  • I find it very interesting how all aboriginal people that lived on the earth had a sense of living as one with the land and not owning it. For example, the Natives of the Americas and our Austronesian people believed that "man will disappear and we are just the guardians of the land." While the Europeans seemed to be blinded by their ignorance and their so called "superiority" as they change what they believe is inferior to themselves. Stand strong my Pacifican brothers and sisters and stay tru

  • Great vid! Fight the white super powers!! N let's take back what is rightfully our lands n boot the westerners out...! Btw what's the name of the song???

  • kia taha! Stand tall and fight ausronesians

  • fucking westerners divided our big nation, and raided it

  • bugis should be leading all the austronesian..only then we will be strong and cool

  • @aredbunk88 Yeah, I have partial bugis blood.. I find it pretty cool and awesome that my ancestors from makassar were pirates and seafarers, but seriously, it doesnt matter who leads who, because in the end, we are all one and the same!!! I have bugis, minang, javanese, malay blood, plus chinese and siamese.. And heck, as long as we continue to contribute to the world, it doesnt matter our blood, because all humans have the same red blood

  • @aredbunk88 I don't see any reasons why bugis should be leading all the austronesian...The point is all austronesian people should work together and make even stronger ties with one another. By that, we will be truly stronger than even in politic, social & economy.

  • Im proud to be Austronesian.....Malaysia, Indonesia, Philipnes, Brunei, Papua, Hawai, Fiji, Taiwan we all brother and sisters..love you all....

  • we must unite and reclaim our ancestral lands

  • @NirinaGasikara "aina"- in Samoa we have Aiga and it means family

  • I like how you have our Pattimura on here though! But Moluccans/Timorese,West Papuans even though their in "Indonesia",also have Melanesian blood too.

  • @gpl992

The people of Maluku, Timor, and many parts of Melanesia (like Fijians and coastal Papuans) speak indigenous Austronesian languages therefore were included in this video. It doesn't have anything to do with their "blood" or their present affiliation with the Indonesian Republic. Furthermore, many Polynesians, part. Tongans and Samoans have bloodties to Fiji (which is Melanesia) and vice versa. If we applied your logic, we would have to exclude many of them as well just on that basis.

  • @hokulani78 Well from what I hear some parts of Eastern "Indonesia" still speak Papuan type languages.Would they still be included?I heard that almost all Melanesians have Austronesian blood just in different amounts

  • @gpl992

Languages in parts of Sulawesi, Timor, Savu, Flores, coastal N. PNG etc are technically Austronesian though there are something like 30% or so "Papuan" vocabulary--similar to how Spanish has a large chunk of Arabic vocabulary (from Moors). So some linguists consider it to be Austronesian while others say its a "trans-Papuan" or "trans-Austronesian" language. But I can understand why Maluku and Papua would feel strongly against identifying with anything with the RI.

  • But again, this video had to do with struggles particularly within the Austronesian speaking region and maybe its good to raise the continuing struggles of the peoples of Maluku, etc.

  • @gpl992 INDONESIA HAVE 2 Continent 1 is Asian,Southeast Asia 1 more is Australasian or Oceania,it same like Russia a country which have 2 Continent Europe and Asia/Siberia!

  • @hokulani78 Yup Maluku Is Mixed Between Melanesian and Malayan..Maluku Language called Maluku Malays(bahasa melayu maluku) which unique Malay dialect..easy to understand then kelantanese/Pattanis Malays trust me.i myself have difficult to understand kelantanese even part of Peninsular(Malaya) compare far away Maluku.Correct Me if I Wrong

  • kia ora from newzealand

  • @NirinaGasikara they trying to claim our culture(art, dance, even island) , the things that prevented us to killing each other (war) is islam .

  • @aldomovielovers

Hello you guys went to war before, remember the Konfrontasi? Islam hasn't prevented Indonesia and Malaysia from going to war. Besides Islam is not the only religion in Indonesia. Indonesia is 80% Muslim and 20% Christian, etc. If Islam is responsible for Malaysia and Indonesia not going to war, is Islam also responsible for the continued fighting in Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua?

  • What I am saying is that it has nothing to do with religion but with politics and trade. Historically, Indonesians and Malaysians were one people--Sriwijaya, Majapahit, etc. But because of colonial powers like the Dutch and British, it got divided. Same with SE Asia and Polynesia. The colonial powers drew a line that divided Austronesian peoples into Taiwan, SE Asia, Polynesia, Micronesia, Madagascar, etc. Those lines never existed before.

  • indonesian .... is what i am

  • The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei should engage in some diplomatic talks to form some kind of an alliance. The Spratly Islands can be an territorial asset to our 4 nations, instead of those idiot Chinese. Also, our countries & peoples have all experienced the struggle against European colonialism. We should recognize & acknowledge ourselves as Austronesians. From the Malagasy of Madagascar, to the island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island), may we all unite in the future! Mabuhay to all.

  • mahalo nui loa for vid hokulani...

  • Singapore are Crowded with CHINESE =[... we Malay are being step on the head =[

  • epic song-im adding to my fav

  • now the FUCKING FILIPINOS can stop saying that they are more of SPANISH blood than Austronesian to (boost their self esteem).

  • one day,..not far away from this time,..there will be rise a hope from the east to all human kind...the austronesian peoples will unite and change the world !!!

  • Hokulani, more power for your research and teaching. Salamat!

If not an Association of Austronesian Nations, at least proper recognition of what is our past. Walk down the street and tell anyone, and they wouldn't have a clue what "Austronesian" is... surprises me what little some people know of their own ancestory and roots. more power! were all family. kapayapaan bro!

  • brilliant video!!!

  • WOW, beautiful vid, I am surprised that you included the quote from Chief Hurao of Guahan... Guahan currently battles a struggle with the US Gov't and the heavy influx of about 9,000 Marine soldiers and their fam from Japan... they plan to force our people off and take more land for training, as if they hadn't already taken so much of our people's land already... added to my favs

  • mabuhi ang tao nga austronesian " long live all austronesian people" in cebuano and i totally agree with you lago...

  • why we not build a new community ? I think "Association of Austronesian Nation".and some countries which are have Austronesian background will become the member in this community.I'm Indonesian, and I hope this is not just a dream..

  • I'm agreed too. I'm from Malaysia.

  • yes i am agree too to protect all austronesian countris from chinese and america economy invasion
