscle helps and im slowly progressing.

    Any tips?

    cheerz

  • Check out the other bunnyhop tutorial video I recorded, it should help with that specific problem. Stick with it bro, you'll get it.

  • Right, Im determined now lol ill get it.

I seem to be able to do it when I go up a slight bump in the road or sumthing, seems to give me that extra boost getting up in the air..

  • very help full tyty

  • thanks, i now can do it, but the problem is i cant do it over things. my back wheel just hits the thing im trying to jump over :s.

  • yah...me too, cant get more than 30cm off the ground.. is it due to my heavy mtb? im using a hasa bike(very light frame)

  • Thanks alot, This vid really helped, I've only started to get them but now I can bunny hop onto kerbs! Brill vid! Thanks alot 5/5

  • im practicicing weeks but i still cant do it,im trying on my bmx and on my mtb,but i cant do a bunny hop plz help

  • Dude, its hard but as you said Practice makes perfect! I cant find the song anywhere!

  • thank you for the video.. how long did it take you to master the bunny hop?

  • Well I've been bunnyhopping for 20+ years, the highest I've ever done was a tennis net on my BMX bike, that was a few years ago. I'm not so much into the big air thing anymore though, mostly just focus on being smooth. It takes time to get good at anything, I wouldn't say I've ever really mastered anything.

  • mmkay, how do u pull ur front end so high? i can only do that by catwalking (while pedaling)

  • Funny, I have the same pedals, did you remove the reflectors?

  • Yeah, they're not bad, cheap, good grip and tough.

  • Thanks for the vid. I went to practise that this afternoon, my arms are aching because of pulling my bike, but it really works~~

  • i love do it

  • wich is easier to bunnyhop an mtb or bmx???

  • if u have the skill the motion is the same but with a bmx u can jump higher because of the frame is made for jumpin so it's easier

  • i try to do all that but i cant lift the bak tyre off the ground. plz help me

  • its easy just try it wne ur not on the bike pull up and tip the bike forward or down a little and u will c that the bike will come off the ground then get on ur bike and try its really simple just pull up and push forward and down

  • nice bike

  • yer i got a giant ac 06 model and iv tried to bunnyhop it and i can do it but not to high. im doing everything in your vid but it doent work

  • Practice makes perfect. :)

  • I want to see the whole series of this...do you have other parts dude? THANX~~~

  • I haven't finished them all yet, just been slackin, I will get to them at some point here though and post em up. :)

  • you rule

  • cool

  • the videos allrite..12 pack isnt really much..i can bunnyhop 1metre so.. you know..and jesus was a legend and still is...christians rule!

  • Thanks, yeah this isn't a show off session, this is a *beginner* tutorial so people can learn. Take a look at the bunnyhop I'm pulling at the end of the video. ;)

  • thanks man for the vid but whens the next one coming out.

  • I keep saying very soon, but seriously, very soon. I put riding aside for a while, just starting to roll again.

  • Skeleton rules!

  • thank you very much. now i´ll learn my bunny hop easyer.

  • very nice video!!!! good making!!!!! now I practice my bunny ;) thx 4 vid!

  • thanks for the vid, it taught me how pretty instantly.

  • Right on brother!

  • In Australia some of us call a J-hop a kangaroo-hop, because it sorta looks like a kangaroo jumping. Nice video, will keep it in mind next time I out riding. Thanks.

  • lol it aint hard to bunny hop lol but i suppose u gotta learn somewhere =D

  • Hey, Thanks for this video, btw I learned from YOU! ;D

  • -.-

  • When lifting the front wheels up, do you just crouch forward then lift up, or do you pedal(give it that hard half pedal) to help lift the front wheel up as well?

  • yeah thanks it did

  • WTF is a J hop someone has really gotta show me the diff plz

  • a j-hop, is when ur front wheel comes up first, then ur back and they land together, sort of like an ollie on a skateboard, and a normal bunnyhop, is when both wheels come up at the same time, and both go down at the same time, hope that answers ur question mate.

    dan

  • A bunnyhop is as described in the video. A J-hop is what kids started calling a bunnyhop in recent years on the other side of the pond (from the US)

  • everyone just calls em bunny hops over here (aus) these so called "normal" bunnyhops with both wheels at the same time are just a bad habit cause if you learn them you will struggle to get regular bunnyhops (or j hops if you call them that)

  • how do you do a J hop? by pedaling while lifting? Explain.

  • i can but i cant get my back tire of the grondd.

  • so dotn wheally up to it? just lift one u get their?

  • i hope this works for me

  • what gear should u in if u have gears?

  • "sry not gettting it...coz ur doing a j-hop..a bunny hop is different"

This is an american bunny hop of in England a J-hop

  • pedalas just like mine )

  • 10q dude :) !

  • whats the sonG? thx

  • The song is Battleflag by Lo Fidelity All Stars. I give credit in the video...

  • if ur bike has gears, then wat should it be in??

  • It's not that important, but middle rings front and rear is decent.

  • Thanks budd I suck at bike tricks

  • sry not gettting it...coz ur doing a j-hop..a bunny hop is different

  • Sorry kiddo, this is a bunnyhop. :)

  • r u sure?

    and thx

  • I got 6 inches my very first try with my friend's MTB

  • i would recommand shin-guard (soccer one works fine) to anyone running on platform or cage because they can easily take a chuck of your leg off if case you slip.

  • notice that profesional trial riders run on rigid. not only because its stronger, but also because suspensions obstruct the technique

  • I encourage people to do what they can with what they have. A hardtail is great, but if you only have a full suspension bike it is not a problem, as illustrated in the video. If you are wondering about height, take a look at the picture of my bunnyhopping at the end of the video. ;)

  • It worked! I tried your technique for about an hour in the pouring rain and in the 1st 1/2hour I managed 2 get an inch high, within an hour, 2. I'll wait til the rain stops though before I reach 4...thanks!

  • is it nomal that your back tire is so flat ?

  • Good eye! but yeah, I run real low pressure on purpose. :)

  • when ever i tried bunny hop i was pullin up and pushing down - now i realize up and push on handlebara

  • ill try this tomorrow:)

  • dude i can do that ill put a video but im sure u cant do it on hardtail dj bikes u need 2 use shox go get a life using dirt jumps

  • Actually it is fine on a hardtail, I've been bunnyhoping for 24 years so I'm pretty sure I'm right. :) I ride 20" bikes and dirt jump too, good sh~t. Stick with it brother.

  • can I apply this to a XC hardtail?

  • Yes, although it may be difficult with a long stem. Suspension can be used to help and cheat sort of, but it is easier without it.
