The bike lane is at fault, it shouldn't be there, it is too dangerous to cycle in - because of the door-zone.

how the hell else is he supposed to get out of his car. he is parked as close to the curb as he can get. the cyclist saw his door open and him getting out a half a block away but chose to still keep riding fast instead of slowing down and letting him get out all the way. idiot cyclist

my mother would kill me if i ride a bike here, cause she would be too afraid of me getting killed by a car.... wait what? same thing... anyway if i ride my bike here, even when the government has officially build bike lane's and all, people driving here are wild, i have an 70-80% of getting run over, simply cause car, bus, truck drivers don't give a fuck, people opening their doors would be the least of my problems, but i understand your point, be safe

@cambridgecyclist I know you didn't say anything about breaking stuff, but on every video I see people that I presume also ride bikes say stuff like that like they would actually do it. That was the whole point of my post in the first place. It was not directed at you at all. I did not see you were the uploader, so I more understand your point of view. I was referring to the people that flip out in the comments like its that big of a deal if nobody gets hurt. Sorry if my comments were misleading

So? You're responsible to watch for hazards. It's not like its illegal to open a car door while a bike lane is present nor was the car parked illegally.

@talonfinitex7 I clipped the video too aggressively -- the car door was opened into the path of the previous cyclist when that cyclist was less than 10 feet from the car. It is illegal to open a car door into the path of a cyclist in the bicycle lane here.

@talonfinitex7 Im sure the point of this video is not to indicate whether it's legal or not to open a car door and what not. The point is the car parked by a bike lane, so you should be a little more zealous to look in the mirror before opening the door. If he had done so, he wouldn't have opened the door when he did.

Although it is the passenger so I doubt they would be concentrating on whether they were by a bike lane or not.
