I have followed Next Phaze and all the other Filipino artists very closely for the last 10 years, and I would have to disagree with you on your view of them. To me, Next Phaze and 6th Day were the best groups 2nd Gen groups out there. South Border is good too, but they're a full band and they could not pull off the acapellas that Next Phaze could do. On top of that, I liked their hit song "Rainbow", but in reality it was just a copy cat song of Brian McKnight chord progressions.

I admit this video isn't their best work...actually it's one of their worst performances I've seen of "Thank You".  They were always better live. I saw them perform this song for several majority black crowds in LA and the crowd reaction was pure amazement and praise. Apollo was only a matter of time for these guys, but they broke up before it could happen.

Right on man. I'm just really blunt when it comes to music, because in the industry, there's no room for flaws, regardless of race. And also, I'm among musicians in a plight to bring back REAL, ORGANIC, ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC, plain old GOOD music. Which is what the industry is currently lacking. Which is why I prefer bands like SB that play live music over 'boy bands'.

Lately, Ive been a working keyboardist/vocalist playing live music in various bands. Among various people (black, white, latino, other asians...no joke). Its good to support your kind, but it puts limits on your abilities. Bands like Mint Condition, that did it all, real instruments and vocal harmonies, need to come back. Dance moves and image, to me, are just icings on the cake. What happened to the MUSIC?
